I've enjoyed it so far, but I've stuck with it purely for Kinji. Also, I have a heart for Fuuka.
Unfortunately I feel like the mecha designs are pretty weak, just slamming together as many things as possible. Same for the MOTW designs. Just blah. One thing that was just sublime last season was the Shadow Line and the Kurows, which makes it hard to top. I'm glad they stopped making every story about Takaharu who does absolutely nothing but scream about how hot things are, and still manages to be the best through brute force. The only singular time I felt there was anything to him was the one episode that showed him practicing late at night with Fuuka, where he appeared internally driven. At least King's (Kyoryuger) story line was a little more humbling for the second half. Right (ToQger) suffered the same problem, very little depth. I will still contend that over the last couple of seasons, Captain Marvelous (GoKaiger) and Takeru (Shinkenger) have been the better Red leaders, because their characters were not one dimensional. Hiromu from Go-Busters really doesn't rate either, since his issues were more fowl than the others. |

The recent eps were alright.

Why does this trope exist? |

children make mistakes, those characters make mistakes. they're relatable to kids. like, Takeru probably wasn't as relatable to kids as Mako or Chiaki were. |
I've been enjoying it from the beginning, but now that I'm caught up I really like where it's been going, especially with Kyuuemon. I'm really interested to see where it goes from here, especially since we're starting to get close to the end.

So, i've always wondered and Google has been of no help: what excactly does "wasshoi" mean in this context? Also, what are the exact words that Kinji and Taka use when they say "I'm getting fired up" "no hiding for us" and "hiding doesn't stop party night"? I'm gonna cosplay one of the two character and want to say some of their catchphrases, but I can't quite make out what they're saying.

Wasshoi is an exclamation that's sort of like when a pirate shouts "Heave Ho!" It's like, a call to work together, or a sort of self-congratulation that your group succeeded by working together. "I'm getting fired up" is "燃えて来た" (moete kita). "Moete" literally means "on fire," and "kita" means "came." Given the context, Takaharu is saying "My 'on fire' came." But because that doesn't make sense, Over-Time translated it to something more colloquial. Their opening cry is, "Shinobinare domo shinobanai! Shuriken Sentai Ninninjaa!" which literally means "even though we're shinobi (another word for ninja), we don't conceal ourselves! Throwing-Star Squad Ninninger." Over-Time translates it as "the shinboi who don't remain hidden! Etc..." "No hiding for us, we're running wild," from what I can tell is, "shinobu dokoro ka abareru ze!" This is the one I'm least clear on. I think it literally means "Far from hidden, we're rampaging." (I think? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) "Hiding doesn't stop party night," is actually, "shinobinare domo Party Night." It literally means "even though I'm a shinobi, it's party night." Shinobi, in addition to being another word for ninja, means "concealed" and/or "hidden." This phrase is sort of a play on words which probably makes it difficult to translate. |

Anyways, thanks. |
NO!

I dropped Ninninger after eps. 25.
It's not that terrible, to be honest, just there's nothing in it that makes me want to go on. Last time I dropped a Sentai show was goseiger, after 9 eps., & it was far worse than Ninninger IMO. |
I've enjoyed it up to this point, but i'm ready for the main plot to kick into action, especially with only 10ish episodes left. Kibaoni Mangetsu definitely seems like he's going to be the catalyst for actual stuff to happen though, so I'm excited.

http://www.rangerboard.com/showthrea...72718&page=209 It's great when you agree so closely with someone else, but the guy could quote my post if that were the case. It's pretty poor form to steal someone else's ideas and words and pass them off as your own. |
Agreed.
Sentai King, either credit people or come up with your own posts. Plagiarism in any shape or form is not cool. |
I've only been paying attention on and off but... does anyone else feel like there's no end in sight for this show?
We're FORTY-ONE episodes in and the story hasn't really progressed at all. They're no closer to the role of Last Ninja and the Big Bad of the season is barely a footnote to the action. |

Even now in its 40s Ninninger just doesn't interested me and even its diehard fans are jumping ship on here. A crying shame too as it had promise and just never lived up to that. If this series and the next kill Sentai it won't come as a surprise to me. |
I am still enjoying the show. I know I am in the minority and that is okay, but I think the show is entertaining and it is accomplishing its goal; entertain a young audience. Its good to just turn off your brain and watch. And the dance at the end is fun as well.

I think for a writer's first time making a Sentai, it hits the basic marks of what a Sentai should be, they aren't trying to do anything TOO different, instead, they make a show that's fun to watch.

As for the show itself, I'm surprised I like it so much considering what the problems people have with it are. Even though there isn't a ton of plot in the villain department (focusing more on character development and Kinji, but that has been changing lately) it has been doing the monster of the week style episodes really well. I don't mind filler when it's done this well. |
Personally I just watch a Sentai for the action, the comedy and the robots. I did so back when I was a child and I still do so now. If a Sentai has a good plot, that's great, but it's not mandatory for me, really. If I must have a good plot, I'll read a book.
Not to mention the whole setup for the big plot doesn't exactly work in its favor. It'd be better if it was a show that ran on for several seasons; it's one of those that could make it happen by doing stuff like bringing in more Yokai factions or something like that, with Gengetsu's revival being delayed over and over again by the loss of fear due to you-know-who. ...actually, I'd be down for another year of Ninninger after Juohger. The Q5-Q8 mecha could all become one gigantic throne for HaOh Shurikenjin to sit in while Geki and the auxiliary OtomoNin decorate the thing. But that's just me. |

I have not been enjoying Ninninger. The problems I had with the show was Takaharu's comical acting like whenever he is excited, he overdoes it by shouting to the ceilings. It makes it hard to feel for a character that feels more like a cariacture.
Yakumo's dislike for ninjas was not explained and the show didn't explored his mysterious wizard skills such as how he obtained it and his connection to it. The wand that he welds look funny like he is holding a twig. Dragomaru looked like a force to be reckoned with like the Dragonzord but felt underutilized in the Megazord battles. With the mechs being A.I, I would have liked it if Shinobimaru and the other guys like Paonmaru and Surfermaru could talk, giving them distinct personalities and making them interesting. Starninger's revenge on the Werewolf Yokai was poor because in the megazord battle, the Werewolf just stood there waiting for the Mecha to kill him. No effort in some of the megazord scenes. Kyuemon Izayoi being a male when she was a still a human was odd and was not mentioned why her gender changed. The Ninningers didn't seem surprised by it which is funny because you would think such a reveal would garner a big reaction. I still think Saban will adapt Ninninger despite its poor source material. It is a strong theme, has beautiful ranger suits and yokai suits, and cool and unique mechs. The problem is the story and the characters, something that can be fixed with original footage. As for some of the weak megazord battles, we have seen original megazord footage for Dino Charge so hopefully that will continue for the Power Rangers version and aid the megazord battles to be better. |

Just get Ludd Lynn back and I think a Power Rangers version of Ninninger will be better then it's Sentai counter part. I see people saying that they like Dino Charge over Kyoryuger.

It won't surprise me if skipping seasons becomes a pattern for skipping seasons.
