The male Rangers are empathized for the same reason as the male Avengers and Power Rangers are in the West because on average boys want boy toys.

Hmmm..... I'm literally quite excited with this Kyuranger. Both their suit ad mecha designs are actually quite decent. The helmet in the ranger suit kinda obstructing the whole suit while the orbs in the Kyurenoh really mess everything's up. At least, the mecha wasn't as blocky and lackluster than Zyuohger. But, this is the point where I'm quite worried. I mean while most people say Kyuranger has overall good designs in most of the aspects, I'm quite worried how will the story go on. Despite many people lash out at Zyuohger, I really love it, more than even Ninninger or even Toqger to say. I mean good design doesn't really mean good stories. I'm going to wait for further scans and trailers before I fully decide.

I think Toei really needs someone who CAN write stories this time. I mean handling the plot where there's ton of Rangers isn't simple and we already HAVE 9 members in the first quarter for God's sake! Who knows what we will get later in the next quarters. Sorry guys, but I'm kinda negative in seeing Kyuranger since multi-members Sentai like this usually get ruined later, especially like Kyoryuger due to red-centric. I'm getting a feeling that we might get the same here.... I just hope that the Red ranger will be like Right or Yamato since those two are a more likable Red ranger, right?

I'm also really intrigued to how they will handle the next toys? Will there be more Rangers? More support Mechas? An upgrades? Seeing that Kyuranger already crammed most of the Rangers and collectibles in the first quarter, I think they will add more support Mecha and one extra ranger like our usual tradition. I hope we will also get an equal upgrade for the teams, or at least a changeable upgrades later, like Hyper Toqger.

On final note, I think we must reduce our hype a little. Not to be offensive, but recently, when we got a compromising design either for Super Sentai or Kamen Rider, we will end up disappointed later. Instead, a bad or decent design Sentai or Rider usually really shine in the story, like Zyuohger and recently Ex-Aid. Not to scare you guys, but I don't really want to hear that someone is praising the design a lot but later ends up lashing and cursing the Sentai later.

And on the other side, female centric brands place the female characters in the forefront.

So basically: sexism, or sexism under the guise of that classic "demographic" excuse.

Or maybe we can all drop the overly PC mentality and just acknowledge that different genders actually do have different interests? Having a prodominently male cast does not make a show sexist any more than a prodominently white cast makes a show racist.

You seem to be under the mindset that the cast line up dictates who will watch it, and not who watches it that dictates the cast.

I would love more female rangers, personally. But it is what it is. People need to stop pulling the social injustice card when anything gender-related pops up.

Sorry if it was already mentioned (also sorry for using the PR terms, its easier for me), but how do the auxiliary zords we see come into play with the main 5 zords? Does that eagle become wings for the main 5 zord megazord? And what about those 2 humanoid ones, how do they combine with the other zords, do we know?

Also, I too am a bit dissapointed that these are once again ultra sylized animals. They look a lot like the ones on Geki Atsu dio with minimal transformation for megazord mode.

It's a little hard to notice, but in one of the images it's shown that all four auxillary mecha/zords have the ability to become a replacement arm or leg. While I am a little dissapointed to see them be limb swaps, I do like that they have the ability to replace either an arm or a leg, rather than only being able to take the place of only an arm or only a leg. Gives you more options.

edit:It's the seventh image, right at the bottom towards the right corner. Shows one combination of the lion mecha with the eagle and scorpion as arms and the humanoids as the legs, and another combination with the humanoids as the arms and the eagle and scorpion as the legs.

Awesome suit designs on the team, and the mecha for this season looks really cool. I loved the constellation theme for the Zodiarts back in Fourze, so this is tickling my fancy. Hell, I may go out of my way to try and pick up the DX mecha and even some figuarts of the team, I like them that much.

Bad enough we get sooooo much whining for female riders solely so there is a female rider on the show. I'm all for stuff like Marika back in Gaim, it didn't feel forced or like they did it just to have a girl rider, and it worked.

Which probably means that the first zord in the next catalogue will probably be some kind of second torso. Would allow all nine to be "relevant" in a battle. Which has me really excited for mid-battle limb swapping.

The continued prevalence of shows with a predominantly white cast, outside of examples such as period drama, is arguably racist; and just as outdated a concept as society's insistence on marketing different toys/shows to boys and girls.

The difference in preference between genders is present, but likely only because of societal factors, with studies suggesting that young boys and girls enjoy a spectrum of toys when presented without prejudice by their parents.

