I'm not trying to shit on the movie because it's the in thing to do. I'm not going to judge this book by it's cover when it actually comes out. But so far, all the back of the book blurbs aren't giving me any hope. |
The only way to solve this is by painting this other mecha t-rex red and sell it
http://www.sideshowtoy.com/wp-conten...oduct-silo.png Again I am waiting for a better quality version on par with the legacy line to show up, meaning a slightly pricier rendition that has more details |

The first didn't receive any real hate outside of Geewunners until the second came out and trashing the movies became the popular thing to do. Dark of the Moon's biggest problem was being a bit overbloated. It had a really nice, dark atmosphere to it, and the Chicago invasion was a genuinely chilling sequence. There were some great fight scenes, some really cool designs, and while the humor was still hit or miss, it had some good moments. Age of Extinction was a huge step in the right direction. Marky Mark was a perfect casting choice, this is him doing what he does best and the humor really worked with him in this (the whole exchange after they escape from Lockdown's ship was hilarious). The bots had really distinct and well performed personalities, John Goodman was a perfect Hound. Again, we got some great fights or action scenes. Moments like Ratchet's execution were suitably brutal. The dinobots were a bit underutilized, but it was still nice seeing them. Again, the first movie was a very solid film overall. Few things compare to seeing Blackout transforming on screen for the very first time or the Autobots assembling and transforming for the first time, that still gives me chills. Revenge of the Fallen, I disagree with a lot of the complaints, stuff like the twins for instance (remember when our first reaction to seeing their leaked designs was "inbred rednecks" and not "black stereotypes"?). Some interesting ideas were adapted and given a cool new take, such as the seekers, Jetfire's origin, the Fallen. And Devastator was an absolute spectacle in IMAX. But I do agree that overall it was the weakest film in the series. |
All in all I'm still looking forward to the movie.
I think what I'm not liking about the toy is the sheer amount of molded detailing. It's all a solid red, and the waveyness clashes together to mess with my eyes. More color on it would make it look a lot better. I just noticed that the BBTS page mentions that the megazord it's a part of is 24" tall, which will be interesting. My major complaint with AoE was just how long it was. It's ending, then it's not, and again and again. I just got bored after a while. |

They are really, really bad movies. I don't hate them personally, but even I won't delude myself into thinking they aren't just terribly made, terribly written, terribly everything'd films. |

And regarding ROTF most of the hate for that movie didn't come from Geewunners but people who hated the human protagonists getting the lion's share of the screen-time over the Bots with a generic teen romance plot, the racist stereotypes and the toilet humor and AOE also got a lot of hate for it's plot's edginess. |
The BBTS listing has absolutely sold me on the t-rex zord. It won't be cheap, but the Megazord sounds like it'll be worth completing. Especially with it having electronics and being two feet tall when combined. Should be interesting to see how the rest of the DX zords turn out.

TBH, while I do get why some people hate the design, I like it, and I'm definitely going to be picking these up.

The same old shit over and over again isn't good to me. It's boring, and uninteresting. At least if the movie was halfway unique it could still suck and it'd at least have accomplished something. But even if it's 'good' it could easily go unremembered for being so bland and uncreative. |

Let's be honest. This is a reboot, and un-originality kind of inherently comes with the entire concept, so I'm not sure what you expected from this. Although maybe the fact that what we're seeing is fulfilling your unenthusiastic expectation is entirely part of the problem you have with it. Which is fair. I don't feel the same way, though. I'm pretty optimistic so far. |

So far, this is almost everything I expected (more like feared) and nothing I actually hoped for or wanted to see. |

Profit is all that matters, and every company will make sure to keep doing what makes money first, and that means they'll reuse and recycle whatever is popular until it's not popular. Originality is pretty much the only thing we can hold on to, because good movies will always come out using the tried and true methods, so you never have to worry about a lack of quality content. But when a movie strides for the middle, that's when they hit that perfect level of mediocrity. Suicide Squad, Age of Ultron, Ghostbusters, the TF movies, Amazing Spider-Man 2, whatever and whatever. Power Rangers is making a hard dive to hit that line, going off what info we can gather. |

But I really don't think un-originality is essentially a terrible thing. It can be for sure, but not always. |
So... What exactly does the morpher do? The switch, I thought, closed the centre like an aperture, but the picture with the switch in motion doesn't show anything else different.

Remind's me Kamen Rider Ichigo and Nigo's drivers.

And that's pretty lame to me. It's like Agito meets Skyrider and OOOs. |

I'm not too enthused about the spinning coin thing. I was hoping it would do something with a little more flare.

The thing about this T-Rex toy which I don't understand is that I can't see a single transformation joint on the entire figure. Where and how does this thing integrate into the Megazord? I'm just not able to visualize it being part of a larger robot.

What do you think? |

Like his brain pulls overtime hardcore, tryign to come up with something "Ugh...guh... do... not like... must... insult... brain, must.... POOP! IT LOOKS LIKE POOP!!" He blurts out, smoke coming from his ears. Like I don't like the thing myself, but at least I try and describe my dislike for it better than an infant can. Quote:
Much like how Kamen Rider belts are constantly trying to become more interactive (for better or worse) I'd like to think this would continue the trend and actually do something worthwhile. |

I assume the people who made this particular toy looked into those for inspiration somewhat. As long as this is not on par with the prices of typical sentai role play toys I would say it gets the job done from the looks of it so far. The lever sticks out like a sore thumb but that's just me. |
I think I've narrowed down the problems I have here. One: I still don't know what the Head, arms, and tail do. My worst fear right now is *spits* partsforming. Two: I wish the Ranger fig' had a real cockpit instead of sitting in the mouth.

So I was at London comic con and got a close up of the zord and got a glimpse of the megazord head.

I hate modern Sentai mecha that just breat apart and call it "transforming." A little bit here and there is understable. A tail that detaches to be a weapon, a helmet that comes out from under a zord for the Megazord. But I really hope that, at most, the tail comes off and that's it. |

*edit: nevermind, I found another picture with a better angle and it appears as though the helmet has a silver front with red sides. Hopefully we'll see more paint by the final release.

I'm pretty sure we're seeing the top of the helmet in that pic.

But the morpher is boring both visually and in function. Just a little extra spice is all I ask for so it's not totally devoid of identity. Something that moves, like if the apeture could open and close. Simple is good most of the time, but this is too simple. Quote:
It'd like to think we've, yknow, progressed with progress, not regressed. |

We heard that the "Stomp and Chomp Grimlock" was a pretty well received toy. So we decided to just make it again. All we have to do is switch out the Optimus for a Red Ranger and no one will ever notice. Brilliant!
I get that the PR Movie wants to be more 'realistic' than the campiness of the TV shows and their zords that look like toys. Transformers wanted to do the same when they started making movies. But this T-Rex looks like something straight out of a Transformers 5: Age of Power Rangers. http://i.imgur.com/i7fh69W.jpg |
