Shinji is a great character, I love the morals he held himself to during the war and is slow rise to badassery.

I remember watching a gif about Shinji's actor in a tv show doing his pose in front of a mirror and failing to jump through it.

Yeah, Shinji sure has great development. And he's so likeable too :D When I was scrolling tumblr one day, I came across a shot of him covered with blood and let out a silent shriek at the sight- not because of the blood but more because I thought "Oh my god, no, not poor Shinji!". I really care about the riders I like x,D

Yeah... too bad he died. :( You know, he could have easily prevented his death I think, but that would've changed the ending of Ryuki though.

I really don't remember a scene like that happening so it might be me and my occasionally forgetful memory :o

I could go on for a ages about why Shinji is my favourite character but then I would be writing on this post for a while :D

I recommend using spoiler tags on that one because I spoilered just that particular moment before I watched the end of the show and it lost some of the effect for me.
Well, I found it interesting, but the ending wasn't ideal imho, so I wouldn't mind if it was changed. But then again, this sure made Shinji memorable in a way.

One thing I liked about Shinji (which is something I liked about Kouta as well) as that we see him noticeably becoming more skilled as a fighter throughout the series coming to a point where we even see him holding his own against Knight. Shinji's also great because he was treated like a nobody for most of the plot. He wasnt some chosen one with unmatchable skills like Tendou Souji, or godlike power like Kouta or Kenzaki. He was the punching bag for a lot of the series until he became an excellent fighter in his own right.

Kenzaki didn't have godlike power. He sure obtained power at some point (which isn't necessarily that great because of how it backfired, same with Eiji and Kouta), but up until he gets King form, he sure was quite a punching bag as well. You could make a drinking game of all the times where he gets hit out of the blue and isn't able to do anything in the first half of the series.

Well I'm referring moreso to the end of the series in regards to power ups. Even with Ryuki Survive, his power wasn't quite as OP as, say, King Form or Hyper Mode.

I also have to watch through Blade again lol

But then again, overpowered final forms have been a thing in rider for quite a while. And the number one overpowered final form is still Ultimate Kuuga. But then again, the original Kuuga was so strong, it's almost ridiculous. xD

Very, very true. Still love those forms though. Just thought Ryuki Survive was a cool spin on it, although the fact that it's underpowered for a Final Form makes sense in the context of the series.

Hajime is honestly the only redeeming factor of the show in terms of plot and characters. Everything else is dull and pretty bad. Thereby creating my ever unpopular opinion that Blade is overrated and the worst Rider I have seen thus far.

Just how powerful is Ulitmate Kuuga, I know of the scene where Kuuga kicks one of the grongi in mighty rising and creates and explosion on the scale of a nuclear bomb.

Despite not having super powerful stats compared to other riders, Ryuki in either form has one of the strongest rider kicks if we are basing things on pure strength.

well, Kuuga has the potential to destroy the world with a single rider kick. I don't remember which form specifically, but I know he can do that.

*sigh* Winston, if you don't like Blade, that's one thing, but your constant whining about it just when someone MENTIONS the show is getting really tiring. Honestly, I don't always come crawling out of my cave when someone mentions Faiz and brag about how bad it was and how unpopular my opinion is either. The only arguments you ever bring are how "dull" and "bad" it is without really specifying your reasoning. I have a feeling all you want to do is provocate and honestly, that's not gonna help anyone. If you want to discuss properly, please do so. But if your arguments all just consist of "yooo, I don't like this show that everyone else likes because zomg it's so bad, lol, unpopular opinion", just use your time to post something more useful.

Beginning to end: Ryuki, W, Faiz, Agito, Blade, Gaim, Kuuga, Black.

Yeah, Kuuga's uh, rather crazy. It does lead to the police becoming a bit more involved though since they have to start working with Godai to figure out where he can actually fight and take out enemies.

Just had a chance to watch Agito episodes 18-19 and I have to say I'm incredibly impressed. Not only did those episodes pull a really good bait and switch, but it gave me a little tidbit of wisdom to carry with me too.

I really like the motto Hojou's mentor used (and ultimately betrayed) "reject narrow views, use the truth to uncover more truth". Those two episodes really hammer that in and it's due to really good cinematography and writing.

