If only Megaforce had been tightened
RoboKnight appearing raises interesting questions about his Ranger Key and makes one wonder if anymore footage from the 199 Special will be used. Frankly, it is sad. Saban used to invest in story-telling and the episodes, while occasionally ultra-childish (which can be partially excused given the target audience), still had a plot, with a threat, with action, and an occasional moral to it. In Megaforce, we have a dim-witted science teacher and an Ernie knock-off who barely appear. In fact, they are about the only thing the rangers have with regard to social lives away from the battlefield. Also, the naming factor is off. How do you call Gokaioh the "Legendary Megazord"? Is it like with "Grand Gosei Great Megazord", "Ground Gosei Great", and "Gosei Great Grand Megazord"? Personally, I would have adapted Gokaioh into the "Mobile-Max Megazord", but that is just me. The amount of new footage is depends on whether they will replace sentai-only teams and how much Megaforce/Goseiger suit action we see before the go "Super". And with regards to Vrak, he will be used likely in new scenes and the "Brajira" form may ONLY get used if they can find a suitable runaround to the angel theme. I had my own ideas on that one, but with Megaforce regular done, oh well. We can only hope that the lackluster handling of Megaforce is because they are pooling all of their resources (if you want to call it that) into "Super", making the first half just a stepping stone; a scene-setter.

i'm just curious how they are going to explain how the keys work. since the legendary war is the last episode the past rangers don't have to give up their powers at the start. so what, do they just "tap into the legendary rangers fighting spirit" or something?
|
Well, they do have past Rangers (Jason Smith and Alex Heartman we know for sure) doing cameos in episodes, and we've seen pictures of the Lost Galaxy Suit and the Black Wild Force, suit so the keys will be used before the finale.
How and why, we have to wait for |

You guys say all this like you expect Super Megaforce to have a plot. I mean I'm real proud of you, that after Megaforce, you still expect super to have a plot, you're better men than me. But yeah, don't expect anything to make sense.

Also I do hope they explain the morphing grid thing and not just pass it off. The morphing grid shutdown last time there were 11 past rangers (once a ranger). I would like them to explain how 50+ rangers at once are possible. |

I'm with Locke. In their worst season, in an unwatchable team, they did an anniversary team-up so beautifully that it proved they could be good even when being godaweful. Once a Ranger. That's all the proof you need that Disney should be running the anniversary.
|
They also apparently wanted the franchise dead by RPM, so go figure.
It's less you guys want Disney running the show, you just want the people Disney let run the show back on it. |

Saw it on RangerCrew first, but:

Andrew confirms 42 episodes total over both seasons. Look like we're not getting specials in Super Megaforce.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njP1al0t_oU This was from Worldscreen's site in regards to Megaforce's episode order: http://i39.tinypic.com/11t0j61.png And this is for Super Megaforce, also from Worldscreen: http://i40.tinypic.com/2jdq16q.png |
I came up with this theory a whole year ago, does it still stand up? LOL!
original post I was expecting this. Megaforce is only 20 episodes in season one, which will be all Goseiger footage. Goseiger had 50 episodes in Japan. I heard Nickelodeon only allows 20 episodes per season, a reason why Saban created the Vortex block to get back to the norm of 40-50 episode seasons. This has nothing to do with the costumes, it's all about telling a decent story within the span of only 20 episodes. The transition from Dino to Ninja in MMPR was over the span of 2 years and 100 episodes. Kids have no problem with suit changes seeing we have been doing it for the past 17 years since Zeo. Not to mention that we are 2 series behind and Gokaiger alone isn't enough to sale on it's own. Gokaiger is based on a 35 anniversary of Super Sentai, Power Rangers is only HALF that, and as you can see, they are only using half of the show. If you look at the Gokaiger toy line, it's not very big at all, it's all macha based and that's all we are using. I always doubt we were getting the Ranger Keys, if you look at BOA record of collectibles within any given season: Dinothunder's Dino Plates, NinjaStorm's Power Disks, RPM's Engine Cells, Samurai's Power Disk. We don't even have a full set of any of those in America. We have a little over 100 Power Rangers, I honestly doubt we would get a full set of Ranger Keys if Japan had a hard enough time, taking 2 years to put out about 200 keys. Bandai is pushing this card game hard, if Megaforce will be incorporating a "Gokai Change", putting them out in card form is much easier, not to mention we have 2 years of Megaforce to do it in. Think of the average place in a story line in about episode 20 while watching Super Sentai or a regular series of Power Rangers. We are usually getting the 6th Ranger by then or around episode 13 or so. If everything is always drastically changing every 5-10 episodes; new villains, new Ranger, New Zords etc... So it's not even about having an explanation it's about having enough time to tell a good story and sale toys. I mean what's the point of introducing something new only to see it for 2 episodes and have something new again tossed in your face 5 episodes later? Then there is no room for character development because they're spending all the time explaining where all these new powers are coming from. Saban is finally aiming this show at us as well as kids, I want the best show possible regardless of what costume is being worn. In addition, if you look at MMPR line up and the Megaforce line up. Goseiger reflect MMPR better than the Gokaiger team. Same colors, similar weapons and animals. For their 20th Anniversary, I too would pick a team that reflects the original to better resonate with the casual viewer (not Super Fans). It was mentioned that Saban may be using Gokai Silver so there may be a chance we could see the Gokaiger team in a similar way we used the Alien Rangers (Kakuranger). |
There will be special Super Megaforce Events in Orlando Nick Hotel held February 2014 and October 2014.
This is NOT confirmed: Looking like Super Megaforce premieres on the 15th. On Nick Hotel's blog Megaforce event was posted 5 months ago just the 14-17th. The 21-23 dates were added about two weeks ago when I found the press release. |
i wish nick would air promos like sentai does even before the season ends, that way when sm merch comes out, kids are aware of it, they can buy it and attract more viewers, plus they should put in the next episode promos as well, it would sell more toys like they did in mmpr.
sentai is always clever at trying to sell merch and attracting viewers by promoting the heck out of it. |
I always see toy commercials for Power Rangers when I'm flipping through the TV channels on CN, Disney XD, Hubb and sometimes Nick. I think kids know that the toys are out. Not to mention kids have better Internet access then we did back in the 90's and early 2000's. Kids have Iphones and laptops that they can go on the Wikipedia and find out when the next episodes are coming out. When most of us were kids, we didn't have the Internet now to look up information on the current shows.

