I thought this episode was actually at a new kind of awesome for ToQger. Tons of interaction between the cast, and I love Right's idea of each team member having an important part to contribute, and thus being leader in some way. He's fast climbing my personal ranks of favourite Red Ranger and is very, very near the top.
It's nice to see Schwartz come out and cause some havoc. I love how it's shown that he's nigh unbeatable, it's just his trains that have let him down. That was a really nice touch. Can't wait for more episodes, that was a ton of fun! |
I'm still trying to figure out if switching colours and weapons mid battle actually has a purpose or not.
It fits with the whole Imagination theme sure, but what pros does it have in battle outside of keeping your opponents guessing? If the Rangers used downsized versions of the Support Resshas and became like extra rangers without hiring new actors I could see that aspect being cool, but…it all seems pointless to me especially if the person who's not use to the someone else's fighting style and won't know how to properly use his/her weapon. |

I see it as all for purposeless fun, and I'm fine with that. :lol

Yeah the swapping gimmick sucks, but the action is usually well done enough to not care.

Hmmm, I don't know, there is a theme there somewhere, as badly portrayed as it is. I think the suit gimmick combined with this episode's insistence that everyone is a leader when it matters kind of hit it on the head. It's all a heavy handed but all too vague metaphor for kids being able to do anything they want if they put their minds to it, everyone having a role to play.
Fact is I think this show is being too subtle for its own good, drowning what little purpose there could be in layers of silliness and fun times. Still, I love this damn show. The characters are becoming characters. It's be no means an instant winner like a certain other series is. |
Yeah so far ToQ is certainly not toppling my favourite, Goseiger, but like Kyoryuger it's providing big thrills and so far it isn't as nearly bogged down in filler as that show was. So I can appreciate it for what it is, especially as Gaim is providing something a bit more fulfilling beside it.

I didn't have a good feeling at the start of this episode; mostly because it reminded me too much of Goseiger (which I hated).
Overall though this was pretty decent. Schwartz is an impressive fighter and I can't wait to see what he does next to try and match the ToQGers. |
