I'm with Battlizer and Starscream Gaga on this one hundred percent, the arguments on the other side of the fence baffle me, especially that sentai one!

I'm pretty vocal on how much of a Power Rangers fanboy I am, and how much I don't care for sentai and how happy I am that I'm not another sheep who drifted from Power Rangers to sentai like I'd just got my final Rider Form Upgrade.

So no, Megaforce isn't shit because of Goseiger - although yes Goseiger is a show I like - Megaforce is shit because it fails at the most basic aspects of being a show. It has no plot, no characters, no conflict, it's just dubbed over Goseiger footage and then maybe they'll get a smoothie during the credits. They just directly lifted the Goseiger plot out line, but left out all the detail, so every episode was literally a string of bullet ponts. That is so far removed from what a TV show should be, I'm not sure it event counts as a show any more.

And as much as Power Rangers got ragged on the in the past - apparently now the in thing is defend shitty Power Rangers because it makes you a "true fan"? HILARIOUS! Loved seeing you there for when Power Rangers was getting ripped to shit for about a decade despite actually being good then - but in the past even bad shows had stories, characters, original ideas, they made footage to suit their additions. They at least functioned on the basic level of tv shows.

Megaforce is just pure garbage, the very worst of all of Power Rangers. I dunno how people can still call OO the worst, when it was full of original footage, original characters and so on. Megaforce was just a pile of nothing.

I had hoped Saban would stop with the whole "second Sentai/second half of a Sentai season" to have the word "Super" included. I had hoped that they would just stick to the 40-episode per season idea like they had done before Power Rangers was bought out by Disney. I had hoped that Saban would LEARN from his mistakes, so that I could like Power Rangers again under the original creator's control. I had hoped that with Dino Charge, I could continue to enjoy being a Power Rangers fan.

So much for hoping Dino Charge would be the game-changer. If it's ANYTHING like Samurai and Megaforce, chances are they're going to reuse the damn "Go Go Power Rangers" theme yet again, and make it a watered-down version of Kyoryuger.

Is there any franchise that I enjoyed that ends up sucking? I left Transformers for Power Rangers, and now it feels like I'm going to leave Power Rangers, too. There's no other franchise I can fall back on to like, because chances are, that franchise will probably end up sucking too.

Gokaiger is a anniversary for super sentai and not power rangers. So it makes no difference if people have seen Gokaiger or not.

If it fails to celebrate the franchise properly its not because people have seen Gokaiger its because its a shitty show.

Yeah, I don't understand why people keep insisting the hate for Super Megaforce is because of Gokaiger. Super Megaforce has its detractors because it is a terrible show produced with the bare minimum of effort from everyone involved.

Exactly. No one cares if it's Gokaiger or not. If they want to watch Gokaiger, they won't suffer through this train wreck. They'll just go watch Gokaiger.

People are complaining and voicing distaste because this is possibly one of the most poorly edited, scripted, produced, and advertised Power Rangers seasons ever. It is an insult to fans that were promised an awesome anniversary, and an insult to children who are assumed to be unintelligent enough to not see the glaring issues in this show.

And Super Megaforce being more like Gokaiger would hurt the show even more since it wouldnt be celebrating its own franchise anymore :lol

Exactly. Nick forces their shows to separate seasons like that, but I think Saban does the name change on his own. I might be wrong about that. My question is why buy a whole block of programming (Vortexx) if you're not going to use it to air your flagship money-making behemoth.

I don't see what the big deal about a slight name change is. Sure the names aren't the most original things, but it marketing it as two separate seasons allows much more hype and promotion than simply going "yeah, its the rest of those episodes we haven't aired yet".

Making the best of a bad situation is exactly why Power Rangers perpetually declines in quality. There's no real attempt to do anything that's original and actually inspired. People just keep accepting that this is just the way it is with Power Rangers because "insert excuse of the week". And in doing so each year Saban and Nick are getting by with doing a little bit less here and there.

It's funny that Megaforce is so bad, we've even started looking on Samurai of all things favourably in comparison.

I already explained the point of a name change. Regardless of what you think of Power Rangers in its current state, its going to be exactly the same content-wise whether its "Dino Charge" for 40 episodes or "Dino Supercharge" for the latter 20. It's a dumb adjective yes, but promotionally it makes perfect sense.

I'd love to see Power Rangers moved elsewhere and handled better, but is it going to happen while a contract with Nick is in place? No, probably not. So yes I'm making the best of a bad situation, but how is that any different than regurgitating an argument for the third year running when we all saw this coming.

Look I'm not saying you can't enjoy it. I'm glad there are people who are. I don't want anyone to ever think that I think they shouldn't enjoy something simply because I don't. I hate it when people do that to me (Goseiger, Go-Buster, etc) and would not like to do that to others. I just feel and know this franchise could do better. It should be better.

gokaiger has set everyone expectation for an anniversary series, the entire complaint i've seen against super megaforce is it is not like gokaiger

Where has anyone said that they hated Super Megaforce because it isn't Gokaiger? I've seen people criticize the writing, the acting, the unexplained pirate theme, and the mismatch of character personalities brought on by shoehorning two series together but I have not seen one person say they disliked it because it "wasn't Gokaiger".

Then you haven't been looking very hard. The complaints stem from it being poorly plotted & edited, the acting and ADR voice work having not improved over last season, and the extremely passive or non-existent explanations for things. It being a lackluster anniversary for Power Rangers that doesn't make real tributes to previous shows at all is a sticking point for why people are unhappy. It was billed as the huge anniversary "for the fans" by Saban, and has so far failed to accomplish to do so in even the broadest sense.

I doubt they will skip ToQger given the show seems to have a big toy line and I can see it selling. Unless they fuse it with the 2015 or 2016 Sentai show. The past PR anniversary seasons were adapted or use footage from the Sentai anniversary shows. For the 25th anniversary, they will likely have Tommy become a ranger in the second season of the PR version of ToQger.

I don't abuse my friends for watching crap tv, I won't get at anybody for enjoying megaforce. Personally I think it's unbelievable garbage. I have always enjoyed the show, especially some Disney era stuff, and as a film student I can honestly say megaforce and the new series is offensive to my sensibilities. I've watched maybe half of gokaiger and not recently, so I judge based on the appalling work the Saban crew has done, I just pray at the very least we get some better actors next year.

At this rate, we will be so behind. Unlike VR Troopers, all of the recent Sentai shows are film in HD. So I don't think they will look that dated.

Maybe it'll be good to get really far behind, give Saban more time to carefully plan their stories. It's impressive that Saban was able to build a continuity and universe, when they didn't even know what footage they were gonna get back in the days before Lightspeed. So there is no excuse for it not to be the same now they have the internet to know like five years before the PR adaptation is done.

I don't see them skipping ToQger because how popular trains are. Maybe the 2015 sentai bombs then they fuse ToQger and the 2016 sentai series for the 25th anniversary.

I'm getting tired of the word "super". What's so special about that word? Well unless Saban has a contract with Nick they are gonna keep doing this. Saban should transfer Power Rangers into Cartoon Network or the Hub (despite their competition towards Hasbro) cause at least in these channels they actually give a crap about their shows.