i dont why but them using the gokaiger suits as powerups, that seems to bother me for some reason, i mean when i first heard about it i was excited about it but for some reason it bothers me, i dont know maybe it's takes too screentime for the morphing, i dont know why it's bothering me all of a sudden.
has anyone have that feeling? i should buy some toys to ease the pain, call me crazy. |
Cool
|
My problem with them using the Gokaiger suits as a power up is that it feels like they're wasted. The Gokaiger suits are some of the best suits in the whole of super sentai... and they are used in a series centred around our heroes morphing into other suits.
Then Megaforce makes them even more arbitrary, by making them a stop gap for a probably prerecorded transformation sequence. |
I'm just hoping for a good Power Rangers anniversary

How is SMF justifying that these American high school kids are decked out in pirate-themed gear? From where I sit, it looks like they're not even trying. Which is a huge waste to me, as a Power Rangers: Pirate Force series seems like such a cool story opportunity... |
I just hope we get a pirate themed sentai where they actually get to wear their base suits through the whole thing, at least until the mid season powerup.
|
while reading all post through all 11 pages it came to mind that people are forggetting about the morphin grid the only thing that has every ranger power in it so the keys are getting there source from the previous range like in gokaiger they are linked to thoes powers VIA the Morphn Grid.
|
I think they're going to phase out the Goseiger suits pretty quickly. They showed them using it as a power up, but also proper morphing stock footage. Maybe they only go from goseiger to gokaiger suits the first time?

I am excited after seeing the trailer, and yet at the same time prepared to be severely disappointed.
|
That trailer got my attention by simply having a minimal amount of Gokaiger footage :lol
Sure it wasn't particularly INTERESTING new footage until the end, but still! |

The final part of the trailer showed footage from the final episode of Super Megaforce, and featured the Rangers in their Goseiger suits, so I doubt we'll see the Goseiger suits phased out. As I've stated previously, I fully believe that the Goseiger suits will begin to take a more prominent role towards the end of the season, using Vrak footage from Goseiger and making him the "big bad" for the entire 2 season run.
|
The new footage has me really pumped for this now.
|
Oooooohhh Yesssss..... That was awesome! I cant wait :D
|
Looking at the Power Rangers that we see in the final clip of the trailer ... they're all the same Rangers from the clips of Gokaiger Ep 01 that don't have Sentai-only teams in the shot.
Exception is Mighty Morphin, as they only have the Green Ranger shown, but that footage is 100% usable. But RPM? In Gokaiger Ep 01. Same for Wild Force, Ninja Storm, Alien Rangers, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, etc. The only exception is Turbo and Zeo, who have shots combined with Sentai-only Rangers. |

So for all their "Completely new Legend War" hubbub they made, Saban just used the Rangers that footage they could copy paste from Gokaiger show up. That's really pathetic, even for Saban. As for the trailer, it was about what I was expecting. The transformation sequence looks pretty crappy though. The frontal shots are not good. I think they may have missed the significance of the "XXXV" making the Gokaiger's suits in the transformation though, considering it looks like the Super Megaforce's is made from "XXX" rather then "XX". |
