I was impressed with today's episode! It was MUCH BETTER than the Samurai opening! Plus, no annoying Goseiger sounds!!! :D

Wasn't bad. Kinda wish they'd done more hand to hand fighting before bringing out the weapons, but it did what it needed to do, I reckon. :) Looking forward to seeing how we get to the Legend War stuff they're already teasing . . .

I honestly can't wait for the next episode! The show feels just like a continuation of MMPR.

I had actually forgotten about the premiere today. It's a good thing they advertised it during the TMNT episode. Otherwise, I would have missed it. I actually enjoyed the episode. I was expecting certain similarities to MMPR, but I wasn't expecting it to be so similar. I'm actually not sure how I feel about all the similarities. Part of me was actually hoping for some form of...maturation to have happened over the past twenty years. Maybe that part of me was expecting too much from Power Rangers...lol
I'll most likely watch more of Megaforce, but I can't say that I'm going to put any real effort into following it. |
I really like the fact that they added a bit of Legend Wars into the main opening sequence that kinda topped all for me .

Because it's not going to interfere with my ponies on Saturday mornings, I'll try to keep up with it.

|
I'm guessing this has aired already on the East Coast?
|
Definitely brings back some memories. From Zordon being Gosei's mentor, to Ernies, to the last line, everything. 5/5.
|
Personally, I'd love for this Ernie to reveal that he bought the place from another guy named Ernie from Angel Grove.

Glad to hear it seems to be better than samurai, though I won't get to see it until someone uploads it online

I forgot about it and forgot to set it to record. Dammit!

