Wow, well I think Japan is just like every other country that has DVR/Streaming/and Other capabilities that people are watching TV other ways and Network Ratings are an archaic way of measuring right now.

The decline feels natural, still I hope that it helps.

Will this change in timeslot do for Sentai's target demographic? While I don't think Kamen Rider will be effect that much, just look at what they're getting away with in Ex-Aid, one of the main reasons for Sentai's choice to aim at younger demographic was because of the change from an afternoon timeslot to an early morning one. Do you think serious Sentai will start being a bit more common now?

I would imagine that Toei would end up changing the timeslots for those shows as well. From what I've seen, the kids that like Kamen Rider and Sentai in Japan also like the kids anime like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On, Pokemon and the other Sunday morning anime.

Imagine being a kid and you can't pick on which show you want to watch next since they both air on the same time.

Um... that's what DVR and streaming is for.

I had that happen all of the time when I was a kid. I had to record Gargoyles THe Goliath Chronicles and watch it later because it aired at the same time as Power Rangers. Voltron The Third Dimension would air at the same time as Beast Wars.

What streams? Does Japan even have catch up streams?

Not to mention we're talking about little kids here, not internet-savvy adolescents and above.

I had that happen all of the time when I was a kid. I had to record Gargoyles THe Goliath Chronicles and watch it later because it aired at the same time as Power Rangers. Voltron The Third Dimension would air at the same time as Beast Wars.

1: How would it mean shorter episodes?
2: Stock footage inherently isn't bad, and Jetman ABUSED stock footage for fight scenes for example with Gai and Ryu yelling Double Jet Beam or whatever every 2 episodes. Even then, if they want to have more screen time, they can! Ex-Aid used stocl footage for a bunch of the form transformation, yet had no opening for a few months because the writer wanted more screen time for his story
3: Originality isn't something limited by the time slot, it's something the writers have to come up with

Don't kids these days have better use of the Internet than most of us did in the 90's. Since most of us grew up with dial up Internet with no streaming websites (or at least major ones like Youtube).

As has been stated, Japan doesn't have catch-up streams like the US and UK do. Kids will have to choose between Kamen Rider and Dragon Ball Super. And, lets face it, it'll probably lose.

Sentai is still airing in the morning, so I doubt the episodes’ length will change.
