I like the designs. I figure they 3D scanned the actors heads and built the helmets around that thus why the proportions seems odd ranger to ranger. Also realized something but put in tags:
I think Rita's staff IS the gold morpher that she's bent and twisted to her will |

The trailer is the final straw for me. I don't like the Rita's design (although if the Green Ranger theory is true I'll accept it), the logo is way to different and now the suits. Honestly this may end up like Godzilla 1998. |
I'd be okay with the suits if there was a little more evening of the color distribution. They seem to be a bit too generous with the primary color & they need some extra white or silver to dial it back a bit.
Besides that, what else can I say? We knew from the beginning that this was made to appeal to general audiences instead of fans like us. I've seen alot worse done by fans online. This isn't as offensive as people keep making it up to be. Sure, I don't like that they're comparable to Kamen Riders or Iron Man. I'd prefer they be recognized as themselves instead of as similar to other properties. But it could've been worse. Alot worse. I mean, there are folks here that are surprised that the suits even have more of their primary colors than they do black. That shows that these suits have potential to be likable even with the different direction they've taken. |
I wish there was more secondary colors.

Watty, you're good at Photoshop right? I have an idea for the design.
|
Is it bad that this is exactly what I was expecting the suits to look like?
|
I got my EW Magazine the Power Rangers suit photos are on page 42 & 43 full page.

If they were gonna get rid of the belt they should have had the power coin slapped on the chest like the action figures instead of just making them stick out like the gems on the treasure trolls. :lolol

Kinda curious as how Japan is taking this.

I'm actually interested now. (I don't really like the MMPR seasons because they overuse the Zyuranger costumes. Even if they had some reason to use the other sentai costumes for the seasons adapted, I would be more accepting of that team.)

So they're taking it about as well as us. Neat. We're rarely on the same wavelength :lol

So I checked the comments on the link barnstarch posted and here are a few:
"Hmm, it has changed quite a lot I don't know if I can take it in. Why did they decide on this direction..." "They look friggin' strong... " "If Japan had a Sentai version of FIRST, NEXT, or AMAZONZ, I wonder if it will be designed like this? Red Ranger looks like his chest is shining and gives off Iron Man vibes. But what really feels displaced is Tiger Ranger with breasts(laugh)" "I hope they release the 20th anniversary Daizyujin here in Japan as well. I hope they sell Daizyujin again to commemorate the movie." |
I despise these suits. Its everything wrong with american adaptations and destroys any hope of actual fighting in suits.
If these are CG im gonna eat my hat. Why we can just create a american designed spadex suit again is beyond me. |

Do we still not have a date for the movie toy line yet?

Don't love or hate it, but maybe it'll grow on me.

Had a thought: what if the morphers detach and form into the rangers weapons, it feeds into my Rita's staff=gold morpher theory. Also I hope they go with the classic weapons (sword, bow, axe, lance and daggers) instead of the stuff we got in the first movie.... was any reason ever given for that I've always assumed it was budget/time constraints.

Don't know if I ever chimed in on the suits here, but I think they look like the Voltron the Third Dimension costumes.

Usually, BoA does their big "next year" Power Rangers roll-out right after Thanksgiving. |
I think the suits look are alright. Red and Pink Ranger look the best, but I don't like how Black, Blue, and Yellow Rangers' helmet turned out.

I do have to agree with Jeremy Jahns on the video with some of the stuff that he pointed out. |

Power Rangers will have all these sharing shelf space:
1. Movie Products (action figures, Megazord, props) 2. Ninja Steel (action figures, Megazord, props) 3. Legacy (Blaster, Falconzord, Ninja Megazord) 4. Mega Collection (Megazord, props) 5. Super Dino Charge leftovers 1. & 2. will be what we find most places and will probably take up some decent real estate and an end-cap. 3. & 4. will be Toys R Us centric. Considering they usually give a few weeks space up front along a wall to featured product, I think they'll be plenty of room for all four there. Transformers had AoE, Generations and Masterpiece. The only one that suffered was the Masterpiece figures but that's because scalpers were buying the crap out of MP Grimlock to resell and that would have happened at anytime of the year. 5. will be everywhere but in limited quantity at that point. Whether it has shelf space is up to the retailer and how frequently they clear out product. |
Not bad... I think sometimes different is a good thing. I guess we'll find out.
