George explained that the Crow Vistamp would destroy either Live or Evil, granting the survivor an independent existence. So this was a rare chance for Kagerou to try and kill Daiji, at the risk of Daiji being forced to kill him instead.

It's strange though, to see George show concern for Daiji. I guess even George has moral standards above Akaishi. I don't think this means that George didn't care about Hiromi though, I feel like he was always intending for Hiromi to give up the Demons Driver before it killed him, so he could have a chance to recover. The Crow Vistamp caused a life-or-death scenario, which was more immediately dangerous, so George's response was proportionate to that.

Kind of like how I'm bitter about RealEyezing Hopper for usurping Zero Two's screentime.

Unpopular opinion here based on my observations in this thread, but yeah, I'd prefer that. I think Daiji is a better and more complex character, so me wanting more focus for him has nothing to do with him being the Secondary Rider.

The Secondary Rider isn't the second most important guy, just the second face. Like for comparison, the Sixth Ranger isn't necessarily more important than the Black Ranger. It's a misconception that importance to the plot is a deciding factor of who's the Secondary Rider, which explains the annoying discussion you've been subjected to throughout the years. But please don't misdirect your frustration to the proud title of Secondary Rider. It's not their fault that some fans have biased expectations for them.

I see both motives being true. Before Kagerou got any weaker, he wanted to make a last all-or-nothing effort to supplant Daiji. But he was prepared to lose, so that at least one of them could become stronger from the other's death. It reminds me of the good white bird and evil red bird symbolism from inFamous Second Son.

Welcome back. Zenkaiger's finale wasn't as climactic as the rest of the final arc, but I thought it was a fitting way to end the show. I hope you can find soon so you can watch it!

At least Olteca is intriguing and has a backstory of feeling misunderstood. Akaishi is just generic evil guy with weird expressions.

I THINK Kagerou did genuinely want to defeat Daiji, but was well aware that he was growing weaker as Daiji was growing stronger. I guess he figured that if he was destined to lose to Daiji anyway, he could go down swinging and his death would serve to benefit his other half. The very definition of a love-hate relationship.

Yeah. There's seasons like Ryuki and Kabuto where the Secondary Rider is arguably the single most important character in the show since they receive the bulk of the character development, and other seasons where there could be one or a few more Riders besides the primary that are more important (I'd argue Genm and Para-DX are more important than Brave, even post heel-face turn and Chalice is definitely more important to Blade's story than Garren).

I think the Secondary Rider thing is more aesthetic than anything. They usually share a belt, usually have similar design elements, and their motif/theme is almost always the opposite of whatever the main Rider is (such as the beetle bros in Kabuto and Blade, Fire/Water in Saber or the Red/Blue duo that exists in 90% of Rider seasons). There's exceptions, though.

I thought for YEARS Chalice was Blade's secondary rider (TBF if Hajime didn't debut until around around episode 25 (in general not just as a rider) I'd not buy it)

pretty much how I feel the Daiji vs Kagerou arc could have(And quite frankly should have) lasted until near the end of the show or at least until the endgame(like Ren vs Desast) but no let's just cut it short so we can meet our toy release schedule
