Thoughts on episode one?

Ranger pick apart:

RED: I like the feel of the actor of red outside of the suit. Inside the suit? I feel like he should be more manly/Gruff.

BLACK: I like his aloofness, and cool attitude, he is black. So why not?

BLUE: I despise blue... his over all goofery makes Doc look like a brain-surgeon... I hope for some character development, or even a replacement.

GREEN: He tickles my inner Sengoku war fetish I have. Dude wins at life.

PINK: ... Typical pink?


Over all of the episode? I defiantly entices me to watch more, could things be nitpickly different? Yeah sure. But, at the same time? Thus far I dig it.

I guess I'm different, I always dig the goofball characters. To me it looks like we're getting another really good Blue this year. Ryuji was awesome last year, he was the heart and soul of that team. I think Kyoryu Blue will bring alot to the table this year in later episodes. He just seems really wacky and fun, much like the show itself!

Just finished and I am definitely impressed.
This might be the first sentai series I try to get the merchandise, especially the upcoming candy toys.

Personally, I think they should have let blue be the 45 year old father the writers wanted him to be initially. It could have really added more depth to the show and given a reason for there to be a child there.

I really like Blue. I hope we see more of him.

Also this. I really like him alot. It's a shame they passed on the father back story, it would have made his work as a goofball repairman that much better. He'd be providing for his child.

A father backstory really would've been cool. It definitely would've completely shattered the mold for Sentai characters. Do we know if it's been completely dropped or if it just wasn't able to be pulled up in the first episode? (I wasn't keeping up with Kyoryu news)
It would've made sense, since he was the one to bring up keeping their personal and professional lives separate, that he was possibly suggesting it out of protection for his child.

Well, he does at least retain the idea of supporting a loved one, as he's supposedly helping out his younger sister and her daughter.

Enjoyed it even more with subs. I don't care what people say, GabuTyra's awesome. I love that it's a man in a suit. So much more personality than you'd get from their usual meh CG. It even got its own "pose in front of explosion" shot!

I already knew I liked KyoryuBlue,but man when they were doing the slow motion walking towards Red and he went to do the gun twirl and fumbled it,that sealed it for me.lol

Just finished watching this episode, and I find the series pretty fun to watch. Perhaps this will get me back into Super Sentai after Go-Busters kinda turned it off for me.

Man the bad thing about waiting for subs is that everyone would jump into the discussion ahead of you. :P

That was an EXPLOSIVE beginning to a series. Action-packed and thoroughly fun. Red strikes a nice balance between the typical idiot hero Super Sentai Red and a more capable warrior. All of the rest of the heroes have already shown their personalities in such a short time span, and they're pretty interesting.

There's a lot to cram into just one episode, and compared to most Sentai first episodes, I felt genuinely dismayed that the episode ended so quickly! I wanted to see more and more!

As said before, I love the Kyoryuger suits and they look even greater in motion. Pink's suit looks really good, in particular, it'll be up there among my favorite Pink Ranger costumes.

The villains look amazing! They're also really disturbing, like morbid harlequins. I also love the mook designs, form the footsoldiers to the giant lizard-things.

Overall, it's a FANTASTIC first episode and I am extremely pumped for the next episode. It can't come sooner!

Just finished watching it. I haven't been this excited for a Sentai since Gokaiger! Kyouyuger is REALLY GOOD.

I know, it's amazing! It was just so exciting.

I noticed they advertised the DX toys after the show in my rip. Does this usually occur after a Super Sentai episode? I think it's a good move, hopefully Kyoryuger would bring Sentai back up in ratings.

An astounding first outing! It kinda reminds me of both Wild Force and Dino Thunder but with SAMBAAAAAAAAA! Not revealing their identities to each other is a strange move but I'm sure there'll be some fun episodes to come out of it, especially Blue's.

One of us...one of us..lol.I do like the fact that they made King look super tough by showing that it took a month for him to beat Gabutrya.(And the connection they had when they were fighting the goons and did the whole switch angle)

I really liked this first episode! I agree that it felt like it was moving a bit too quickly but it definitely had an energy that Go-busters lacked. Not that I dislike Go-busters (currently trying to finish that series) but it feels a bit lifeless compared to Gokaiger and Kyoryuger. Let's hope they can keep up the energy throughout the series! Also, I liked the fact that most of the Gabutyra scenes were not CGI. Overall a great first episode and I'm looking forward to next week!

