This is probably the weakest episode of the series thus far. It was far better than Wizard's episode arc, but I thought KyoryuGold was pretty cool until he started talking. Good god, he is another Genta.

I'm going to have to watch some Shinkenger and see why everyone hates Genta so much. Bringing the thread back on topic: I think Gold'll get better as the season progresses. I love his change brace, and I absolutely love his Pteragordon. Thats reason enough to give him a chance.

I liked Gold. He's not doing the jerk ass loner thing so many other Sentai are want to do.

I loved this episode. Really loved it.

-Canderila (Or Candelila? Whatever.) is just the best villain since Warz Gill. She's hilarious! Everything about her in this episode was funny, her song, her plan, her dancing to their morphing, making the Kyoryugers dress up as fanboys, just everything was perfect. I don't want to just say the people who hate her have no soul, but the reality is that if you hate her, you have no soul.
-I am liking KyoryuGold, I was very meh about him in his first episode because he seemed pretty damn generic, but he's turned out to be a really fun character and I love his Kabuki-themed morph and his confusion at modern things. The monster not being able to affect him because of his awkwardness around girls also made me laugh. Very funny.
-The Unicycle bit was... Weird. I think I'll just ignore it!
-I think the pulling out bones thing is probably a pun or Japanese urban legend we're just not getting. I'd be interested to find out what it was.

To people complaining about Kyoryugold leaving everyone in the dust, this is just standard sentai practise. The 6th Rangers always are OP for their first couple of episodes (and while their toys are hot on the shelves), but they always tone back into normal power levels after they've been hyped enough. Shinkengold is the only character I can think of that was always not-OP, even on his first appearance; Even GokaiSilver was crazy strong in his first episodes!

I was about to ask the same thing. Warz wasn't a bad villain, certainly no where near the laziness of his father, but he was nothing more than a spoiled brat. I didn't hate him, but I didn't find him to be anywhere near a good villain. Basco was the best villain in Gokaiger. Gashu Skull, Jin, Rio, Mele, AbareKiller, Jeanne, Rijewel, Yugande, Zylpheeza, Dr Kempu, and Radiguet are great villains. Warz was just an average villain like those found in Go-On through Gosei.

I'm not a weeaboo so I don't automatically give something a free pass because an attractive Japanese woman is singing a quirky song.

I rate the characters I enjoy on their actual worth to the story, what they have achieved, how they have grown etc etc and so far Canderila has been a spare part that seems only to exist to grate my nerves, rather than provide the Kyoryuger with any threat or character growth. Much like most of the villains in this series.

And if this is supposed to be a comedy series...and she is supposed to be funny...I'm not laughing. A low production Japanese pop song isn't my idea of comedy, unless I am laughing at her for how terrible it is, which I can't do because the song is too busy make me feel nauseous.

Anyone who loves Candelila and Warz Gill is fine by me! :D

Not in the sense that he did things right and was exceptionally evil and a huge threat, but he was epic entertainment. I loved him in every episode, his tantrums amused me, him giving everyone a cold made me laugh and everyone I was watching nearly died when he fainted because his plan failed and was unconscious for the next episode. Entertainment is very important and Gokaiger already had its hardcore villains in Damarasu, Basco and Barizorg and then eventually Achidos Gill and his company (and I loved them for different reasons). Warz Gill was perfect for the role he had and I absolutely loved him.

Woah, calling people weaboos is a bit jerky and came out of nowhere, especially when I was joking about the no souls thing. Candelila is, just like Warz Gill, pure awesome entertainment value. She's fun, quirky and unique and her schemes are hilarious. Her interactions with all the other characters are funny and she's just a really fun character to have around. If you want hardcore villains see Dogold and Chaos, but she is perfect for her role.

And her song wasn't great because it was good, it was great because it was funny. Did you miss the lyrics? She was singing about destroying humanity in a happy-go-lucky way as fanboys squealed at her. That's funny! Did you hate Bandora too? She had a comedy song about destroying children which was equally awesome.

Sometimes a show doesn't need a group of boring, oh-so-evil, oh-so-intimidating, oh-so-competent villains, it needs some comedy and fun to bring to the ensemble. Warz Gill and Candelila and, hell, even Bandora some of the time, are perfect for this. I love them dearly. Kyoryuger, Gokaiger and Zyuranger are examples were these characters really work with the rest of the show, I can see how comedic ensemble villains couldn't work in Shinkenger, but that's why it didn't have them.

Well honestly that is the only reason why I assume people like Candelira, I really don't see the entertainment in a in your face quirky comedy character, whose only input into the show is an awful pop song. I've tried to understand peoples arguments but all I've seen is 'wow her voice actor is cute' cute voice actor = good character?

