I wonder what exactly is this series' gimmick. It's going to be VERY difficult to top "I'm wearing an orange on my head" with kids.

I'm not sure the 2015 NSX would be much help in cross-promoting. It's a different beast than the previous NSX and has a squishy "summer 2015" release date.

Now, it would be amazingly cool if Honda gave/lent them one of their new $100,000 super cars to use in next years summer movie but I've got a feeling (and a lot of hope) there may be a drive towards automobile-nostalgia with this one.

There's a laundry list of really cool Japanese cars that would lend themselves to being done up in wacky Kamen Rider attire (Mazda RX3, for example) while also letting gearheads sort out which version of each car was being used. :)

I could make a list of fun cars they could pull out. Just about anything from Nissan in the 1970's (240Z, please?), some of the random cars Mazda stuffed a rotary in (RX3 maybe?), Datsun had a few really fun cars other than the Z cars, any model year Skyline, plenty of Subaru's to pick from and that's not even getting into the more out there stuff (tiny vans, city cars, etc).

Depending on how many cars are going to be in the series, and how they want to play this, they could end up with a lot of the car guys watching just to see which cars show up.

Hell, they could make a team of bad guys roll up in Silvias (maybe one each S13, S14 and S15) while the leader is in a Sil80 just to screw with the drift crowd a bit. :)

I doubt it will get anywhere near that nuts. That's a crazy amount of cars and a lot of money for a weekly show (plus trying to find an excuse for a whole slew of cars) but, if they are using cars the way ToQger is using trains, maybe we'll see a lot of cars. :D

That would be heaven for me to see modified versions of those cars. In fact, it will be a missed opportunity if the creators don't take full advantage of the custom car culture. Gaim has it's dance crews and Drive should have its car clubs, each with a Rider and a custom vehicle. I think if that happened, even if the story is awful, I'd stick with it. I love cars.

I wonder how Drive will continue the "numbering" theme since Decade... I.e. Decade (1 card); Double (2 memories); OOO (3 medals); Fourze (4 switches); Wizard (5 fingers on the driver); Gaim (6 slices on the visor).

It was broken when Wizard didn't use five rings. Sure, it can be argued that they carried it on "in spirit" with the five fingers on the hand (duh) but the six slices seems like it's seriously stretching it. Unless there's a reasonably obvious example of "7" being used in this series, I think it's safe to say the past two seasons references were just coincidences.

The number gimmick was ditched with Fourze. It was clear that increasing the number of collectible trinkets or items necessary to henshin became ridiculous convoluted once we hit 4. Anyone who thinks otherwise is literally reading too much into things, there will be no number gimmick in Drive.

Ya know, I hadn't even thought of car clubs.

That would be fantastic, especially if they themed them (a drift team, a Bōsōzoku team, a micro/city car team, a VIP team and maybe a truck/SUV team or van team).

If they're using a bracer and you lock a car into the bracer to henshin and get the car, there might be incentive to find as many cars as they can and stuff them all into the show (so they can sell a zillion different Matchbox cars).

They could even go so far as to have a Matchbox sized car you put into the bracer for power ups and a key (like the VW keys that you hit a button on and they "switchblade" open) for the henshin trigger. This would give them two different collectibles to sell and a switchblade key would allow for some interesting henshin poses and a "turn on" mechanic for activating the belt.

Damnit, now I want this show and I know it's not the show they're going to give us. :lolol

Well to be fair, an unlocked Lockseed does have a small resemblance to the numeral "6". They might've switched from "how many things can we cram onto a belt" to more subtle cues. This season will finally confirm or debunk that theory.

Again, when people look hard enough they can find "patterns" in anything. I highly doubt any sort of consideration was given to the number 6 being a really subtle design element in this show. IMO it wasn't very subtle to have the numeric symbolism of the number five on Wizard's driver. The most I'll admit is that it's more of a stretch to talk about Gaim's visor. All in all these are symbols that are noticeable features on the rider's suit design so an argument with coherent logic still exists. I would not simply attribute it to "looking too hard" for patterns. If Drive has no clear homage to the number 7 anywhere on his suit (be it 7 or VII) then it's really a broken pattern.

I would think words like 'coincidence' hold only if there've been official statements brushing it off.. Unless you make the argument that Toei didn't think it was important enough to address, in which case, fair enough.

Not to say that the theory is true, but I could imagine after the number 4 it'd be pretty hard to incorporate future numbers in non-subtle ways. I mean, the number 5 isn't so hard, hell, they already did have a Rider series with the number 5 as a motif, but I really don't know how you'd incorporate 6, outside of subtle puns, like those which may or may not be happening with Gaim.

The visor thing is the biggest stretch, because it's just supposed to look like segmented fruit and six happens to be an even number. If they'd used an uneven amount it would have looked lopsided and any less than six wouldn't have really given the impression of the segmented orange. If they wanted to clearly reference the number theme, why wasn't the orange locksided no.6?

And again, yeah, Wizard uses rings and the human hand just happens to have 5 fingers. I find it impossible to see these as anything more than coincidences.

I can't confirm or deny the continuing existence of the number theme, but I will say it does make sense that they would dial it down as the years go on. I could see them not wanting to deal with an increasing number of items on a single belt. Instead choosing to make subtle/overt references to a certain number with a single item or belt.

Maybe the numbering thing was meant to homage the first three riders who have numbered names. Since it stops at Wizard the 4th Neo-Hesei rider like it did with Riderman.

I wouldn't use the word IMPOSSIBLE, just the word IMPROBABLE. I feel Gaim's the biggest stretch for the aesthetic reasons you mentioned; 8 slices would have been too much and 4 slices would have been too little. But they could EASILY have used a symbol other than a hand for Wizard's driver. In fact some people found the hand thing very odd when scans of the Wizard suit first turned up.

Anyway I shall leave it at that now, and wait till Drive's suit appears to see how far fan speculation can take things. :) Also, I wonder if they'll do another Decade when we reach the tenth neo Heisei rider, lol

Wait, people are using the slices in Gaim's visor to denote the number 6? Yeah, now that is a stretch. I always thought it was the unlocked Lockseed that looked like the 6, if anything.