Dancing part will take some time to get used to, aside from that me likey.

Yeah, I wonder if the dancing is really nessicary myself.

The dancing part is for the kids.Over there they want their kids to be active,and if I was still a kid and saw my favorite rangers dancing,i would too.Also noticed something during the end credits/dancing.At one point all five of them are dancing inside Kyoryujin.Does this mean all five will be able to combine in some way?

That doesn't mean we have to like it. It's out of place and stupid.

I'm not too fond of the dancing ED either but hey, I skip over the ED after the first episode anyway so what do I care lol.

Watching the episode now so I'll post my thoughts as I go along...

- The first Deboss guy looks really cool. Love that design.
- "What is that?" :lol
- That's a lot of people at the North Pole...
- This guy seems like my kind of Red :D
- Torin looks badass. I really hope we get a good Doggie-esque character out of him
- Yup, I already love Daigo
- Canderlira and Lakkiero are creepy as hell
- Blue reminds me of someone, but I'm not sure who...
- The grunts combining is awesome, even if the end result is a little nightmare fuelly :lol
- Wow, that dance transformation came completely out of nowhere. That might take some time to get used to.
- This episode is doing a good job of selling me on the roleplay toys
- That's a pretty epic finishing move.

All in all I'm very impressed. Its clear they were going for loud and flashy and they pulled it off without a hitch. I'm not sold on the dancing yet, but maybe that will come in time. I just hope the rest of the series can continue this, rather than this just being notably high budget because its the first episode.

That's why the dancing should be in the outro. I skip it. :p

So my quick thoughts - if the Deboss guys are RETURNING, it means they won in ages past given the ice age killed the dinosaurs off.

And since they know what a Kyouryuger is, we can infer there was a dinosaur Sentai team composed of dinosaurs way back when. And that they lost.

And they didn't JUST lose - they lost to the level 1 ice age guy, given it's also suggested he caused the ice age that wiped everyone out. Which suggests to me that they lost because dinosaurs a) can't samba and b) can't do very interesting victory/transformation poses due to their limb configurations.

For that matter, ice age villain dude is one of those "...IDIOTS" villains because, as we know, the Deboss guys were all frozen and thawing out. Gee, I wonder HOW they all froze over - could it have ANYTHING to do with, you know, the minion WHO CAUSED THE ICE AGE?

In all seriousness though, I enjoyed the episode. The fact I'm having fun poking holes is proof of that - this isn't the "Messiah is a godawful boss who makes even horrible supervillains look competent" reaction but instead the "I'm enjoying this enough to poke holes" reaction.

Man that first ep moved at breakneck speed. The dancing is really, really dumb though.

I loved the T-Rex mech. That's a cool suit. One of the rare occsions in sentai/PR where the guy-in-suit is more impressive than the toy's design.

Just got a chance to watch the first episode and I loved the energy and wackiness of it. The ranger characters all seem pretty interesting (well except for Pink who seems kind of standard) and I especially enjoyed Daigo and the Blue Ranger. The villains look ridiculous/awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I am in love with Ayuri Konno who plays Amy Yuuzuki AKA Kyoryu Pink. She's the most babelicious female sentai since Mao Ichimichi the Gokai Yellow. I will be watching every episode of Kyoryuger because of her. Sigh. :)

Despite its silly nature I found myself enjoying the first episode a whole lot. The dance part don't bother me one bit and I like the first roll call and the fight scenes very much. It's a very flashy kind of sentai series that is most definitely aimed at kids. I am sure when it's adopted by the Power Rangers the show is going to be a monster hit in the States.

Normally when a show is so completely silly, it's a bit of a turn off. But Kyoryuger really pulled it off. I had a smile on my face the whole time, so there's definitely something to be said for that. And Daigo's energy is so contagious, just watching him makes you get excited. A lot of red rangers tend to be the more serious/strong leader types, so it's nice to see someone with a more carefree attitude. He makes saving the world seem more like fun than some weighty responsibility.

Also, I've never seen a zord with as much personality as Gabutyra (or any personality for that matter). Maybe it's because I mostly watch Power Rangers as opposed to Super Sentai, but I just thought that was pretty cool. It was clear he liked Daigo from the beginning, and that Daigo was going to be Kyoryu Red, but instead of just doing the usual bit, I love the hard-to-get element that went on.

