I don't know if I want to do the tournament or not. I kinda do, because none of you guys EV train. I do have a couple of teams that are though. I've got a few very gimmicky strategies also..and then I don't remember which game all my Pokémon are in.(The problem with having every single game)

Well, just reached White Kyurem, and I thought I should mention that it was the most anti-climactic battle I've ever seen. I can sum up the entire battle in 3 sentences.

Kruger (the Lucario) used Aura Sphere, It's Super Effective! A critical hit! Kyurem fainted.

I guess Momotaros > Kyurem.

Ok I found my DS, my adapter, and I have a team of Pokémon ready for battle. They're not much, but we're just playing for fun I guess.

I'll be up for the tournament if you guys could teach me what is what. I've only battled with someone online once or twice (and that was in Generation IV) before so I'll need to learn how to work the multiplayer. If that's ok, then I'm game!

These legendaries have gotten me really intrigued. It is beyond clear that they're playing off the X and Y chromosome concept, but what exactly are they planning? How will genetics and DNA tie into the story? TELL ME, NINTENDO, TELL ME!!!

Fair play, they have a kind of greek/latin feel to them. Guess they really are going all out with the european style.

I think I'm going to have to get Y, Yveltal reminds me of the Helmaroc king from wind waker a little bit.

Im getting x. Xerneas looks like he could fit with the musketeer trio from black/white.

Seriously. I've been with them since the original 151 (yes, I count Mew even if it wasn't obtainable without cheating back then.) I've had at least 2 games in each Gen.

Gen I- Pocket Monsters Yellow (Pokémon Yellow, first ever game, JP version, broke), Pokémon Blue (first US Game), Pokémon Yellow (US Version)

Gen II- Pokémon Gold (lost T_T,) Pokémon Crystal

Gen III- Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon LeafGreen (sold), Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon Colosseum.

Gen IV- Pocket Monsters Diamond (Pokémon Diamond JP Version, bought it when it was first released, while I was still living in Japan), Pocket Monsters Pearl (Pokémon Pearl JP Version, bought it after beating Elite 4 in Diamond), Pokémon Diamond (Bought in Philippines), Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold.

Non-Capture games- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, Pokémon Dash (JP Original Release Version), Pokémon Ranger.

I've never made it past the first dungeon in any of the pokemon dungeon games. Im hoping I like the 3DS one though. I also really liked conquest.. for the first few hours then I missed the exploration side and couldn't be bothered with all the micro management =/

But yeah I too have had at least one game from each gen. Black 2 is the first time I've had a third game sort of thing though, and with the amount of Uni work i have this year i might just finish it in time for Y =p

Yup, well in games. Misty's no longer in the group in the anime.

So there's been speculation about the theme of this generation. I believe all generations since Generation II has had one or two themes. For instance, Gen II tackles tradition and modernity, Gen III tackles earth, sky and sea, Gen IV tackles time, space and antimatter, and Gen V tackles Yin, Yang and the absence of balance.

We know Gen VI is going to handle DNA and genetics somehow, due to the double helixes in the Japanese logos and the fact that X and Y reference chromosomes. There are other ways the story might go. Some have speculated that the DNA references life (and possibly death, if Nintendo is brave enough), and that the overall theme might be a reference to the Nordic Yggdrasil, Tree of Life.

How have they come to this hypothesis? According to Wikipedia, there are three types of creatures that live in Yggdrasil:

Yveltal looks very much like an eagle, while Xerneas resembles a stag. That's two down, leaving a third (the dragon), enough to form a trio for three games. It also allows the game to keep its DNA and life theme since Yggdrasil is considered the root of all life.

If the premise is life (and death), it may be far more exciting than the sci-fi theme I was dreading. Can't wait for Game Freak to reveal more. :)

Gen 2 was purity, Gen 3 was balance, Gen 4 was the universe beyond what we normally comprehend, and Gen 5 was morality.

What was wrong with Emboar? I liked Emboar..

Being 3rd straight after a string of Fire/Fighting types already put him on a lot of people's hit list.
Then being inferior to Blaziken and Inferape put him an even more people's hit lists.
Then being the 2nd Chinese design influenced Fire/Fighting starter put him on even more people's hit lists.
Also not helping his case is his poor design, bland movepool, and unremarkable stats compared to the other starters.

Basically, Emboar hit every wrong chord at the perfect time.

I don't think Emboar himself is a terrible design. Being a fire/fighting Journey to the West-based design is pretty cool, if Infernape didn't come before him, and Blaziken before that. Everything bad about him is simply a "been there, done that" thing, and while Game Freak tried to spice up the formula by making him a slow heavy-hitter instead of an agile fighter like Blaziken and Infernape, not many people like slow heavy-hitters.

Plus, he was overshadowed in his own generation by two other extremely cool final evolution starters, namely (the coolest grass starter ever) Serperior and (a freaking samurai) Samurott.

He's not a bad Pokémon, just a really uninspired choice. He's grown on me, too, but I can't say he's really cool compared to the other two starters.

And Fennekin better NOT evolve into a fire/fighting, but it's still a sad possibility.

Meh. Torterra > Sceptile > Serperior. Serperior is cool compared to it's starter partners, but on the whole it's nothing special design wise.

The problem I have with Fennekin is that both Torchic and Tepig were both pure Fire showed no Fighting type traits when they debuted, so Fennekin is still up on the chopping block until we get it's evolutions and confirm it's not half Fighting.

Actually I'd argue that Serperior is fantastic design-wise and the best-looking grass starter. He doesn't have the best moveset or stats around, but a French grass snake is just cool to me.

I know what you mean about Tepig. Like Tepig, Fennekin is a four-legged creature that could ambiguously end up as a Fire/Fighting type. Please, please don't let that happen!

On the other hand, I prefer Chespin and Froakie so there's that to fall back on.
