The only thing I do not like about this series in one episode is that I'm getting annoying Wizard vibes. I'm waiting for the belt to yell "PUHREASE" at some point. Sounds like they got the voice over guy who did the Gokaiger call outs but mixed him with the Wizard voice over guy for this series.

Gonna say it now. He finds the other 12 Eyecons in the first 25 episodes, then for the next 25 he'll have a bigger mystery on his hands to get number 13 and 14. That way they can shill out all 15 accessory toy weapons as quickly as possible to the kiddies.
Hero: Wow, he's lazy. But he's got integrity. But he's lazy. I suppose having 98 days to get it done is a real kick in the seat though. Comedy Relief: Story wise, the background comedy characters gave off a very Den-O in the Coffee Shop vibe, the Ghost Lair looks like a reshell of Fourze's base of operations. Suit: Why oh why did they put clear plastic boobs on his chest? It's like Prince Adam to He Man with that suit. The mid henshin suit with the blank faceplate is VERY cool, but I just don't dig the chest after transformation. Everything else is fine, even the blade in the back of Musashi's form head. I also like the Faiz henshin into the suit. Also, way, way too many musical cues from the weapons. I do like that it works on an IR sight for the driver to the accessories. Bad guys: Teeeeeeeeeeeth. And pretty boys. Overall, a good start. The powerups are gonna come fast and furious though. And now, gummies. http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1444148628 |
Liked the first episode a lot. I like how Ghost seems to fight in more rural areas like Blade and Hibiki did and not just the city. And even the city seems more coast/beach based which is cool. Interesting that they went with a spiritual/Buddhist vibe more than a spoooooky ghost one but I did that a lot so far.
I hope Sage offers more information about himself, what exactly the ganma are and why they want the eyecons. And how the eyecons came to be for that matter. Yurusen doesn't bother me. It just appears to be a sarcastic advisor and that kind of humor appeals to me more than...whatever Drive did, as Kiwami stated earlier. Takeru's two friends seem like interesting side charavtwrs. I look forward to their character development regarding the supernatural stuff going on. Looking forward to Takeru's character development as well once he gets more used to his ghostly powers and discovers what connection the eyecons have to his dad. I figure hell be going through a lot of stress next episode what with the 98 days to live thing. Hope he gets more night fights though! Not much to say on the villains yet, but I like the Ganma designs. The footsoldiers do remind me of Showa Rider villain troops with their designs and the fact that they have belts. Interesting that the main monsters seem to be upgraded versions of the footsoldiers. |
i liked it. but i think the sidekicks are going to get on my nerve real fast

I liked it. Takeru is a bit of a derp, but I have a feeling he'll grow on me like Ryutaro from Den-O. The secondary characters aren't too bad. Nothing too annoying for me to complain about. Yusuren was a little grating, but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't buy one if I had the chance :lol
The action was a little bit standard, though. I did like when he got the Musashi soul, though. That part was cool. For the design in action, it was nice. I do like the Ghost suit, but the clear window over the chest is brow raising. Still not a fan of the belt. Too chunky. I also don't like all the noise things made. It seemed every action had a damn song to go along with it. I also like the story set up and the strict time limit. Gives a sense of urgency. I also like the fading in and out situation. "You're already dead, so don't worry about gettin' killed." Beautiful advice. |
Anyone notice how Musashi's topknot is a katana hilt?

Eh, it's like most first episodes, just there, way too much advertising for the toys.
Like seriously a new form right away? I wish the puppet will go away in time, possibly when the 15 Eyecons are collected. Our characters are okay, some annoying, others can see myself liking and others I'm indifferent towards. The suit looks cool and all, but when it starts form changing the orange just clashes toooooo much for me. The monsters have okay designs. Their base is quite cheap looking but their full forms kind of make up for it. Throughout the episode I felt like getting pumped but then not because of how rushed it felt. Overall I'm just going to wait for more of Ghost to see what I like and don't like. |
Okay, so first things first: the wee little puppet ghost is actually pretty cool. It is not the height of quality special effects, but it works well enough and he's amusingly dickish. He is not Mandora Boy (de gozarimasu desu). That is a huge relief.
Second: The episode was incredibly rushed; there was easily enough plot here for two, maybe even three episodes. A lot of it was also stuff that we knew from all the promo material and pre-release info. It's unavoidable that we had to actually see all that in the show itself, but it's still always a bummer when you have to watch an entire episode of set-up that you've already read all about. This is obviously not going to be the best episode of the show and definitely not the best judge of what the average episode is going to be like. That said, I still liked it. The characters are pretty basic for the moment, but Takeru seems like he'll be pretty cool. I'm not sure about his friends, though. The monk (Onari?) is obviously a major source of comic relief, but he's so lower key than anything on Drive that I don't find him overly annoying. Akari, on the other hand, I'm going to get real tired of if she's going to spend the whole season trying to Scully everything. Sage seems reasonably amusing, though; reminds me a bit of Ninninger's grandfather, only not insufferable. Wee little puppet ghost is, as mentioned, amusing dickish. Honestly, though, I'm going to need a couple episodes to get a full sense of the cast. The action is looking pretty good, though. We're getting a lot of new fight locations so far, and that's always fun. I'd love to see more natural setting and less of the same old warehouses, industrial zones, and goddamn Ajinomoto Stadium. I'm liking the suits and weapons, too. The belt's standby noises don't bother me that much - I watched Wizard for fuck's sake and anything is better than Wizard in that (and many other) regard(s). I kinda like that Ghost is invisible while fighting, too, it reminds me a bit of Ryuki and the Mirror World. Again, I do want to see more to get a better idea of how everything will work. Last point: Takeru is so damn lucky that was really Musashi's sword hilt and not something his dad bought at a thrift shop that belonged to the samurai equivalent of a Shocker mook or something. |