I guess if you find her funny, power to you, but I really don't find Kyoryuger's sense of humour funny in general, I find it juvenile at best. And Candelira is the embodiment of that, more a nuisance than a character. At least for me.

I guess that is why I shouldn't be watching this show, but I really enjoyed the opening few episodes which established the characters, I loved Cyan. I just hated it when the show descended into fart jokes and other such humour on that level. I love comedy but this isn't comedy, this is dribbling on the carpet.

I thought the fart jokes were stupid too, but I don't see anything really juvenile about the rest of the show. Sure, it knows its target audience, but it is still mature enough and entertaining to be enjoyed by all. I love my serious Sentai as much as anybody else, but having a show that's more about fun then edge is nice to have every couple of seasons, in my opinion.

I find nothing fun in establishing a villain over two episodes, only to defeat them with a gag.

I find nothing fun in a bunch of incompetent generals that have so far, minus Chaos, shown to be considerably weaker than the Kyoryuger despite them not even having their first power ups yet.

I see no fun in a series with zero drama or tension because it wants to be as big a gag as physically possible.

This is exactly the same problem I had with Power Rangers Ninja Storm.

Ninja Storm also had unlikeable characters, which Kyoryuger thankfully does not.

I understand why you don't like Kyoryuger for your reasons, but I think you're being a little harsh while doing it.

I think Candi's gimmick would be funnier if she didn't just play the same song.

But I can see where Locke is coming from. In the face of adversity, the Kyoryugers just smile and move forward. The villains (Sans Chaos) seem to be more like super powered MOTW rather than actual end game bosses, and Candi's design is too chunky.

Besides, Mele did the serious/comedic thing better.

Yeah, that is my point, I can't get invested in a show that has no conflict. The Kyoryuger are steam rolling their way through every episode and every moment they seem to lose footing, they pull out a random deus ex Beast Battery which saves the day with a stupid joke.

If your central generals have been shown to be defeated by your base form Sentai in the first ten episodes of your show, then you have problems. Whether it's a comedy show or not, it isn't interesting if there is no conflict.

Locke, I don't think Scream was serious when he said if you don't like Candi you ain't got a soul. First off. Secondly, you're allowed not to like what you don't like. But my love for Candi is deeper than a cute VO actress, and one quirky song. I love the song. If I could I'd have an alarm clock that only played that song when it woke me up. But I also love her because of the whole psychodelic cutesy nightmare of a character she is. Her and Luckiroo. Lucky I love because he reminds me of Vivi, and I am a true Vivi fanboy. But back to my original point. I love she tries to destroy everyone by making them happy (In the most odd way she can think of), I love her song, I love her nightmarish psychodelic 60's look thatw as probally helped along with the help of mushrooms, I love her giant axe heart thing. I love her completely.

And I know Starscream, Den-O, and a few other people do to.

This is great but wouldn't you like her more if she had actually...succeeded...in anything? None of her plans come to fruition, they always get blocked and stopped by outside forces. Man if she was this twisted nightmarish character who killed people with kindness then that'd be awesome but so far she has achieved nothing.

And it isn't just her either, all of the Generals are incompetent, on paper they are cool but they and their plans are always thwarted much too easily, which undermines any greatness the characters have.

The monsters of the week so far have actually achieved more than the Generals have.

This show is attempting to bring sentai back to the strong and powerful type. Go-Busters featured characters who often fought enemies far stronger and more tactically skilled than them. So the heroes always looked like they were going to lo lose. They're making the heroes look as good as they possibly can this season to get kids interested. They want the heroes to be ridiculously strong, fun, and brave. In order to do that they've dialed the villains back quite a bit. But I think Dogold has developed pretty nicely, easily the best of the Debos so far though I am partial to Canderela too.

Maybe, I will admit I'm more of a Power Rangers guy than a Sentai guy. But I know the generals in DekaRanger, Jetman and Shinkenger weren't this useless.

Maybe if I'd seen more Sentai, seen more Sentai where the generals were useless and incompetent then I could get behind this more but generals at this level of uselessness is totally new for me and it's frustrating for me as well.

Guess I need to go watch Go-Busters then!

I'll say that Go-Busters was slow for the first half but everything from episode 25 up is great. It's like they got all the filler out in the first half of the show. Yes, it had the lowest ratings for a sentai ever, but it's much much better than alot of people will try to tell you.

The problem is that, in any other Sentai, when a general character shows up, that should be the moment where you realize shit is about to go down. Not just a common occurrence to show off batteries we've never seen before.

Exactly! This is exactly the point I am trying to make. Even Jetman got the Generals out and active early in the shows run but they still managed to capture that sense of 'oh shit'. I roll my eyes when the generals appear in this show.
