No, it wouldnt be too easy, seems easier to understand then grabbin a cut sleeve, when those blades appear to be sharp.

I KNOW it's a kids show and god knows I'm not a huge fan of the quality of acting, but as a former film student this scene just annoys me.

It would make more sense for him to have missed a spear, and it narrowly miss him or Emma, making him want to train harder. I get the sentai translation thing, which I still find lazy, but when you have him strike the blades out of midair, really bust out some serious moves, then a cut to his arm (that doesn't even pierce the skin) drops him to his knees. I totally get censorship, I've written reports on it, but the fact he obviously hasn't been cut, yet dropped in pain,, makes him look an absolute pussy. It's just stupid, there's better ways to get the same effect without looking lazy and stupid with the writing.
