Because Gia is a girl and girls are gross and they're only on the show to keep people from complaining that they aren't. They get one episode and then they go stand in the corner until someone needs a sandwich.

Just watched it, and it was great. Can't wait till episode two.

Ok, got a better question than Jake: why did Emma's GekiRed have a skirt? Know it was more a GekiYellow turned red, but thought they kept the true form or that Ranger? Thought there was no gender-switching?

Well, guess this will fuel the Trini/Boi figure debate. Thanks Saban & Bandai.

Because in the Gokaiger footage, they altered the costumes to match a female ranger's usual design, a skirted suit. And same for if say Joe or Doc changed into a costume that belonged to a girl. The skirt would be removed.

Didn't you notice how Mystic Yellow suddenly had a skirt and blue didn't?

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say in earlier post. Geki Red looked like Geki Yellow. Ah, well.

And the Jake is now Blue issue I think speaks to Ziggys notice of the morphing explosions. I think the writers were giving us a nod.

This was actually a very very well done episode. I totally enjoyed it and they did a lot of things right and it felt more like Power Rangers. I loved Megaforce and this was just a whole lot better. The only problem was the Super Mega everything, but that's just bad naming conventions.

Right. Finally managed to find a way to watch it.

I have to say that while this doesn't give me the goosebumps that say the two-part opener of lost galaxy did (in all it's starship troopers glory), it was pretty damn good. The acting while pretty bad it wasn't nearly as awkward as I find the acting in mmpr season one.

All in all I think people are nitpicking, because frankly that wasn't a bad adaption.. naming conventions aside. And while the pirate theme is glossed over, its not hard to see its there. So to me it's less ignoring it and more while yes we don't want to draw real life allusions to Somalia its so overt we really shouldn't make a big deal out of it.

I think you have to watch it in the mindset of a kid. And in that sense, this episode was a complete success. Full of plenty of different looking rangers, fun action scene throughout the ENTIRE episode. If as many boys watch it as Saban Brands thinks then I'd say they're on to a winner.

A thought about missing tributes: We're talking about adapting a show which has a decade more stuff that power rangers. If any episode has a big pre-zyu influence in it, then they're just as likely to skip it altogether than they are to overlay a different ranger onto the footage. We're talking about a show that gives little time, money or effort to get a series airing. Why spend more money... If my memory of Gokaiger serves they are pretty liberal with they pre-zyu henshins...

Damn, I love Gokaiger. I think the action in that first episode might be among the best Sentai action sequences ever filmed. So it was nice seeing it again.

But I won't be watching this. Power Rangers remains a franchise whose stewardship I question at every turn.

No, the Ranger Key powers conform to the user. Girls get girl suits and boys get boy suits regardless of the original. You will not see Blue in a skirt and you won't see Yellow without a skirt (save for the teams that have no skirts). It happens at least 5 times in this episode (not counting the intro).

See, I was originally going to buy SHF MMPR Yellow in addition to Tiger Ranger, and then I remembered the skirt thing, so since that little detail would bother me about a representation of Luka/Gia, I'll just stick with Tiger.

I didn't mind this episode,it just was exactly what I expected.

The suit actors,not the actors themselves,just don't match up.Going from a strong style black ranger to a goofy green ranger doesn't fit,and going from a never give up red ranger who struggled in the beginning to a nonchalant,cocky red ranger doesn't fit either.

It's not really the actors faults,its the footage.If these were two seperate series,it would work perfectly.

I could seriously start a drinking game with how many times they mentioned how "These new powers rock!".Ok,we get it.We can all see that they're really cool.

I do appreciate the fact they called the sword attack Final Slash,even had the same harmony almost as "Final Wave!"

Other then that,it only had the same problems I've always had with recent ranger series.The talking during the fighting and the sound effects.

If they just cut back on the talking,and actually made the sound effects actually sound like the objects instead of just lasers all the time,I'd be fine with it.

I think you'll find that all helmets stay the same, even when they gender swap. Any apparent difference is just an illusion from the different body types wearing it.

That was my theory, but I'm pretty sure Fury Diamond or someone else debunked that, and that "Argus" will just be some random dude.

I still find that lame. This idea would have made the show a little better.

My only complaint was that they talked a lot during fights which was my complaint with the first half so it's no big deal.

