Holy fuck! Are they full on life on marsing this?

If you haven't seen Life On Mars, Sam Tyler is in a coma for the whole series - or is he? (with later seasons it gets really confusing) - but when the show was still cohesive aspects of him being in a coma seeped into his coma dreamworld.
Now the Toqgers are told they are 'as good as dead' and the last thing they remember is falling out of a tree as children so this one second shot of a kids tshirt may very well be the entire explanation from the show. They are kids, in comas, in a children's ward. With that in mind the shows tendency to have a very childlike feel during very dark situations and its tendency to break the fourth wall plus the theme of IMAGINATION all really makes sense for one disturbing package. PRETTY FUCKING MESSED UP YO. |

Remember how Right just wakes up on the train? Like how Sam wakes up in his car? Is it possible that Right is the only one alive? Gene Hunt and the gang weren't real, just Sam. This gets more fucked up by the second.

If they went the first season route, each member of the team could be aspects of Right himself. Like a conscience, which would make sense as Mio is the voice of reason, Hikari is the realist etc They could easily be fragments of the same person, especially if they are suffering a psychotic break/physical trauma. |

If this show goes Ashes to Ashes route, I'll be sad. If it goes Life on Mars route, I'll be happy.
|
What if it goes Doctor Who (post-2005) series 5?
I'm sort of wondering if maybe they'll go the route of having them all die (in some great self-sacrifice) and then have everyone imagine them back into existence or something in gratitude. That way we get our emotions tugged, but still finish up with a happy ending. Then again I've been wrong at pretty much every plot turn I've tried to predict so clearly I have not been able to get into the mind of a Toku series writer yet. |
I'm still holding out for it to go full on Life on Mars.

You've also reminded me how annoyed I am at BBC America for never bringing over AtA series 3. Which is fine because the show was also never released on dvd or streaming here. |

So, the Shadow Line’s goal is pretty much an exact copy of the Deboss Legion’s. But, compared to the Deboss Legion the way the Shadow Line handles things feels like it’s on a much grander scale and efficient compared to the Deboss. I’ll say it again: the villains continue to remain the most interesting thing about Tokkyuger. I love the designs, and the fact that we could be getting an evil ranger team again is pretty exciting. I’m still having trouble remembering who the Tokkyugers are by name and Tokkyu5’s “I think I can” act is already starting to get old/irritating.
I had a better time with this episode then I did episode 1 that’s for sure. |
I dunno I find the motivations of the villains the weakest aspect, I get that it's train themed but the characters aren't ignorant to other forms of transportation so it seems really odd the villains would pick a form of transportation that is the most limiting, I think the only thing worse would be if they had Shadow Dodgems.
Although I'm not really even sure how it all works anyway, they need to create more track, by converting emotions, by creation stop stations? How'd they take over towns in the first place? And can't they just magic track out of the air? The Deboss Legion weren't very good, but their goal of 'revive our leader' was simple enough to work as a general excuse for what they were doing. |
I was hoping a Wolverine shinkansen fastball was homaged but still a good ep.

They kidnap children or make adults despair by doing horrible things to them. This concentration of dark emotions in turn allows them to take control of areas and stabilize them as new stations on the Shadow Line. In much the same way that the normal everyday world of human emotions sustains the Rainbow Line. |

Oh man when you put it in perspective, that is so messed up, everything about this show is fucked up. |
Enjoyed this episode quite a lot too. I must say, Wagon's a nigh bit creepy. Especially having sculpted and painted lips on her visor-thing.
Oh and the MOTW was pretty dark this week. His modus operandi was almost Hunger Games-like and it was a bit shocking. |
Not much really to say that hasn't already been said. Great episode and I'm still loving the hell out of this show.
|
Can I claim Madame Noire this year like Sentai did for Candelira?
I love her design. She may very well be my favorite Sentai villain design of all time. |

Mio is pretty cool though ( I'm pretty sure that's her name. It's only been 2 episodes so I'm not 100% sure yet ) it's starting to look like it's between her and blue as my favorite team member thus far. |
I got dibs on General Schwarz! Easily the most badass/metal/evil villain design I think I've ever seen.

Still enjoying this show so far. I really want to know more about the villains in this show. Also maybe I'm just being overly hopeful (or exercising my imagination) but what if the tree they were playing at was in Zawame City and that's where they're from and that's how it will tie into the Gaim crossover?
