Next year is the 25th anniversary of the series? I wonder what happen to the Sonic game that Sega talk about for the PS4, XO and Wii U? They tease a game on the PS4, Wii U and XO for 2015 and nothing happen.

That game is on the 3DS only. It seems like Boom has replace the original series (1991 - 2013) now. I haven't seen Boom and I hear mixed things about the show. It's a shame that CN did a poor job on marketing the show. I barely saw any ads for the show and they put the show on the worst time slot. Not to mention the toys are only sold at Toys R Us.

Most people I talk to love Boom. And honestly, what did you expect from Cartoon Network? If it's not an in-house production, it gets the shaft, and even then it's not safe. And the toys have always been more or less a TRU exclusive. |
I kinda lost track of Boom the show, but the first 10 or so episodes I really liked. Its silly, but a lot of fun.

It's basically the snarkier and way smarter cousin to Adventures. |
I've never even watched an episode of Sonic Boom...

Looks like a 25th anniversary game will be announced next year - http://www.gamnesia.com/news/sega-wi...r#.VZv1wfneLow
Please be good and don't rush out the game like Sega did almost a decade ago. |
Well...
5th Anniversary: No game 10th Anniversary: Sonic Adventure 2 (Good) 15th Anniversary: Sonic '06 (Horrible) 20th Anniversary: Sonic Generations (Great) Assuming the pattern holds... |

I kid, I kid. I think Sonic Team learned their lesson with '06 (since I'm pretty sure this is gonna turn out to be the Sonic Team made PS4/Xbone one that was supposed to come out later this year). |
Colors and Generations are both good games. I think another good Sonic game is possible. Lost World had too many ideas that they had on paper and it end up being okay at best.

25 years today, a legacy began. It began with a game to showcase a console. It became a franchise that would rival a titan. One that, through ups and downs, has endured. A franchise that despite its theme and its face, is all too human. One that has misstepped, one that has triumphed. One that has known all too well the stale taste of mediocrity. But one that has carried on through thick and through thin, through good and bad. One that has brought joy to millions, one that entertained us, one that shaped us, one that introduced us to lifelong friends, inside and outside of its world.
Today we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. Today we celebrate a milestone that few media, let alone video games, can say they have reached. And for all its sins, for all its failures... It's still here. He's still running. And in that... one can find hope. One can take solace. In a world where things are shuttered and erased far too quickly for underperforming, for failing to meet expectations, here is one that has proven time and again that whatever happens, you can still keep going. You can still get up and try again. Here is a franchise that, more than any other, shows us what it is to be alive, and inspires us to celebrate it. Here's to you Sonic, my oldest friend. Here's to a quarter of a century of moving ever forward, no matter what obstacles we may meet. And here's to many more. For wherever you may run... so will I. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2qD1h9mGF0 |
Sonic is one of my first video game franchises. I saw the animated series first before I played the games. I remember playing Sonic 1 at a KBToys store back in 1995 when I was only four years old.

Intrigued that they won't acknowledge the Story Book games though. |

I guess a late anniversary is not too bad. I still don't know why people act like it's better forever since we had a good Sonic game. We still had Colors and Generations from a few years ago. Yeah Boom sucked, but it was a spin off game and not a main canon game in the main series.

I still stand by my belief that Lost World was pretty good, but that's besides the point. We've got Fire and Ice coming this year which is at least shaping up to be decent at the very least, so I don't mind a wait. I've said this before, I'll say it again- I'm okay with them taking their time to get everything right rather than rush it out like they did 06. The timing is a bit odd, but then again, Kamen Rider celebrated its 40th for two full series and Sailor Moon had a two-year long anniversary as well. So maybe it's not that odd after all. |

I wait for people to let that sink in whenever they say a game like Skylanders or WoW "aren't that old". |

Hey Tali. New chance at a good Sonic figure.
|
I don't consider 5 years old to be a long time. If Sonic Generations came out 10 years ago and we haven't had a good game in a whole decade, I would agree. Sonic still had good games over the years. The GBA and DS games are pretty fun like Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush. I also find Adventure 1 & 2 still be decent games. I grew up with the classic games too, but saying "Sonic stop being good after the Genesis days" always felt wrong to me.
Sonic had it better than Crash and Spyro after they move on to the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox in my opinion. |

Is it a statue? An action figure? How big is "medium"? Quote:
