And I would agree with you if the thing wasn't priced at $80. That's $55 more than I paid for the 2010 edition. No amount of diecast will make me think the increase in price is worth it.

I can understand the interest in it if you have a MMPR Megazord, but I also suggest taking a look at the 2010's secondary market price after the new one is released. I expect the 2010's price to drop like a rock at some point.

I wasn't going to because I got the 2010 one for 2 dollars at the flea market, but it looks so impressive I might want one.

True. As a sidenote: The team that developed the Titaniums for Hasbro was Galoob's former Star Wars Action Fleet team, not the Transformers Design team. Hence, despite Don Figueroa designing the characters for the toys, why the toys were not up to par. That same team(Action Fleet), is also responsible for the Star Wars Transformers.

Thing is, with the Dino Megazord, there aren't that many joints to weigh down, I'm confident that Bandai chose the "right" parts to mold in diecast. I don't think it's going to have joints that are prone to loosening over time.

I'm confident if they should've done it it should've been the original, and then just straight rerelease the 2010. This is like Bandai saying "We know want Megazord you want, and we love our fans, but instead here's this!"

Taking a figure as big as the '93 Megazord (if the molds are even still around) and adding diecast pieces you're looking at a $100+ figure. I know people would still buy it but it would be a tougher sell. I'm sure it was discussed but reissuing the 2010 megazord was probably just more cost effective.

I never had the original as a kid (hell, I wasn't even alive in 1993), so I'd love to have it. But I'm what you call, semi poor/semi rich, so it's hard for me to afford some of this stuff. Plus, I'm saving up to get:

A laptop
A camera
A DVD recorder
Passport
Money for Japan trip

I think they went for 2010 since it's compatible with the zord-builder system, and being that this is the 20th anniversary, diecast to them probably seemed like a nice touch.

If this wasn't the 20th anniversary I think they would've just done a straight reissue in a new box.

Also looking at it from another perspective, I think it works. Most of my friends don't follow sentai stuff like I do, but grew up on Power Rangers. When I told them that the dino Megazord was coming in diecast, they were impressed and surprised. So for current sentai collectors, maybe it doesn't seem like much and sounds overpriced, but for adults who haven't seen ranger stuff since childhood, it's impressive.

And I would've bought the hell out of it. This though? Not so much.

I only have the original 93 release, so this thing appeals to me since it is a different mold, has metal, and is compatible with the zord-builder system(though I'm not a fan of said zords themselves...weird I know but..yea the fact that it is even compatible is cool).

If my 93 version didn't lose parts, I would probably pass on this. However the finish looks nice too.
