VR Troopers song is stuck in the brain.
And now I regret not buying a Shaider figuarts when I had the chance(reason I did not buy it was because I don't know if I could handle maintaining something with plated paint). |
I love a lot of Metal Hero - Gavan and Juspion (especially Juspion!) being my faves.
I think Janperson alternates between inspired lunacy and horribly dull which makes for a rough watch, though when it's on it's so good! Not a big 'Rescue Mission' fan, though I could stand to watch some more. One show I'd lov to see more of that isn't strictly MH, but was considered as such is Blue Swat! The movie was pretty fantastic and the aliens were very weird. Apparently the first half of the series is like the movie: police driven sci-fi / horror with a side order of wacky Metal Hero action. When it was clear it was a bit too weird for the kids it was aimed at, they lightened the tone and added a robot hero to the team. Sounds perfect! |
my fav is jiban or jiban is japanese robo cop

Well, I finally finished Spielban after a long few months.
That show was goddamn amazing, holy shit. The pacing and tone of the show made it feel super fast paced and intense feeling every single episode, you feel the stakes against Spielban and Diana keep raising, they are all alone and are putting their 100 percent into everything they do, regardless of the circumstances. The drama/emotional part of the show is super well done. The first half or so of the show has Spielban looking for his kidnapped sister who is being used against her will and even if she's given space, she keeps running away to keep them safe and the actors are so well cast that you feel the emotions of those characters, trying to reach a common goal but having those setbacks affect it. The villains were super memorable too. This might be my favorite Machiko Soga villain role, this may even surpass Bandora, Soga makes for a classic villain who brings such enthusiasm and acting to the character that she makes it feel even crazier than what the writer intended to, and the variety in the villain cast, Dr.Bio's caring qualities, Deathzero's general feel, the creepy, eerie feel Guillotine brings, they just blend so well and make the Wahler Tribe a great villain cast. And the music, man the music was badass. Ichiro Mizuki singing every insert song may sound repetitive, but they all so sound so good and fit for what the show was going for, that it was all worth it(Except for Kesho da Spielban, that sucked). Excellent, excellent show that even if I watched raw, got a lot out of. Go watch it. |
Yeah, Speilban's great - kind of the forgotten MH series. Better than Shaider in my opinion!
Give Special Megabeast Investigator Juspion a try if you haven't - really good. The fights are almost on par with Gavan and Mad Gallan is just so badass. |
Another one worth checking out is Metalder. The ending (well, the retooling in general) was a disaster and I thought the main actor was kinda crummy, but it has so much going for it so you'll probably still like it.

And Shaider's actor is the grandson of Ultraman creator Eiji Tsubaraya who unfortunately passed away due to liver cancer, which is why they had never had the original Shaider not appear in Shaider Next Generation. |
