If we're doing cartoons that feature some sort of giant robot/Henshin sequence then I'm going to have to say Cardcaptors and Flint the time detective. I loved those shows as a kid, and if i could get them in dvd/Bluray i would. And I guess Medabots counts, and mega man NTW and Digimon tamers (sort of)...

To derail the thread slightly,can anyone help me identify a show that's been bugging me for years? I remember watching it on fox kids, I think, where a man could sort of transform into what I think was like a red ninja/samurai by absorbing cards. And his allies also became cards if they died and he could absorb them too to gain different powers etc. Any ideas anyone?

Since you've, some of you've, wanted a clear definition of what I mean.

Any animated series where the hero/heroine transform in some way shape or form.

Things like this. Tron: Uprising counts to. Since he uses half of Tron's disc to become the new Tron.

And because it's an awesome show worthy of god-worship.

Henshin Hero:

A Henshin Hero has distinct normal and powered "forms," and needs to actively switch between the two. In essence, the character's powers are all turned off while he or she is in his Secret Identity.

Henshin Heroes often have a special item which they use to change into their heroic form. These items are usually activated by a command phrase, triggering a Transformation Sequence.

The transformation is frequently accompanied by a costume change. This gives the trope some overlap with Clothes Make the Superman: many male Henshin Heroes wear power-armor of some kind, and their transformation allows them to don their armor almost instantly. Bonus points if the change of clothing is the only outward difference, but nobody notices.

The name comes from the Japanese term for the trope, henshin (literally meaning "change body" but more practically translated as "transformation" or "metamorphosis" ... and not to be confused with the Shapeshifting or Metamorphosis tropes).

Not strictly limited to anime — there have been innumerable live action Sentai series in Japan, most notably Super Sentai, the series which was re-edited into Power Rangers in the United States, and 2003's Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.

A very western form of Sentai is to feature five teenagers recieving powers, with a transformation, i.e. it doesn't have to involve color-coding, or full body suits.

Bottomline: This thread is asking for animated Henshin Heroes and animated Sentai, not Tokusatsu. Is that so hard?
