Yes! Because obviously we're morons who make snap judgements about a character based on what gender has usually been that color in the past. Thank you Toei! We needed someone to save us from ourselves...

never fails to amaze me how we all stumble over each other to cry how un-sexist and enlightened we are over "that other person" people keep having to go back to OLD SCHOOL Sentai to justify the statement the guy was wrong. Yellow is more often a female character than male in modern sentai.... in the 20 years of power rangers it's a 3/14 ratio......that may not hold up to Sentai, but it still holds up.

The fact more female than male actors have been Yellow, wasn't what I was drawing attention to. It was this guy saying that because more have been Yellow that we would some how, in our little fanboy minds, draw the conclusion the male actor was feminine. That was my problem with it.

That's what I heard as well. But in the grand scheme of things who cares. Yes, a producer said something stupid but just watch and enjoy the show.

Thats a better explination then Toei thinking we're idiots.

I for one am all about some gender equality in my TV programs. Especially ones aimed at children as it gives everybody a fair role model to look up to. Would it really be so bad if little boys AND girls in Japan had strong men AND women to look up to consistently?

The Kyoryu Yellow reasoning is much more sound and far less insensitive that what was said in this interview. From a design stand point a Yellow wouldn't have worked, I get that. But this whole thing about mistaking a color for a specific gender is just ridiculous. There have been plenty of female Blues which use a shade very close to Kyoryu Blue. Aren't kids going to confuse him for a woman now too? Come on Toei :eyebrow

Right? Nothing like someone representing them to belittle their entire fanbase in one swoop of dumbassery. Least the second explination makes more sense. The Yellows would clash with each other, and make for a bad uniform. But you're right about something else.

Especially in Kamen Rider. When was the last time there was a strong Female Rider that didn't spend most of her time getting her rounded backside kicked? Exactly. There have been some strong female characters, though. Moune, Luka, for example. Even Ahim could beat down some Zangyack (Had to add that, OOO would've drop kicked me). I hope KyoPink turns out well. And not another useless pink who bakes cakes instead of fights... Sorry Eri. You know it's true, I know it's true, you were useless.

But of course, if she can go from prim and proper princess to badass princess who can dual wield guns in one hand, you know she can throw down :lol. And does Toei know that a lot of their out of country fans don't just include male fans, but female fans too? Seriously, they need to be careful what they say and just say the design was the problem. Or they could've done like what I did with my Sentai Designs and invert the colors a bit or add different colored accents to the design.
