MagiDragon was GREAT in concept. But execution? Very, very lacking. Both toy and show wise.

Best: Gokaiger could, in all honesty, if you removed the anniversary elements, stand as it's own series. Sure, you'd have to add pirate themed upgrades to fill in for the grand powers... But it's so firmly rooted into it's own concept BEFORE you hit the anniversary stuff it ends up working so vey, very well.

The past Sentai heroes end up replacing the typical victims of the day plots, but that creates an interesting thing. There ends up feeling like VERY little time is wasted. One-off episodes that don't matter in the grand scheme feel a bit less frequent than a lot of shows. And even THOSE I've enjoyed quite a bit. I don't think there's a single episode I've hated. And of course the cast, and characters. I even grew to love Walz Gil before he passed.

Hell, I could probably fill a book on what I think are all the best elements, so...

Worst: That it has to end, but, you know what they say about all good things.

Though for an actual thing, I suppose there's some weaker mech action littered through the show, though there ARE still some great mech fights.

while I cant really say what I think the best thing about Gokaiger is I can say what I think is the worst

the mecha designs with Gozyujin, Kanzen Gokaioh and normal Gokaioh being the exclusions. all of them are lacking in some way due to the way they were designed to work.

Magidragon is weak as all hell and looks terrible, Patstriker is just meh, Gaolion is really only there for the Shinken combo. Furai Maru is probably the most useful one out of the 4 as it can actually fight on its own. but really all of it comes down to the gimmick of the limbs opening up and the auxiliaries going inside the limbs, it really isnt a good gimmick imho

Best is easily the characters and their actors. So much fun.

The worst has to be the mechs. The Gokai machines other than the GokaiGalleon just Russian doll out of the Galleon and merge. They never do anything else.
MagiDragon looks very meh. It just feels too small considering the original MagiDragon.
Patstriker is very lackluster. Machine guns are cool though.
Gaolion is neat, but that's because I like him (I'm not a fan of his redesign, though).
Fuuraimaru is cool.
MachFalcon is meh as well.
And Gai's Gozyudrill was rather boring. I liked his dinosaur mode, but not the other two.

What Gokaiger Does Best-

Develop & use likable characters for interesting situations.

What Gokaiger Does Worst:

The Zords. Some of them look fine, I guess but most of them are hideous (and, in the case of 4 out of 5 Gokai Machines, POINTLESS).

To be entirely fair, "individual mechas appear in first episode or so, then always go straight to combining" is an unfortunately standard practice anyway. One could attribute that to many series.

Not that it's not a fair critique, mind you. I think I'd just lay it at Super Sentai in general, rather than just Gokaiger. :)

I agree wholeheartedly with both of you guys. I have a tendency just to enjoy the hell out of everything. I've loved all of the Super Sentai shows. Some more than others, but I still enjoy watching all of them. In my ranking list from most to least favorite, Gokaiger is not included because it is TOO awesome. It stands alone in greatness.

Best: The Carranger tribute episode. It was so WTF I couldn't help but grin.

Worst: NO ZYURANGER TRIBUTE EPISODE. :mad:

I get that, it's a rather common Sentai practice.
But there's like nothing connecting the character to their mech sans Red to the Galleon.

I just thought it would've been better if the Galleon was the sole mech, like in MegaRanger.

Worst: The mecha battles are rather boring a lot of the time to the point that I wonder why they bother every episode.

Best: Everything else. I look forward to every episode and have yet to be disappointed. Hell, I even enjoyed the show RAW. That's a first for me.
