The best way to celebrate Batman's anniversary is to have a monthly series written by different writers in the style of each era. Of course, for the 70s they can have Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil work on an issue or two. Have Marv Wolfman write the issues representing the 90s.

Just have it be in the same vein as those Retroactive comics they did a few years ago.

Or they just need to start putting out collections of everything from the 70s.

I liked DC a lot more before the New 52 started. For the moment, I still read Batman and Green Lantern.

I actually appreciate the New 52. It was great motivation for me to read comics again.

The only thing that keeps me from reading DC again is their fucked up continuity. They should just come out and finally say what counts, what doesnt and what happened when.

It sounds like you'll enjoy Earth 2, since all of its continuity is established in the series itself.

It reminds me too much of the state, style and content of comics in the 1990's when I stopped collecting (American) comics altogether after more than 20 plus years. While I haven't done that yet, I am getting pretty closes.

I could honestly drop reading comics entirely, but I'd still keep reading Earth 2 (and the Justice League books - but I'm a JL completist).

I gave up on Earth 2 after Volume 2. It was quite lackluster. In fact, the only New 52 comics I am still reading are Animal Man and Swamp Thing.

I know what you mean. The people that like the New 52 are welcome to have and enjoy it. There are still plenty of DC back issue that I don't have. :)

I really need to pick up Earth 2. I read the first issue and enjoyed it, but it was one of those titles I resigned to buying TPBs of because I couldn't afford it at the time.

I've decided to start collecting New 52 Batman Trades as ive heard its some of the best new 52 stuff. So its court of owls, city of owls and night of owls, that's the first story right? Then it's death in the family, then Joker death in the family or does Joker collect all of death in family? Also there are like twenty other bat books, how'd they relate?

They don't largely. Each one is its own thing, although IIRC the others had Court of Owls issues.

Not sure if they're included in TPB though.

So I can read court with no prior? And yeah night collects all the external batman books owls issues. What about the Joker stuff?

Here's a list of the books:

*Batman, Volume 1: The Court of Owls.
*Batman: Night of the Owls.
*Batman, Volume 2: The City of Owls. (It has all of the issues of Batman that Batman: Night of the Owls contains and Issue 12, but none of the tie-ins. It would be more frugal to buy Issue 12 separately.)
*Batman, Volume 3: Death of the Family.
*The Joker: Death of the Family. (This one has all of the tie-ins from the other books. Pinpointing the exact timeline of everything is a bit difficult, but you should be finished reading this before Issue 10.)

Death of the Family was a horrible story, it didn't make sense how the Joker could do all that with tie-ins and nothing happens.