Everything leading up to Hanamura's murder was really well crafted, showing Houjou leaving his car at the same time Hanamura was getting on his bike, and going straight into his death at the park had me convinced that Houjou had a grudge against this guy related to his mentor's sister's death.

I spent an entire episode waiting for some slipup or for someone to put some pressure on Houjou when he suddenly freaks out at the sandwich. I thought it was going to be one of those tell-tale heart moments but then he goes to examine the evidence and I start to get suspicious. Finally he confronts his mentor and accuses him of murder and I'm ready to call bullshit. No way was he going to shift the blame of this murder on his mentor, just like I assumed he tried to use the current Grongi's M.O. as a cover for his first crime.

The whole accusation, showing that Houjou may be an asshole, but he's still a detective made me think a little better about the guy. Just a little though, if I had a .gif of him getting punched into that car I'd loop it as my desktop background.

Agito continues to impress and I'll keep chunking out episodes as I get time. I think 2 episodes is usually a complete story following the format used in Kuuga.

With Agito you could sort of apply it to a two episode arc thing but it doesn't follow so strictly as the series flows through quite well in of itself.

It is a good feeling to see my good friends all watching agito, it is a great series.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find gifs of Hojo being punched but there are several more scenes where that happens so you might find one there.

Hibiki Episode 26: Well I just love seeing Hibiki and Asumu together their relationship has grown and it's just fun. Asumu's drum practice was fun and can't wait to hopefully see Hibiki take him on as his pupil; just natural progression right? I haven't seen any spoilers from this show so it will be a surprise to me what happens. It was intriguing to learn about the Summer Makamou and how they work and that why Hibiki is the Summer Savior here; it makes me wonder why can't Ibuki get an evolved form to take them down? I mean I understand Todoroki is a bit new but it's interesting to learn more about. Ibuki had an almost heart crushing moment when Kasumi called him like a little brother, his smile turned very quickly lol. Intrigued to see who he is going after and I enjoy his time with Kasumi and thinking of Asumu as a little brother too. Todoroki was kick ass today, loved his Rider Punch and Kick as his guitar finisher like normal. I felt bad how Hinaka and Hibiki teased him but it was all in good fun between friends. Interesting how their is a White enemy and Black Enemy I wonder why there is two and why they are doing this. Can't wait for more.

Agito is great however for me nothing tops Ryuki in the heisei era of Kamen rider.

well, Ryuki DID inspire Madoka.

Which is always aces in my book. I am glad I watched Ryuki first otherwise I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did.

Edit: If this is your first time through Kuuga you are in for a treat. That series single-handedly got me interested in Kamen Rider after I tried, and failed, to enjoy Kabuto.

and yeah this is my first time through Kuuga since I want to get through everyone of the Heisei series before getting decade and then I will get to the rest of Showa era series.

Kabuto is a mixed series for me, it has quite a few problems but it has amazing suits, great fight choreography and the one of my favourite secondary rider.

What exactly put you off Kabuto?

Tendou, for me, was the reason why I quit watching Kabuto.

You mean you didn't finish a series...... just joking don't take my shock so seriously :) and well, tendou is perfectly acceptable reason to not finish a series, Kagami should have been the main protagonist.

Also in all honesty, if were are bringing up character that would or did make people temporarily quit series than I would be also be guilty of this as well, curse you Masato Kusaka although I did eventually complete Faiz.

And here I am, the sole lover of Kusaka and having Tendou as my favorite (main) rider ever :lol

I've never even gotten past the first episode of Faiz. :lol

I agree with all the things that you listed as being good. And it goes repeating that the suit design was top-notch.

As for what I didn't like; let me preface by saying that I never finished Kabuto and it was my first foray into Kamen Rider so I didn't have any expectations going into it except that it looked like Power Rangers.

I think started losing interest after The Bee was introduced and more of the side riders started showing up. I think at the time Dragonfly had either just showed up or was introduced a little after but I liked him. Don't think I cared much for the other ones that showed up after, and it felt like the show was just adding new riders to pad out the episode count. Although truthfully, I never really jived with the main character either. It was a nice fake-out in the first couple episodes playing with expectations about who the main character was. But Mr. "Chosen by god" was pretty bland.

I've heard Ryuki is the series to watch if you like multiple riders in a show. Once I get done with Agito I think I'll jump there.
