The Dino Thunder logos are not the reason behind the Sentai suit usage. People are searching for logic when I don't think there is any. |
That doesn't mean the thing is thrown out the window. They probably used a different Liveman change for all we now. Besides this DT stuff still looks more possible than every pre-Zyu sentai being used.
|
The Dino Thunder connection is nothing more than people desperately grasping for logic because they want things to make more sense. So they're forcing connections that don't exist. The simple truth is that this show is horrifically edited.
|
Alright, I kinda dug this episode. It was nice to see Casey again, especially since he was way more involved than Jayden was. Not a superb episode and it still hasn't topped my current favorite episode of this season, the Wild Force episode, but hey, it was an alright episode.
Now, I can't wait until next Saturday for Orion to show u-wait...why is there no listing for an episode next week on my DVR? Edit: ...Wait, it's not coming out until April 5th? That's...weird. |

Not that SMF or PR in general is really following along with things they've said in the past but didn't Dino Thunder try to tell us that the Morphing Grid could only handle one ranger of each color at a time? I mean, we've seen that isn't true often enough but they did say something to that extent. They also said that when each Ranger does their thing they give their memories (any powers?) into that meteor thing. Neither of these things were true when they met up with Ninja Storm so I don't see why it would effect anything now. Especially with the different companies. Would have been an easy thing to say that all the past rangers have had their powers converted to the keys at some point for reasons. |
Guys Guys, calm down. JDF will be in my town in November for Wizard World Comicon. If the show hasn't explained yet, I will ask him personally what those emblems mean, and why they were included. If anyone should know, he should. I mean, from what I've seen, he is a super nice guy, and will probably answer the question.
Also, we've got like 8 seconds of original footage of Gokaiger suits. Granted it's residual background stuff for the morph, but still, Original Footage. Woot. Again Also: They must release a Jungle Fury Rhino and Wolf ranger key, if not just Wolf ranger. That suit is bossome, and purple is a cool color. I just love that suit. |

I'm not asking about connections to SMF. I just wanna know why the emblems were in Dino Thunder. Like they wanted to explain, but didn't have time to, or the proper licensing too or something.
|
Or that they were just Easter Eggs that JDF probably wasn't even told about because they don't mean anything and never will.
I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but this is getting a little tiresome. They're tiny emblems in the backgrounds of scenes, they're not pointed out, they're not focussed on, they just don't mean anything. They are not explanation behind lazy editing, they're just nothing. |

If no one ever says otherwise that's the end of it. Hell, we never got an explanation for the phantom ranger. Fan fiction writers constantly insist on fanon explanations for things. Even though Tommy's siblings were never named everyone and their grandma refers to them by fanon names. What I'm try to say is, getting annoyed about people make theories isn't going to help. If the fanon is going to latch onto it (and in my opinion it already has) then it will and that's final. Like I said in my previous post if they don't use this as a link I personally think they've missed a trick. If they've lucked into this than by god that's seriously lucky. And in 20 episodes who's to say we won't see a liveman morph. Plenty of things are shown but never explained. It is not a problem with SMF alone. eg., Time force has those CGD logos. Often this is simply one writer wanting to do something plotwise that gets left out because of time constraints or "producer says no". Rarely are those hints of missing plot ever edited out. By all means call it lazy editing because I do agree with you there, but people seem to conveniently forget the multitude of problems that are peppered throughout the franchise's 20 years. This is why I think people are being a little too harsh. But again I'm not telling anyone to stop, or that they're wrong. Let's just try and be intelligence and cordial about this whole thing. |
I agree. There's no meaning to them at all other than what people are misplacing to them. I also don't wish to appear rude. I really don't. But the logic of "let's imagine any connection at all so this show can make sense" is just getting old. Disney wasn't planting seeds for Saban to use if they ever reacquired to franchise. There is no underlying logic to this. It's an easter egg from Dino Thunder, that's it.
And if you think JDF is always a nice guy, trust me, that isn't the case. |
After last week's excuse for an episode I went in expecting the worse, but as far things go this one actually wasn't that bad. It wasn't without it's problems though - Casey seemed REALLY out of it through the entire thing, and "A Ranger never lets go of his/her weapons." seems like a really odd message to be teaching kids.
However the same stupid things keep cropping up. I quite liked the idea of keeping the Goseiger suits at first, but even I can't deny how increasingly pointless they've become. And surely Noah must have a damn laptop? Why the hell does he keep researching the past rangers at school??? Also, was that Jungle Fury footage they used? After the previous "database" footage that comes as a bit of a surprise. |

