So the rebranding rumors were true. I guess they're combining Sentai with Metal Heroes.

Oh goodness, I didn’t even notice. What a lost opportunity to decorate my profile, since we even have a 777-style Rider airing right now. I'm too old to be cool I guess.

We’ve had some of those, in fact Boonboomger was "a Sentai show" to me, and for how much I do like Gozyuger, it sometimes can't escape the clutches of being a Sentai show either.

Then again did we have some bangers recently. DonBros and KingOhger are so freakin' good, modern genre classics for sure.

So what I'm saying is - Sentai was perfectly able to be different and unique nowadays, but the title itself holds it back. So something new for a change might help.

Although the irony of it being Gavan of all names, the project that was Toei's big make-or-break Hail Mary pass in the past, is not lost on me.

This definitely sounds like a re-branding of sorts. Super Sentai isn't canceled but is being expanded upon under a new project connecting Sentai with Metal Heroes. I figure they'll be cycling Sentai and Metal Hero productions in and out every year or so.

So if I'm understanding right Red Gavan is going to headline a new shared tokusatsu universe which will slowly introduce new heroes or properties over time (maybe possibly based off of other Metal Heroes or new takes on Sentai).

I think that's kind of what I was getting at with my interpretation.

This is a mistranslation. The actual phrasing says Project RED will use Super Sentai as a framework, but will be its own thing.

Metal Heroes already borrowed extensively from other franchises. The Space Sheriff trilogy borrowed elements from Kamen Rider, Metalder is a loose remake of Kikaider, and later Metal Heroes like the Rescue Hero trilogy are basically Super Sentai. Project RED sounds closer to a spiritual successor to Metal Heroes.

Besides, if Sentai were to return, then Toei wouldn't be able to market this internationally at all.

I've got a four-pronged approach that's gonna knock them off their feet.

So it's not Sentai, but it's still Sentai.

I hope RED still has ED themes and dances. Either that, or let Rider do them instead, like Saber.

If you press the Zeztz Driver trigger 4 times instead of 3, you actually get a finisher called Over Banish. So 7777 might also appear at some point!

Yeah, I don't want another frustrating show like Boonboomger either, I had to take like 2 whole hiatuses to get through that. Gozyuger is full of potential with its characters, but seems trapped by the format, in addition to the behind the scenes problems.

Based on the White Witch rumor, we could be getting Metal Heroes and Sentai in the same show from now on. Kind of reminds me of Sekai Ninja Sen, where a lot of the ninjas look more Ranger-like. Or Zenkaiger, where the Kikainoid Rangers could pass as Metal Heroes. Or CarRanger, where Signalman is like a Metal Hero instead of a Sixth Ranger.

I wonder if the White Witch character will take cues from Majade.