I loved how they were about to explain Jake's color change, that had me laughing. :lol

So i guess that Gokai silver's coming in next episode, can't wait for that.

"Super Mega Job rangers" line yes, all the yes if they've got this series to make the red ranger as corny and or cocky as much as they want might as well use it. Also loved the actual call used for Mystic Force, was a bit sad at no SPD Emergency call but I imagine it was cut for time. Also the "having an identity crisis" line made me chuckle.

Also I think Gosei might have forgotten about the whole Power Rangers in Space invasion of Earth. Overall loved the episode it was a damn good episode even if they might have gone a little overboard on the new powers rock lines.

Not bad but for the 20th its still realy disapointing. I am glad they used the morph cahnge calls for the changes. I did LOVE the destroyed mall shot and blue looking through the school with the place blown to S$%*t. Am I the only one who wants to know what happened to robo knight? Also that last shot on the beach was Godly.

I'd say that it was passed my expectations for a first episode, unlike Megaforce did. I was absolutely stunning, great visuals, liked the morph change, and who wouldn't love the Legendary Changes from the past seasons of Power Rangers! I was actually surprised by that!

My overall grade for this first episode was: A-

It was a great episode, but had some flaws. One of them was the fact that they didn't explain why they haven't used the Ranger Keys and left them on the wall till now, and how they went from those uniforms to Pirate uniforms... yeah. Just my thoughts on the first episode. I'm actually excited after seeing the first episode of this one since it wasn't mediocre, just like Megaforce was, Just like Operation Overdrive and Samurai, since they definitely didn't live up to their Sentai counterparts: Boukenger and Shinkenger.

Ah...those were two very great sentai series.

Just watched the episode and I must say I'm impressed. It wasn't all that bad. I think if I hadn't seen Gokaiger then it would be better, since I wouldn't be seeing the Sentai characters in my mind. Looking forward to seeing where they take us.

My 2 major nitpicks are the "Super Mega" everything and the incessant talking. I hope "Super Mega" eventually isn't every other word, because it started to get annoying. The talking, jeez, they need to just let some of the action happen. You know it's bad when the usual "Yes Boss" Bariziorg goes to being a regular chatty Kathy. He had multiple lines every time he appeared on screen.

Sadly, I highly doubt his wish for all pink will come to pass, since it only happened once, and used FivePink and Pink Flash. Unless they were willing to put in the effort to make male versions of pinks that were in Power Rangers, but I don't trust the production team to put in that much effort.

My thoughts exactly. I thought to my self "They are talking way too much during these fights." I don't remember other seasons doing that as much (Then again the only one I watched in recent years was Dino Thunder). I like the concept of their suits being linked to the statues in the base, and that's how they get the keys. It's a neat concept. I feel that there was too much fighting and not enough character interaction. We got like, 3 minutes of that, and the pacing was WAAAAAY too fast.I feel like if it were a two parter it would've immensely helped the pacing. It's really interesting, as this is the first PR season I've watched after the Sentai, so seeing Barizorg's (or whatever his name is PRSM is) actions not entirely match up with his dialogue was a bit jarring. The morph sequence looks cheaper to me than Gokaiger's as well. Though, they did use their individual zords separately, which I don't ever remember them doing in Gokaiger, so props to them for doing that. I did like the joke of "Am I the only one who notices my key is the wrong color?" "Jake, there's a simple explanation for that-" I really liked Gosei's straightforward, serious delivery of that line. :lol Also, why does Insarn talk like the Mandarin from Iron Man 3? (They'lllll neveerrrrr expect cherry blossoommmss.)

I begrudge no one who enjoyed this show but I had to express my opinion just as anyone who liked it can express theirs.

I will say the "why green instead of black" moment was pretty funny. A great way to explain things is to never talk about them after all. Anyways, I welcome the hate I am about to receive for my opinion of this episode :lol

Are you kidding me? The Rangers have PIRATE-THEMED OUTFITS, WEAPONS AND ZORDS! They can't just ignore the pirate motif! Well, they can, but it comes across as stupid. It's as if they had tried to ignore the Samurai theme with PRS :thumbdown

Crappy comparison. The shapes in the Zeo Rangers' visors were just a minor aesthetic choice not related to any motif, the pirate theme is pretty much a motif ingrained in everything about Gokaiger/Super MegaForce.