All good points. Only reason they are having the Goseiger suits show up is to fill an extra couple of seconds and hoping to move unsold Megaforce toys. Only thing I can think that makes sense is the execs decided they should show them in every episode since all these others suits pop up and kids will still want to buy the toys. And, yes, the school computer thing is dumb on a whole new level. |
Yeah that scene was REALLY dumb and Troy even got on Noah's case about the whole researching thing, minus not for the reason we're getting on his case about it, but still :lol.
|
Was Troy trying to be like Marvelous in this episode? Because I'm pretty sure he failed (and I haven't even watched Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger).

Finally saw this one. Alright, two things I didnt like- Troy was acting like a dick for some reason, where did the importance of weapons come from? Casey seemed, out of it this time. I dont know, he just seemed to not be in this totally.
But my favorite Red, my favorite of this series is my favorite from the tributed series in legendary form. Along with a great way to tribute the whole series. Plus no "new powers" Loved the episode! |
So I finally sat down to watch this one. Here are my thoughts.
Let me preface this by saying I really did think this was a better and more polished episode than the previous 5. But "better" doesn't mean much when talking about this show. - I'm going to have to say this every week. But the ADR is absolute garbage and still has not improved since the first episode. It's just awful in every possible scene it can be. - I know a lot of people have lauded Jason Smith for apparently being really good for the franchise. But he was terrible in Jungle Fury and is somehow even more drastically unnatural here. And his writing has been nothing to speak of at all this season. Yet again Azim appears to be the only actor who emotes on this set. - VERY happy to see that "New Powers" were not present in this episode. However, too little too late if you ask me. The damage from the complete lack of editing and any form of continuity or respect for the franchise was thrown out the window long ago by this show. It's great they got their act together I guess. But we've already seen a ton of sentai stuff sneak in here with no context at all. And no matter how much people desperately try to piece something together with plot threads that don't exist, it just doesn't work. Call yourself a "true fan" or "diehard" or whatever you want, but you should expect better of something if you truly love it. Not settle for what we've been given. - Still trying to keep up the uselessness of the Megaforce suits eh? Still see no point to that at all. They've basically turned them into the ninja costumes from MMPR. They're just a pointless in between state now. - The bits with Emma & Jake were actually really enjoyable. I honestly mean that. Their interaction with Casey was very akin to Ahim & Doc's with Jan in Gokaiger. That was meaningful interaction for once. - The episode itself was overall good though despite any criticisms I may have. It distilled the most core point & plot of the episode it's adapted from and presented it pretty decently. The show actually has improved. I'll give it that. But improvement hardly matters when the show is still this bad. Oh and Troy was a total prick this week. For no apparent reason. Ridiculously out of character the entire episode. |

...the ninja suits in MMPR were actually used for something :p |
well to be fair the supermegaforce suits, and the legend suits even more so, put a much higher strain on their physical stamina and there energy, hence the need for normal megaforce suits. they only use the stronger suits when needed.

Note: This is the first episode to feature the writers of "Power Rangers Samurai". The episodes of Megaforce and first 5 of Super Megaforce were written by the cast brought in for Super Samurai.

