This episode is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, the writing was quite enjoyable, especially with the little references occasionally peppered throughout the episode. On the other hand, there was the inclusion of the Sentai-only suits. It's... okay. There's room for improvement, but it's Neo-Saban. I'm not expecting much, and even if I did expect more, I can't really do anything about it.

If that's Tommy, I swear...

At least this episode gave us one of my favorite lines in the whole show.

"What? You've never seen a ranger buying Froyo before?"

Alex Hartman slightly redeemed himself with that line. Slightly.

I DVRed this episode because I was going to be out. Now I don't even know if I should bother watching it.... Well, I almost surely will just so I can be justified in my criticism, but god damn the amount of laziness present in it is just appalling.

The earliest stuff wasn't that special but still is beloved, the point when the status quo totally shifts (Lost Galaxy and the introduction of Metru Nui) is considered The Golden Age, there was a huge shift in direction at one point that made fans divisive (Disney's purchase and the darkening of the story once we hit Voya Nui), a brighter point followed by a darker turn (JF and then RPM and the two halves of the Karda Nui arc with the swamp stuff and years end revelation being darker than the start of the year), a dry period (the 3rd cancellation of PR and Bara Magna-end of Bionicle stuff. Yes I know I'm just making a pun), and a point when when it all came back in a new way and disappointed a lot of the old fans (Neo-Saban and Hero Factory)."

It wasn't the most accurate analysis, but still quite applicable in many places.

What's with this editing?

I mean, they edited out Dynaman, Midoranger, Green Sai and DenjiPink, so why the hell does Yellow Mask and Flash Pink get a pass? Come on, Saban. It'd be beyond easy just to have the scene of In Space Yellow to be the start, especially considering she even changes off-screen (therefore needing ZERO new footage) as well as going to straight to Time Pink, there is just absolutely no justification for why they were there. None.

Looks like my prediction of Jayden's involvement on the first page went exactly the way I was worried.

Also, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this, but wtf was with them having Troy put the Double Disc in the Fire Smasher? The Double Disc multiplies the weapon they're holding, yet the Fire Smasher does not multiply (because, unsurprisingly it was just the normal disc in the Rekka Daizanto). When Noah uses it the swords multiply so they can't pretend that's not what it does. Why the hell is there edited footage of him using it when it clearly isn't supposed to be used in that scene?

I guess we all have our opinions...

Okay, I think I know what I might have done if I could have made this episode any differently, or just overall what I think would have been an AWESOME tribute to Samurai, since what we got was far from it.

Make it a two (or three) parter and use the footage from Goseiger vs Shinkenger. Hey, it's an excuse to use the movie footage, giving us an epic battle against evil Jayden (probably under Octaroo's control, for sake of the story) and tying up the loose ends of Samurai by having the Megaforce crew use their Legendary powers to destroy Octaroo before eventually duking it out with the MOTW from the Shinkenger Tribute. I'm sure Kickback could flesh out a better story, but at least this way we get a cool battle, the last of the Samurai villains will be gone, and the Megaforce crew will actually have earned the Legendary Samurai Megazord.

I just realized, wouldn't the new power rangers give us the slight chance of western releases of the Dairanger SH Figuarts?

I'd like to have that too. Just have the Super Megaforce Rangers go up against the Kamen Riders in a SHT style series of episodes and make a Power Rider spin off. Because I'd watch that insane shit before any of this boring stuff. Hell, I'd rather watch a movie with Tsukasa trying to hit on Gia and neither of them understanding each other if it doesn't mean that people have to watch Super Megaforce.

Bullshit it wasn't. That's when Bionicle was at it's height. It was eerie, mystic, mysterious...

Bionicle early on was great. 2004 was great, but 2005 was when interest started to waver. It picked up again with Voya Nui in 2006, which was quite popular, with 2007 less so. 2008 and 2009 were full of revelations, but while the story offered the odd big bit of excitement, the sets and narrative overall was weak to most. Bara Manga started the finale, fatal, downward spiral.

Right now Super Megafuckingterrible Farce could chuck in clips of Battletoads while the Megarangers say vague dialogue over the top of it for all the editors seem to care. Megaforce had no characters, no plot....nothing and yet since it was basically all Goseiger footage it was still mostly coherent. Super literally is just slapdash Gokaiger clips strung together with no sense of purpose, continuity, logic or reason. The first season was soulless and hollow, this show is a fucking hellish nightmare.

I haven't watched it yet but I don't have a problem because I like the show. Probably the best series since RPM.

Huh. I thought my analysis was fairly accurate, albeit hastily put together hence the "nothing special" thing. But yeah, the first 3 years was awesome. Mysterious heroes arrive on an island and discover it's their destiny to defeat an ancient evil the basically put God in a coma.

Man so many memories of this toy line, and story. :cry. I might just cry, since I was the biggest Bionicle nerd of my grade and still when people see me they think of that. So many epics stories and memories.

I saw some of the clips on Rangercrews youtube, they werent that bad, Im jsut not gonna get upset over this. Yes we have whatever the powers are called, but after Dairanger once, I wasnt gonna be suprised if we had them again.

I think it highlights just how crap and lazy Saban are. There is absolutely nothing lost from the Sentai scenes not being there. The fact that it is exactly the same quality of Saban's choppy edits speaks volumes as well.

I'm two episodes behind but, I don't know I just can't really be bothered to catch up.

The original footage while nice, feels a bit disjointed from the rest of the show. I'm getting more enjoyment out of the Gokaiger footage but I think if that's the point I'd rather watch Gokaiger again.

It just astounds me how lazy and sloppy this season feels…for an anniversary show too.

Power Rangers is dear to my heart but I've hit an epiphany with the show in that I can't just watch it…

I think at this point I'm going to just wait for SM to be finished, watch the last couple of episodes and maybe Silver's debut to see how they incorporate the Legend War into the plot.