Super Sentai mecha usually have a lot more personalities than their Power Rangers counterparts. The best example of personable mecha are the Go-onger Engines, who are all individual characters in their own right. You're right though, that Gabutyra is a very memorable mecha in his own right and it's amazing how much they've done with their body language. :)

It says alot that they're using more miniature and suit style filming for Gabutyra. The Buster Machines in animal form (aside from Gorilla) were all CG. Only the occasional hand or foot was physical there. It's really nice to see a solid physical suit being used, and so well!

I enjoyed it a lot. From the brief snippets of the other guys, I enjoyed what I saw. Doc was my favourite Gokaiger, so I can see me digging Blue. I like how pink and black slide a few english phrases in to keep the idea that they're from across the world... however...

I get that it's super sentai, but why establish that the Deboss/Devoss (?) army are attacking across the globe then have them just conveniently relocate to Japan. Granted it's the first episode, for all I know they could go world hoping, which would be nice. For now though it just seemed odd and unnecessary.

King is awesome though, he's an excellent Red. And the mecha being sentient is sweet too, I actually enjoyed King and Gabu's relationship more than anyone and their Buddyroid. More interactions like this would suit me fine.

Also dancing to henshin is cool. I dig it. I need those weapons and batteries. Kind of reminds me of the end of Akibaranger's roll call =p

Just to clarify, the dance I was implying was the one Daigo did to change into Kyoryured. :) My apologies for being not too specific.
What I felt the show had was a pinch of Battle Fever J and B-Fighter Kabuto mixed in it with each member originating from various parts of the globe. I do like how they are continuing to use outdoor miniature scenes like Go-busters did and starting out with them not being a full team from the get go felt natural since they just met.

I wrote this in notepad as I watched the episode.

You know what made me truely smile? It was when GabuTyra rose from the Volcano and began running through the Jungle.. and he wasn't CG. It was good, old-fashioned, Toei. Yes, some parts were CG. But the majority wasn't and I really appreciate that. I do. And after seeing Torin for the first time I can not wait for that eventual Figuart. He'd look amazing next to an Ankh Greeed.
I'm still iffy on liking the theme song, I think it'll grow on me, but I am loving the word Voltasaur. I love that so much.
I'm at at the scene after Diago brings down Gabutyra and they show the Frozen Castle. It's so nice to see Vivi found work after FFIX, I always loved him. I think I'm going to like Lakk. In fact, so far, I'm really digging the emotional enemies. Gives them personality. Well more than Messiah or War Gills. Sorry War, I'll buy your figuart but you whined far to much.
I'm really hoping we have another Red and Black rivalry brewing like we had back in Jetman. So far it looks like, but we'll see.
IceAge confirms it. They really stepped up the Kaiju designs for this season. They are so far above what we saw in Go-Busters, they really took their time it looks like. Love it.
Am I wrong, or was there another group of footsoliders that could combine with each other to form a larger minion? I'm certain there was... I just can't remember which. Someone help me with that.
Okay, that goofy heshin will take getting used to :lol I do love a Gun-Henshin device though, I really do.
Midway through the team-up fight-scene and I am loving this show. Loving the weapons, loving the actors. We might've found something I'll defend more than Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

You can tell how much I loved the episode, because towards the end I stopped pausing the episode to write down what I thought. And just watched the show. It's official. We found something I love more than Goseiger. It happened!

Whats even more incredable? I watched it on an OverTime sub, and still loved it.

So I just caught this episode, and my feelings are kinda mixed. The action scenes are pretty fun, but I feel like I missed a whole ton of exposition somewhere. It just felt too rushed without explaining anything whatsoever. Why were all of the team members fighting the monsters at the beginning? Was everyone but Red a Kyoryuger already? Where did the monsters even come from? Why is the main villain guy for right now the Statue of Liberty? Why did Torin toss red a jacket so he could go into battle? And what the hell was with the heart woman?
All of that aside, I really enjoyed the fighting (especially Green), and the robo integration was a nice carry-over from Gobusters. The characters seem nice so far; I just hope they become a little more dimensional than they are right now (especially Green and Pink). It's probably just first episode blues, but it feels really obnoxious without substance right now.