Just watched it on my DVR; not a bad first episode. It certainly didn't fill me with that feeling of creeping dread that Samurai's "first" episode did. The characters seem pretty decent, the acting is acceptable, and it's not just a retread of the Sentai like last season. All of the continuity nods were pretty fun; I lost count of all the throwbacks to the first episode of MMPR, but they were all cool but subtle. I still wish we were getting Gokaiger instead, but I don't really have any major complaints.
The only thing that I really didn't like is how incredibly this year's headquarters looks. A cave with a big face on one end, a couple pedestals, and the walls of Ranger Keys? Clearly Gosei and Tensou have not spent their centuries of guardianship studying interior design on the side. |
Starting off with the Legend War is great, and before we see the cast, we've already gotten Gokaiger 1 and 23 footage as well as Goseiger 29 footage. I think grnrngr said this was a first to see the next season's footage in an episode.
Noah is trying too hard to be nerdy. Stopping to focus the camera on Gia's body? In a kid's show? Interesting. A few minutes ago, we saw Malkor talking to Creepox in what looked like american footage. Then a minute later, we see Malkor and Vrak in front of the screen in Goseiger footage, looking completely different. That was confusing. First Mr. Burley being like Ms. Appleby, then Ernie's and fans that look like Lord Zedd's palace. Subtle. Gosei's command center looks like the mountain where the Gosei Headers came out, and likely where the zords come from, but this has a long stretch of high land, where as the formation with the zords is out in the middle of the sea. Maybe it's somewhere different. Gosei embodies the Earth. That makes the whole land, sea and sky power thing make sense. I think Tensou is really cute. I like him. Teenagers with attitude homage. There we go, but paraphrased. Here's where we heard from people in NZ on the Ernie's place in a mall. "ice cream bar teens"? Ok, Jake's obsession with Gia is getting out of hand, and weird in a way. Why is "Ernie" surprised to see the $20 bill? Is he leaving $14 as a tip or does Jake never pay in that high of an amount? Not really explained. Oh, there's another homage with the teleporting. The following scene with Troy teleporting as he was kicking did look cool. Scientifically impossible to be teleported? Maybe, but could Noah be a bit more open minded to possibilities in technology? Even Ethan wouldn't said it was impossible, but cool instead, and wondering how it happened. The Ranger keys we saw over a month ago get explained and we see them up close. I wonder if Gosei will say after the Legend War that he captured their powers and put them in the keys? Gosei said he's been asleep for years and watched Earth for Zordon...but C2D was 15 years ago. I wonder if we'll find out when he knew Zordon. Why didn't the teens ask who Zordon was, but they didn't know what rangers were? Why is Jake's pedestal green? The 5 changed their mind on whether they were meant to be rangers rather fast. Mega Rangers! So the guy at PMC that referred to the suit actors as Mega Rangers was right. The fight starts and Noah quickly runs away Billy style. Two fascinatings from Noah within 1 minute? Sounds like Ethan, though, again. Jake using his soccer skills for fighting reminds me of both Conner and Rocky, Adam and Aisha in MMPR. I doubt I'll get used to the cards saying the Goseiger phrases on them. At least the morpher talks like the toy. Yay. This fight was a mix of Goseiger 1 and 18 footage. And then Emma is suddenly taller than Gia in the Goseiger footage. =/ They went from fighting loogies in a thriving city to fighting Scaraba in ruins? Weird. Though, I have to say the BGM complaint I had from the summoning weapons clip feels a lot better in the actual episode. The BGM doesn't feel out of place and does make the scene feel right. The clip just messed it up. Scaraba calls them loogies, yet Nick.com says they're nameless monsters? Metaphor? I felt like this big fight could've been slowed down or shortened. I wanted to get to know the team a bit more and their powers. The episode felt rushed because of this. It kept moving without letting things sink in. I felt like I heard "Power Rangers Megaforce" in the background like 6-7 times during the fight with Scaraba. The helmet hair comment wasn't too bad. I didn't feel bothered by any of the MMPR references. I'm sure people will make lists of the references. My only real complaint was with the pacing. It kept moving and the ranger fight felt confusing at times because it was just to constantly show things off. Plus transitions between scenes felt awkward with the Goseiger footage at times. The backgrounds kept changing in between shots. Plus Brajira in the opening. :D |
Just watched Mega Mission on my DVR and I have to say... I loved every damn second. Starting with him dreaming about The Legend War, straight on through to the final scene of them together under the Lighthouse. One thing I need to say straight away is that they couldn't have found a better voice for Brajira. It was exactly how I hoped he'd sound, dead on. And, of course, Gia was perfect. So perfect. But onward!
I know some of you will give them grief because the cards were in Japanese, and said Seaick and Skyick, but I will not be joining in your senselessness. I loved they kept the original cards and such. And it can be all explained away as those being their names in Gosei's original language. Which, in a way, is true. The acting alone was so much better than Samurai. No, it wasn't perfect. But you people seem to have a high standard for what is a kids show. I love this cast after just one episode. And I love the story they chose. I love they brought back Ernie's, and I love.. everything! Saban did me so proud. He honestly did. |
Saban's soul has been spared... for now.

Definitely better than Samurai's premiere.

Just finished watching and man was I pleasantly surprised. The acting was much better than I hoped for (samurai set the bar pretty low). I can't wait for Gosei Knight to appear.
I'll definitely continue to watch! |
i wish saban follow story line of zyuranger for mmpr s1
|
One thing I wish I taped was my girlfriend almost peeing herself, laughing hysterically, when they called Gosei a 'Giant Tiki'.
|
i love it - dumb beetle fall off big boulder

Finally found the episode.
For a premiere, this was pretty OK. Its a bit rushed and forced in parts but overall the action is very well shot, the cast works well together (though I'm still not convinced of their acting abilities just yet) and though they are stretching perhaps a bit too hard for MMPR homages I did find myself at least kind of smiling at them so the efforts weren't entirely wasted. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 for the moment. Maybe this year won't suck after all. |

Still nothing compared to Danny Slavin ripping his shirt off in the opening of every. Single. Episode. Of Lost Galaxy. (Don't tell me girls don't watch PR, haha!) |

The episode is a 7 out of 10 for me. Good setup, not enough time to resolve everything.
Rangers Key closeups in Gosei's command rock is BITCHIN'. Why is the camera focusing so much on Gia's body? Maybe fan service for the older fans to make up for how much they tried to fit in this episode and failed. |