My opening thought is why is Jake carrying a soccer ball with him to the Zoo? Do they think, in the week since the last episode, we'll forget he plays soccer? And it's understandable that they didn't know it was Casey at first. He had his head down the entire time, and all Gosei has in the base is keys. Not faces to go with the keys. It's not like he waved to the crowd and said "HI! I'm Casey! I was once the Jungle Fury Red Ranger! HI MEGAFORCERS!"
It's also understandable they didn't know the logo at first either. Yes, it's on the keys. But it's still understandable. And understandable when they met him face to face in the park. When the first fight scene comes there was absolutely no reason for them to be in the Goseger suits. None. They didn't fight, they didn't morph, they just showed up as Goseiger. They could've done this whole season without them to be honest. And then when they start fighting.. Oh My God Shut The Hell Up. Every move you make does not need narrated like I'm watching a Citizen Kane in brightly colored spandex. And watching Jake's VO try and match Doc is painful. Physically painful. I am sitting here in pain watching it happen. Pain. There's just to much needless talking during the fighting. To many attempts at witty one-liners that aren't witty, funny, or entertaining. And when they finish the battle and are back in the park, why exactly did Troy go all You Can't Let Go of your Weapon? That's completely out of character for him. Especially since he, Gia, and somehow Noah (Which I can't explain for the life of me), beat him back without their weapons. Ignoring the fact Casey went all Mister Myagi on them, who leaves the cage to a Tiger enclosure unlocked and unsupervised? Who runs that Zoo?! And for that matter how exactly did Noah spend the night inside a school, during an invasion, and not one teacher peek inside before leaving and say "Hey, go Home." And his parents never once thought to call the school? They disappear, ALL THE TIME, and not one person questions anything! And during the second battle scene, once again, here they come out as Goseiger for no other reason than (I'm guessing) someone didn't want to pay them for actual on-screen time and just went with more generic VO work. There's no reason for it and it just wastes time. This entire season would've worked so much better if they would've completely lost their MF powers at the start and were only able to use SMF. And while I'm on the subject. Troy makes this big deal, twice, about not losing their weapons. He tries stealing them again, they steal them back, and then they still fight him hand to hand! Casey knowing they were rangers is the only thing I've seen so far that kind of makes sense. And with Jayden last week, I think every past ranger is just watching the invasion. But where in Gokaiger where they explained them not having their power because they're in the keys, in Super Megaforce there is no explanation. There's never a damn explanation. And then, after all of that, instead of knowing their friends were in trouble and showing up in Legendary, they show up in Goseiger. Again. And remember, back towards the begining, when I said Jake playing Doc is painful to me physically? So is Troy ending every damned battle with "That's a Super Megaaa Win!" Yes, this post was mostly negative and typed as I watched. But this season.. This isn't a tribute to the fans of the past 20 years. It's a money grab. And I don't know why we expected different. |

2.) I think the parents not giving a crap about where their kids are has been in Power Rangers for quite a while. Did TJ, Carlos, Ashley, and Cassie's parent's know that they were in space instead of going to school? |
Damn. Christina Masterson in this episode... unf unf unf.
|
I liked it. I never watched Jungle Fury, but I knew the way they kept going back to the guy at the zoo, he'd turn our to be a ranger from some point

The episode was very much better then anything Super Megaforce has given us til now. I'm impressed in some ways.
Not to say the episode didn't have its faults. Troy still delivers every single line in the most painfully and obnoxiously awful way possible, the Gia worship was out of place and is quickly turning her into an annoying Mary Sue and they still need to chill out with the dialogue during fights but it was actually an OK episode. It was also a bit annoying that whenever they lost their weapons wanting the weapons back became the only thing they could bring themselves to talk about (and being SMF, they talked about it a lot), even when Red/Blue/Yellow were competently fighting hand-to-hand. Still though, Gia you do not prefer blasters over swords and it was bizarre how they seemed to consider "Phoenix" to be a real-life animal, but whatever. Also, how many children have died from walking into that tiger enclosure and who thinks that a tiger that's eaten won't attack anyway? |