The sad thing is, a Sentai where female members outnumbered male would probably perform worse, but only for the above reason. Hell, I never watched The Little Mermaid as a child for the simple reason that, with a female character front and centre on the video box, I surmised that it wasn't FOR me...

Would the number of females going up be cool? Sure, but I don't see the outrage over magical girl shows not having any male heroes. As a person of color there are things that I get all SJW about, but I just can't here. The demographics are there and they matter. Shows marketed for boys and girls do different things. It's a fact. Are there boys that enjoy girl centric shows and vice versa? Absolutely, but I don't think it's smart business to cater to the small number of people.

America would probably try to find that balance because things here are different. I think it's unrealistic to expect that from Japan though. I think the more important thing here isn't the number of females, but females taking over previously male dominated tropes. Things like suit colors and mecha designations. Like yellow, silver, and blue before it; green is the new hotness for women. Also, pink having an eagle next year and blue having a shark this year. We could have 5 women in kyuranger, but if they are only "girl colors" or pilot "softer, girl zords" what was really accomplished?

...Or you know most young boys identify with and want to be the male heroes.

Plus there is literally decades of market research to support that with young boys male toys sell better.

I feel that my post has been a little misinterpreted; an established gender divide definitely exists in toys/shows/media - I just felt it worth pointing out that it's most likely learned rather than innate, with most media pandering to it because bucking said trend presents too much potential financial risk in an already artificially-biased market.

Sentai and Rider focus on marketing to boys for the same reason they have off-set airing schedules. Money.

They want to cast their net as effectively as possible, and demographic based marketing is one of the tried and true methods of doing so. By having multiple products tailored to appeal strongly to specific markets, they can bring in more profits than if they tried a more generalist approach with their products.

It applies to age, income, location and, yes, gender, because all of these affect how people spend their money.

Note, demographics are DESCRIPTIVE, not PRESCRIPTIVE. They describe the population as it IS, not as what they think it SHOULD be. Of course just because you fall into a certain demographic does not mean you will behave exactly the same, just that most of those in that demographic DO behave similarly.

As far as I'm concerned, you can only shape this so much and most companies selling to kids know this, Child Psychology is a massive part of making media for children because you need to understand how kids work and as an adult we too often think of kids as tiny adults in reason and comprehension or worse, go "well my child is an X and does Y instead of Z so the idea X likes Z is flawed."

Really, just go for offering the Best toys in the realm of long, imaginative play and take it from there. Skip static one-trick toys that don't encourage character play. DC Super Hero Girls Bumblebee and Transformers RID2 Bumblebee? That's the kind of toy a kid needs. Something to give a character to and play adventures with.

Anyway all this Boys Brands/Girls Brands junk aside, I'm still liking what I see. Green Girl Ranger looks fun, Mecha are interesting, I'm curious to see where they go.

Look I have a niece my parents and my sister did buy her boy toys of the male heroes she liked*Batman and Flash* but you know who her favorite super hero and villain was? Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn. The toys she wanted? Monster High dolls and before that Disney Princess stuff. The stuff she watched on TV? Disney,Monster High and Justice League.

So I kind of have a hard time believing the genders having different tastes and gravitating towards characters their own gender to be an entirely learned concept manipulated by society narrative.

Maybe not a tenth ranger but there is always room for a Ninjaman or Signalman-esque hero.

If they did get a tenth ranger they'd have to change the name to Juranger. : P

The whole boys/girls toys thing is so complex and fascinating. Nature and nurture play equal and inextricable roles, and finding where the lines are drawn is so interesting. Kids are amazing, y'all. Lol

I just find these "stop being PC, girls and boys like different things, get over it, end of story" arguments so... lacking in imagination. So many people stop there, and fail to ask questions like "is that actually true?" or "why do they like different things?" or "is it good or bad that they like different things?" or "can we change things to make it so our kids are raised healthier?"

It's like, because those questions don't interest or concern them, the people who are concerned and interested in them should just shut up and keep it to themselves.

If you're content with an uneven distribution of boys and girls, fine. But why get annoyed with people who aren't content?

Sadly the Sentai Figuarts line is dead. So I doubt there be any figuarts of Kyuranger.

Since we never got any Figuarts of Zyuohger I don't expect to see any future Sentai team get Figuarts ever.

At least as far as I can see Black has some latex on there, kind of like the Akibaranger suits. At the very least it looks like those suits, which I liked, well, Akiba Red, I'm not one for the fetish stuff on the girls, even if I was into that specific stuff.

Yeah, looks like there's some added elements on top of traditional spandex but, these images are way too rough to tell for sure.
