I find it kind of funny how Vice made a contract with child Ikki to protect his family, yet the first thing he does upon materialising in episode 1 is to try to eat Ikki's mother.

Also, young George cursing is one of the most hilarious things I've heard.

I do like how they're playing around with the 'terrible dad' trope in that the dad isn't evil or terrible, but his demon is. Also, with the reveal that the Igarashi siblings have Giff genes in them, the 'terrible dad' trope is also technically applied to Giff, which is kind of funny in a lot of ways.

How did Genta get the driver, btw?

I just assumed that Vail possessed the driver and flew to Genta. I might remember incorrectly, but didn't we see Vail possessing the driver at Weekend's base?

Those are some nice and plausible explanations of why Vice can be different and contradicting at Ikki's childhood. Though glad the difference of his behavior is noticed here.

Obviously, since ep. 13 Vice and Ikki went full buddy-buddy. Which is why it feels like Vice on Ikki's childhood took after current Vice's behavior more despite that it's in the past (and Vice at the beginning was malicious to Ikki as well, only helping him so he can survive and having hard time to comply to Ikki's wants for his selfish reason). Nasty string is also a plausible explanation.

Technically, previous dads like Soichi was like this too as it was Evolt possessing him. This seems to be a recurring trend in Revice as well, with previously there's Daiji who didn't actually hate Ikki despite having insecurity to him (their 'feud' was only about Daiji's professionalism) but Kagerou was the one to hate Ikki and wants to get rid of him. There's also Wakabayashi who isn't actually an evil traitor in Fenix (as well as him mercilessly belittling Hiromi I guess), but it was Chameleon Deadman who killed Wakabayashi since 1st episode and disguised as him.

I can't say I called it, since there are a few details I got wrong, but I was pretty close! So the Igarashi siblings aren't quite kids of the Devil, they're his grandkids. While the real Yuki Joji analogy is actually Genta, who is not Gif but was implanted with his DNA, as means "to keep him alive". His heart is connected to his own devil, Vail, who seems to be even more depraved than Kagerou, showing no intention of negotiating with his host. I thought Vail was talking to Ikki about, "the family you always wanted", but based on Buu-san's hint and Ikki's testimony, looks like that part was addressed to Genta instead and he appears to show contempt for Ikki's younger siblings, not even talking to them directly. Only Ikki and Genta.

This makes my recent Olteca theory look even more plausible. Now that we know the Igarashis' relation to Gif, it might give new meaning to what Vail said to him before. "You smell like a devil." Maybe Olteca really is an Igarashi after all!

If Vail killed Ikki, Vice would've died as well. Vice protecting Ikki is still selfish, even if it wasn't conditional. Not sure why that specific condition though, since it's not clear how Vice benefits from that.

For a self-proclaimed genius, Olteca in this episode has pretty much no idea what to do, now that he can't henshin anymore. The way he casually makes more Giftarians is like how someone plays with a toy when they're bored. Even Akaishi seems to patronize him here. And yeah, after Kamen Rider Saber, seeing someone treat a promise as something that can be easily broken really makes me lose respect for Olteca. Sure, breaking a promise might yield short term benefits, but that doesn't mean you should. All it does is make you a liability and turn people against you. If Olteca doesn't have the confidence to keep a promise, then he shouldn't have made it.

Genta didn't get the Driver. The Driver got Genta!

I've been kind of dragging my feet on keeping up with Revice for the last few weeks. I got caught up on the previous two episodes earlier this week, though, and just finished this one. Really wish I hadn't waited, because holy crap did this episode knock me for a loop. I knew that the Chekhov's bathhouse fire was obviously going somewhere, but i never expected to see Papa Igarashi just show up with the Demons Driver, rocking it like it was nothing. I do have some questions about the whole Vice and contract deal, but this episode threw a bunch of answers at us and I really enjoyed how unexpected and intriguing it all was.

Actually, that's exactly what would happen. I don't know if the show will go there, but the science tracks.
