P.S.: Anyone ever realize that despite Mighty Morphin' being dinosaur-based, Saban and Co. never really dealt with the matter too much in Season 1! It's simply the given motif, but no genuine explanation was given at that time as to "Why dinosaurs?" http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/E...ne!_Gouryuujin |

If the toys are selling, kids must like it well enough. If that's the case then saying its not getting a "great reception" isn't exactly true. It not appealing to the wider demographic of fans is a different matter entirely. |

You'll never see them do something like Bootleg Power Rangers because we aren't the target audience nor will we ever be. At the end of the day, Saban is a CEO of a big company and to him, all he cares about is making money. He dosen't care about you, he doesn't care about the fans, nor does he care about story, so deal with it. |

I wouldn't say never, depends on who owns the license. It's most probably true, but it's only improbable for it to have a massive target demographic shift, not impossible.
I personally doubt it ever will, but, who knows, maybe they might start making a sub-line of shows aimed at older fans, like how the toys work, with stuff like Legacy and Figuarts. |

And when it comes to a massive demographic shift...if you're going to insist on looking at the slim chance of it happens, then you also need to analyse why. Why anyone who would want to buy the licence from Saban would want to go with that huge risk. And it is a huge risk. The 'adult demographic' you're talking about doesn't exist as a comprehensive whole. You have those who like things as they are, those who simply want series like RPM, or Lost Galaxy, and then there are those who want things like...that bootleg. But even ignoring that, there is a much larger reason that anything massively different than what we have now is next-to-impossible. And that is, that Power Rangers relies on toy sales to function, and adult fans buy far less toys then kids do, because everything has to be perfect if it will live on a shelf, whereas a kid is just happy to have their favorite character to play with. Less toys bought, and those toys needing to be a higher quality means a far narrower profit margin, if any at all. Which makes continued production of an 'adult' Power Rangers series impossible to sustain. Which is why that second idea is impossible. Producing two series simultaneously would be a massive drain - even if, as you say, the second were to be much smaller. Why bother with that drain if only one series would be a profit anyway? |
