Well, gabu is the sound of biting... I'm not certain about the others, but I'd say you're right about the pantmanteau thing.

Zyudenryu is just a term that means Electric Lizard. Just like Bakuryu from Abaranger means bursting lizard. The Overtime translation that makes it Voltasaur is something they came up with. They interpreted it that way, but it's not a necessarily appropriate translation of that term.

Their individual names are as matrixbeast said, portmanteaus of other words. Gabutyra (biting tyrannosaurus), Parasagun (parasaur gun), Dricera (drill Triceratops), and so on and so on.

Take the risk, and get some good actors. Kyoryuger had good actors

Also, I hope that they have decent humor. Aigallon and Dogold were funny because they personified sorrow and anger. It came off as silly because you just couldn't take them seriously.

The Prisms are most likely the Bragigas Tears from what I understand. Because Dinochaser somehow survived.

Somehow, a trio who try to get one up on the rangers out of inferiority and desperation to beat 'the cool crowd' sounds like a damn solid original plot.

They can try to expose the rangers identities to the world just so that they can get rich and get out of school. No education and all.

Just as they succeeded when the villains took advantage of them as help and allowing them to capture the rangers, one of the bullies (who is like Edd "Double D") feels guilty and decides to free them on his own.

My hell frozen over wishes:

An original plot using the footage that isn't a soulless copy of MMPR you know like INS,LG and RPM.

New footage to make female Cyan or Violet a main cast member.

Red and Pink romance that actually carries through-out the season and has a satisfying conclusion.

The Rangers to be likable characters with decent acting.

If the Rangers must be teens then for all that's holy hire actual teens to play them.

Hire actual teens? That's a hell frozen over twice with a layer of permafrost piled on top cover with sprinkles... of doom. I don't think I've seen a single TOTALLY age appropriate cast in a teen drama. There's always some flipping twenty-something they let in -eyeroll-

I'm with you, especially if they pulled a LG on the footage and wrote something fresh for the out of suit scene with lovely hints of tribute here and there and a splattering of sentai plot line.

Buuuuut...

I think Disney and the new Lyoko show did/do could be wrong.It's just painful for me to see obvious 30 year olds play teenagers half their age I mean it'd be different if Saban hired good actors but he uses terrible actors I'd rather have terrible actors that are at-least closer to their characters' ages.

This show doesn't have to be spectacular, it just has to be competent. I really hope they do something real good with it. The Kyoryuger footage is a goldmine of material to use.

At-least Justin can naturally act like a kid.

The worst was SPD. They were clearly all grown adults, and the show treated them as such. But there were at least three episodes where characters would reference them as teens in a completely unironic fashion. And I was just like DEEERP.

He's done well by Saban's bottom line so far in the Neo-Saban period. Absolutely no reason to get rid of him.

The most likely option is that Tzachor is doing his job as executive producer as always. Ie, he is the guy making the money decisions NOT writing necessarily (though plenty of execs like to meddle in that too.) The simple reason why what we know sounds so un-Tzachor? They might have got a new head writer on staff for this one whos a far bigger personality than Jonnie T and has run rings around him.

Ooooor, you know, we could give the guy credit and say this is his turning point, or exception to his sentai obsession, or him saying "I don't need to meddle with this, it's dinosaurs, whatever you write will be fine because it'll sell regardless."

I don't think Tzachor is incapable of original seasons. He was in charge during In Space, for example. And even when Time Force was slavish to Timeranger, it was still competently written and acted.

Although during the In Space era weren't people like Judd Lynn involved too? The team professionals surround themselves with can have a huge difference on the final product. For example, Steven Moffat with Russel T Davies as showrunner produced some bloody amazing episodes of DW... when the moff is in charge however...

I don't believe for a second that Tzachor is useless. I don't buy in to that at all considering he got the job at the end of the day. I just think he could do with some fresh ideas, or perhaps even re-gaining the experience on how to create a decent season of PR. Hasn't done this precise job for a while after all right?

I can easily see Dino Charge going in either direction. While the bounty hunter stuff doesn't sound vary Kyoryuger and the prisms are given way more importance than the amber tears ever were, it could still be slavish to the source material...

Whether in a LG/TF way, or a Samurai way remains to be seen.

Perhaps young adults will take over this ranger team 4 a while.

Aside from people who enjoyed Go-Busters, there's no one in the American target audience who'd pick them over a season full of dinosaurs. You can't pretend toy sales don't matter here. Go-Busters bombed painfully. Kyoryuger is raking in the best profit in 10 years or something, or so I heard.
