First of...could we just stop talking about saban as in saban the person? its just the company name. The actual man has nothing to do with pr anymore in that regard.

Yeah and why wouldnt they let the guys at Saban produce this? Toei could care less what quality Power Rangers has. Its not their product and only few seasons get aired in japan.

It might be true that PR is represntative of Toei (and Super Sentai) outside of japan to a certain degree but its not like what they do is harmful. Its still Saban the company that comes up with the stupid ideas for the plots,casts the blandest of bland actors and puts the show lazily together (for the most part). The guys at Toei are just sitting there saying "Yeah whatever guys."

You wanna make it sound like Toei is to blame for everything that happens with PR and that simply is not true. They own the right to the source material and thats it. Everything else is to blame on the actual company that produces the show and thats still Saban.

And onto the episode! A great episode, and honestly, the best I've seen from Super Megaforce. This episode renewed my faith. And no, that wasn't sarcasm. I love Orion, I love his origin, I love they took Gai's episode and changed enough to be different without becoming wrong. You know? Absolutely loved it.

My only complaints were Troy's classroom speech which was eye-rollingly after school special, and the Goseiger suits. Just save time, go Gokaiger, and be done with it. Please.

... Oh and watching Jake do Soc's roll call pose where he wiggles. I'll have nightmares about that.

Okay good episode. We may have explanation for Sentai suits. It's obvious Orion's planet had Power Rangers. So maybe it was Diaranger maskman or Flashman.

Gia's only tropes are *scowl* and *oh wow an extra Ranger must bang*

Jokes aside, that was probably THE BEST episode of Power Rangers in YEARS. It didn't feel good just in comparison to all the lacklustre seasons but there seemed to be genuine love, effort and enthusiasm put into this episode. From heaps of new footage, leaps of improvement in the acting and much more focused writing.

I was also surprised to see some of the biggest deviations from Gokaiger were actually a lot darker. Gai became the Silver Ranger through his being a super fan, Orion turns out to be a lot more of a badass, a vigilante fuelled by vengeance and although tragic backstories are fairly trite in sentai, I'd grown to accept Neo-Saban as a staple of watered down family friendly entertainment.

So with that in mind, hearing Orion talking about war crimes, dead worlds and fallen heroes feels very well...Disney, not Saban at all, and that is great. Plus they left some of the darkest parts of this episode intact, while changing some of the silliest aspects. I'm not a "grimdark" fan, but I don't remember the last time Power Rangers got so serious, it was GREAT.

The editing for the Gokaiger footage was still largely atrocious though. Maybe it's because I've seen Gokaiger but I can painfully tell where footage has been smashed together.

The way I usually tell is, "is that Japanese text?" Or sparks squib? Cause I don't think Saban uses squibs for sparks.

I really hope every time they use the suit footage of Gai getting over-excited, they play it off as Orion being giddy over getting revenge on the Armada.

I love the idea, but admittedly though, that would make his character kinda...odd.

This episode almost felt like a copy/paste of "The Power of Gold" from Power Rangers Zeo, as Trekkieb47 had mentioned on Twitter. Rangers are being overwhelmed constantly by X-Borgs and when they show up to fight, they end up watching this new Power Ranger take down the baddies wondering what side he's on.

I voted "Mega" only because I felt there could have been more done - a theme song even for the Silver Ranger. And the Lost Galaxy legendary morph, once again, featured not even a single graphical edit (can we at least get a flash of light, or something?)

The show nailed all the big things right this week, but continued to miss all the small things. And when you combine enough small things together, you end up with a big thing ... and week after week, it continues to result in my disappointment.

Hell, I'd make video edits for free to polish up this show.

Just want to add ... since the show is now featuring the work from the Samurai writers (who were replaced in Super Samurai and Megaforce, then brought back for 2/3rds of Super Megaforce) they are shining high and mighty. These last two episodes have been far more enjoyable in terms of dialogue and plot than anything we had received prior with Super Megaforce. No offense meant to those writers, but the comparisons really show that a breath of fresh air was needed in the writing department.

Best episode of the season yet.

Honestly? No. I forgot what the tip of the Quasar Saber looked like, and I doubt any kids noticed either. It still worked.

i honestly forgot it was the dragon dagger and thought they just swapped the colors somehow.

Of all the legitimate things to complain about with this series, harping on the fact the tip of the blade seen on screen for less then four seconds wasn't the blade he was holding, seems like needless nerd-nitpicking to be honest.

Yeah, we have more important things to bitch about.

I actually really liked this episode.

And if it weren't for me reading the posts here beforehand, I probably wouldn't have even caught the Quasar Saber/Dragon Dagger gaff. And that's the only part that seemed bad to me.

Lost Galaxy was a random choice, but I still think it was really cool to have an original legendary transformation.

And Orion didn't rub me the wrong way yet. (Unlike all of Doc's mannerisms still not working for Jake... so I guess there was something else I didn't like in this one.) I just hope that we get an explanation for his powers next episode.

Or Troy's classroom speech, or Troy's "WE DONT LOSE OUR FUCKING WEAPONS!", or.. Troy. Know what, complain about everything about Troy.

Jake doing Doc's rollcall pose and everyone pretending it was normal, or Jake as Doc at all, is one of single most painful things I've watched as a fan of PR.
