I've judged all Red's by Takeru since, and have on occasion have found them wanting.

And just the way the show kept me invested throughout, while even Go-Busters I admit had moments for me where I tuned out for a few weeks.

Funny how Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai was my first Super Sentai also. My friend got a bootleg VHS copy of it and I was like "WTF is this?!".

During the days of things like LimeWire, I stumbled across a file called Power Rangers Wild Force Japanese or something of that ilk. Being a kid big into PR but no methods of recording it (Since blank tapes were becoming more difficult to find), I scooped it up. Turned out to be Gao vs SS
Didn't understand a single thing that was happening, but it looked hella cool :lol

It was kind of a pain beause the only things subbed were Gaoranger, Hurricanger, and Abaranger, which were all done by bootleggers with Engrish subtitles.

Nihon started with Dekaranger.

Now the guy I got my DVD-Rs of Dai and Zyu from subbed only the four Kibaranger episodes to Dai and the Dragon Ceasar 2 parter with the two episodes after that for Zyu. I have no idea why only four episodes from each show were subbed, but boy did it make the video quality look like horseshit. Still, it was better than nothing. Then again, just having raws was better than nothing.

I missed out on the whole tape trading thing. I lived in Buffalo NY where we were pretty much in a bubble compared ot the rest of the country.

My first Sentai was Go-Onger it was like on episode 35 when it was airing but I loved it enough to quickly catch up and to check out other shows, so blitzed through Gekiranger as well while keeping up with Go-Onger, and Shinkenger was the first one I watched all the way through while it was airing.

Not really got that many to watch through now at this point.

Not even at China Towns or local comic book shops? I got into tape trading in very late during the end of that era in the early 2000's. Hurricanger and Ryuki was the last Toku TV series that I remember seeing that had VHS fan subs before we enter the age of digital fan subs (2003-current).

Dekaranger.

Still a favorite.

We didn't have a Chinatown. You had to go to Toronto for that and just going to a beach 45 minutes away was considered a vacation by my parents. In fact, the only time they have ever left Buffalo was to visit us back in 2009.

Comic shops only sold comics or rented VHS tapes, but they were official copies, no bootlegs.

Bioman was the first. They did very good localized translations into English back then. Also Bioman back to back with Shaider at that time. Although until today I'm still miffed that the Vavilos transformed to its robot forms only a couple of times in the show. lol.