I don't really have an issue with the pacing of the episode. It's a pilot. They always move at lightspeed to ensure they introduce everything, and since it's an action series, they gotta have a fight, too. It was kind of inevitable.

To me, what felt rushed was the introduction of the Musashi Eyecon.
I would've much preferred all the fighting in this episode to be Ghost at his purest. I'm fine with them pushing all the exposition out quickly, though I will admit that it was rather sloppy in doing so. I really didn't enjoy how our two secondary characters just spewed out everything to get it out of the way quickly. But, in the end, I had fun and enjoyed it. It also gave me this. http://i.imgur.com/VHEGQkU.jpg |

Was a bit more..don't want to say comedic, but lighter in tone than I had hoped, but overall I really liked it. Takeru seems like he will be a good protagonist, and his being a ghost has interesting potential and the time limit gives a nice sense of urgency to everything. His ore form is damn near one of my favorite suit designs ever, I dig the driver and sounds, I like how he henshins and the damashi, the ganma are cool villains. Just..a lot of the show is really appealing to me.

I've seen it, I like it. This may be a bit darker than you've mentioned, NGW. Takeru, though not fully dead (yet), is disappearing on his friends, and if he doesn't hero-up fast, he's fully dead. That's a lot to put on to a guy, and hopefully they can pull it off well. At the same time, I do fear for his ghost gimmickery. Either it'll become stale as he is unable to interact with side characters, or they come up with some method of communication that feels forced. It'd be nice if they spent an early episode focusing on various ghost-contacting methods trying to talk to Takeru, and it had a comedic focus.

I like the ghost thing.
It's tied to his emotions, meaning he can't just hide how he's feeling so blatantly. It lets the side characters know when he's putting on a facade to better help him. It'll prevent him from going full on brood mode during the latter half of the series as many KR protagonists are apt to do without being able to lie to everyone who could possibly help him. |
I think this is going to be another great year. I like Takeru's personality, but Onari is my favorite character. I wouldn't mind if he became a rider. Speaking of future riders, I have a really strong feeling Aran is going to be rider.

I rewatched the episode with OrangeLion's subs, I think I liked theirs a tiny bit more than Over-Time's, so I may go with their stuff from now on. |

Anyone know a streaming site this was uploaded to? Been checking the place I watched Drive, but it's not there yet.

Who wants to bet that the soul of Takeru's father is most likely going to be the final EyeCon?
|
I thought it was a good start.
I am surprised that no opening credits in this episode. I was worried that Takeru would have bad acting skill like Takaharu from Ninninger but I am impressed that he doesn't talk so loud all time I am hope for Akari to have a great character development, she refused to believe in ghost but she will be at the end I would like to see Mysterious Man and Aran ( the 2 villain) getting a Ganma Form and I don't want Mysterious Man becoming Narutaki 2.0 So Sennin is more kinder DJ Sagara I guess Poor Takeru, not only he get killed by Ganma but he have 99 days to find all 15 Eyecon of Great Heroes or else he will be dead and this time will be permanently. |

Kamen Rider Ghost have potential to be the great show.
The reason of why some fan drop Drive because Previous Kamen Rider show, Kamen Rider Gaim was so very popular that some fan didn't like Drive for not being Gaim And also, Drive's humor was not the best mainly Chief's weird acting from first half of Drive which turn fans off. I think Kamen Rider Ghost is Next Den-O. They hired a writer who never done a Toku Show (unless you count Ultraman show that he wrote 2 episode) |

I wasn't even that big of a Gaim fan. I dropped Drive because I didn't find any of the characters interesting, the side characters annoying, and a lot of what it offered early on to be rather lacking.
|
i just was not hooked on Drive i watched 29 episode and nother good happned for me to keep watching ghost got me hooked and reminded me of den-o
|
Well, the first half was great. The second... well, the fights were pretty cool :)
Takeru seems like a cool enough protagonist, and the supporting cast looks not offputting, for once. |

I'm surprised so many people dropped Drive despite it becoming fantastic during its last arc. You should really finish it if you ever have the chance.
