Is this episode watchable outside the US yet? 'Cause I really need to watch it out of morbid curiosity to see if my irritation (at the huge behind-the-scenes "is that necessarily the best way you professionals could have done that?" issues the show is having) matches up to the standard of the episode. I actually enjoyed the first episode you see despite the VA babble, so maybe the second'll pass the test too? |
My biggest issue is his claim that this is the most expensive season yet.

I get that PR ≠ Sentai, but looking at it from the perspective of my 5 year old nephew, Saban fails. I watched Gokaiger with him during the summer last year and he sat through every single episode. He hasn't been able to make it through either of the first two episodes of Super Megaforce. It boggles my mind that he is captivated by a show where he doesn't understand what the characters are doing, yet the native version can't hold him through the first commercial break. I have to agree with him.
As for the episode, it was alright. Its already been said, but there was a lot of lazy in the episodes. They are just given all the zords at the start? They knew of RPM and SPD, but called the Delta Runner "car zord"? A throw away line explains the Dairanger suits? I think my biggest problem was that this was the SPD tribute episode, my favorite season, and we didn't get anything along those lines. Where was Doggie? You can throw anyone in the suit and get John Tui to do the lines. I agree that Saban messed up saying the season was a tribute. It feels more like just another season. |

they cant skip it because it's all about selling the toys, if they skip the delta runner episode, then the delta runner will not sell, it's the same with dairanger suits it's bandai's idea and saban kept the footage to sell those keys. like or hate it, it's not going to matter it's about selling the toys. that's the way it is. |

Well seeing as how the target audience is tuning out then, with a bit of luck, viewing figures for SMF will filter through to someone who matters (increasingly I'm convinced thats the Nick and BoA execs, rather than Haim or JT) and Dino Charge might have a little more effort put into it.
One can hope. Honestly? Everything up until the Gokaiger footage happens is absolutely fine in my opinion. Which furthers my opinion that you can't shoe horn in different monsters/powers/suits/zords and expect the season to work. Barely worked in the mid 90s, so why would it now? |

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4Mgs8milzG...keys_28229.jpg http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2013...-theories.html bandai didnt confirm if the dairangers are coming here or not, but that picture suggests it's a possiblity not a confirmation, but there's no confirmation that isnt coming either. bandai also didnt confirm what keys are coming here either, so dairangers are a possibility. |

That key was only on display at SDCC and hasn't been seen since. And quite a few keys have been on display simply for that purpose. They were one off for display purposes. Bandai has confirmed via solicitation info or actually already released packs these numbers. -14 3-key multipacks split btwen wave 1 & 2 ) = 42 -counting keys included with other toys (that aren't dupes of previously released characters in new colors like the red key included with the megazord) makes 4 more uniques. -they have confirmed that no blind packs will exist So you tell me why they'd waste a slot releasing keys of a non-existent team of rangers when they claim to only be making 60 keys total, and projected computer listings make the grand total appear to be 69 or so at a maximum. Why on Earth would they make these? Saying that Bandai made Saban use the footage because of toys is really really reaching. |
So the ShishiRanger Key was just a big cocktease then?
|
So they wasted time on the Dairanger footage, used a particularly awful fight scene without explanation and they didn't even do it to line their pockets? It's like with every bit of news I hate this show more.
|
Are we just going to ignore the sheer amount of American Ranger footage in this episode just because they used footage involving the Dairanger suits?
Jiminy friggin' Cricket, guys. :lol |
We must find the building these Dairangers keys are stored in and sell them on ebay!

I don't expect Saban to put in a lot of effort. My standards for them are quite low. That's why the effort that was put into this episode is enough for me to vote "Excellent." |

If people continue to have low standards and except a substandard show like this one, then that's all they'll ever get.

Troy wouldn't have a boner for RoboKnight. Jake wouldn't have willingly dressed up as a giant frozen yoghurt. They'd know nothing about the database... the list goes on. In fact all you'd get is out of context fight scene footage from Gokaiger. Exactly like we said. Of course, I can tell you meant to say "American fight footage". And yes in that sense ditching that lot would make little difference. In fact, I would rather they filmed more Gokaiger and ditched the Gosei suits to get as far away from a repeat of the Zyu2 fiasco as possible, but I understand the bigger problems associated with even that approach. As always, it's cheaper, seems to be the phrase to use here. But that still rings untrue for me some how... |

Those shots of the individual teams is a direct correlation with the script of the final episode:
"One by one, Rangers appear ... then teams of Rangers ... then the entire cliff is full of past Rangers" |
Japan = Fan shows for fans
US = Toy shows for kids Watched it. It's it's own show, and not Goseiger or GoKaiger. It's a horrible mish mash of crap, with a bunch of adverbs plied on ads. I really don't know what we're supposed to be expecting. Is Haim Saban's power of MMPR so strong that we expected this to be Oscar winning when the adult fans are told stuff at a toy convention? Repeat that. Toy. Convention. It's not an excuse. We're not the valid market. The kids who think this is cool are. We don't have an option to exert control over sub-par because we are still watching it, and creating a demographic in the Nielsens. I can really see Den-O's valid points. But I'm not going to feel fan rage over this. It's a bastardized version of two shows being slammed together. Call it being "Loudermilked". Whatever. I'm gonna go watch some Sentai, read some Sentai posts (:D ) and be cool. When someone has a valid way to not accept this, I'm all in for that. Seems like that would be not to watch or buy the toys. But we're the 2% of that equation in the wallet. Quote:

Weird comment maybe but...did they all get colds before recording? Everyone sounded bunged up and throaty in that clip.
|
Wait a minute, Burly looked at the SPD team, Id have almost thought he wouldve asked, 'Are those Power Rangers?' :lol
