I got this as second-hand info though, and haven't been able to verify it myself yet. |

During one of the training sequences a scorpion crawls out from under a rock and is prominently seen on screen. No one mentions it, but it's hard to miss. Any chance that it's an intentional nod to Scorpina?

I honestly think it was just supposed to be a scorpion XD good thinking though

Even if a future redesign happens (and I'm sure it will for toy sales) I really hope it at least pretends to have a transformation scheme. |

Expecting the Dragonzord for the next film isn't too outlandish.
So, with the upcoming Dragonzord, how do you expect the Megazord will change? Zyutei style, where the Dragonzord becomes shoulder pads, Battle Mode, where the Tyrannosaurus is left out, or a complete redesign to allow all 6 to combine in a new manner? I ask because, while the last one makes the most sense from a sales perspective, it's not so much from a buyer's outlook, as they just dropped $100+ for these zords (Well, $60 if you got them on discount a month after release). Additionally, the first two methods can work with the original Megazord, either clipping on (I'm sure with all the partsforming on Tyranno, they could engineer a method to secure the Dragon), or, if going Battle Mode, just nix the Tyranno altogether. |

tommy being a girl would be stupid, they have a female green ranger (rita) that can be made into a figure now they need to make a male one . and i'd pretty much pass if they made tommy a girl , this movie had two yellow rangers and both were female could of easily made the first one a male as a nod but nope just was like screw it,
anyways back to tommy , wouldnt it be cool if the reason they jdf and amy jo johnson had that cameo at the end of the movie, is cause they are the films parents of tommy , i mean he was a new student and they did appear at the end tho i guess it showed more people but could work just saying. |

Two yellow Rangers being girls and there still being the Zyuranger nod but not the one you wanted means they HAVE to have a male and female green Ranger in this continuity? What? Though I saw suggestions of JDF being a parent and a mentor figure for the new Tommy before, neat Dino Thunder reference according to some friends |

There's nothing gained by making Tommy a girl and not just bringing in a new character or a previous unused female Ranger to be the new sixth. Plus, it's kind of disrespectful to teh original character. And yes, people like the original character, he's one of the most if not the most popular Ranger ever. "But Split!" I hear people reeeeee-ing in the distance "How would genderbending Tommy be disrespect? There's nothing wrong with being a girl!" You're right, but there's nothing wrong with being a guy, either. If the character's gender doesn't matter, well there's no point in swapping it now is there? Plus, it's not exactly being equal if you have to swap the gender of a pre-established male character just for more female prominence. If you're going to use Tommy, use Tommy, not a totally new character with the same name. I mean, people would've went berserk if they didn't have a black (as in African American) ranger, or if Trini was made male. Because, w-w-w-well, that's not being all-inclusive! And that's really the crux of it: it'd just be a gimmick, doing nothing to strengthen the character, and just there for out-of-narrative reasons. It's like when movies pander to the Chinese market. What, you're gonna try and say the Chinese don't deserve to be represented? Of course you're not saying that. Or what about when they replaced Rocky with Justin to appeal to kids? My vote: Keep green Tommy a dude, introduce new girl charatcer (or someone like Kat) and surprise us by making her the White Ranger. Powers get swapped all the time, and Tommy himself has had five different suits, so it's hardly incongruious for a ranger to be a colour they weren't before, plus it would make things more equal and be a clever way of adding to the cast without swapping out actors/characters like in MMPR. (since there's really no good reason to rotate out the cast this time) Or, have Tommy start Green, then lose/pass his powers onto a girl, and he becomes white, and we have a team of seven Rangers. My point is: for all the talk of the genders needing to be equal, and they should be, making it a gimmick out of it seems insincere and pandering. It's like dividing up cookies between two children. You spend more time making sure both parties are happy than you do actually adapting the source material. |
You wanna know what could've been neat? If Goldar was the corrupted Dragonzord. I know in the show his face was more canine like, sphinx and all that, but I think with the wildly alien looks they went for, his face could've probably been reptile like while still retaining some canine characteristics because he was corrupted or something.

It could've worked. Shame. Anyway, speaking of gold, do you guys think the other rangers will have special powers? Rita was basically water bending gold, but the coins did manage to super heat a metal bar, so do you think the gold control is something specific to Rita, or that all the Rangers have additional powers, but because they're not innate (Strength, durability, speed), they just don't know how to use them? |
Saw the movie with a friend of mine, and I absolutely love it. I wouldn't change a single thing about it. Hell, I'd go as far as to say that this is easily the best thing to come out of the franchise. I will always have a nostalgic love for the show, but this tops anything the show has ever done imho. It'll be tragi if this doesn't get multiple sequels.

So the version of the power rangers theme song that plays when the Zords first launch I could be wrong, but it sounds an awful lot like the one from the 95 movie.

I was kinda hoping for the TV version, just because it rocks more, but eh. I'll take it over one of the modern iterations.

Speaking of the yellow Ranger, I just realized something: Trini mentions to her parents that she found an alien spaceship and is probably a super hero - her mother even presumably does a urine test and (probably) discovers that her daughter wasn't on drugs when making this claim, and her brothers seem to flat out believe her immediately. This is mere DAYS before the entire town is attacked by alien monsters and is saved by superheroes piloting an alien robot.
Don't you think Trini's family (at least her dad?) would suspect that she might be one of the Rangers? I know her mom seems kind of crazy, but still. Do they just think that it's only one hell of a coincidence that she brings up aliens and super heroes a whole week before they're suddenly public icons? |
reason the 95 movie was used is due to that the only version saban brands own the right to as another company now ownm all of saban entertainments music

That opening sequence was phenomenal and exactly what I wanted to see.
My only real lingering problems are still a distaste for the Megazord and Goldar's appearance. Seeing them in action didn't do anything at all to improve my thoughts on those. But that aside, I really did end up enjoying this movie a heck of a lot more than I expected to going in. It was just fun. |

Zedd is the result of what happens when someone tries to gain access to the morphing grid without a coin. His skin and face boiled away, forcing him to wear the mask to hide his disfigurements and make use of the various tubes to keep him alive.
They pull a Joker and Harley situation, where Rita eventually sympathizes with him before joining his side, causing her to betray the rangers and go psycho in an attempt to get the Zeo Crystal, simply to please him. Zedd's staff houses a fragment of a Zeo Crystal from another world, which allows him the ability to grant life (At a much smaller scale than an entire crystal would allow), which is how he creates his own personal super zord, Serpentera. |

Anyways, saw the movie yesterday finally, really really enjoyed it. It had some nice references, well written and interesting characters, a few really good performances, a great villain, it was just a lot of fun. It did a great job of "maturing" the series in a way that was honest and not insulting. It handled things like Billy's autism and Trini's lesbianism incredibly well (they felt more natural, less shoe-horned). It was way more of a character driven story, which was a very nice change of pace. |

From what I've read though they turned Jason into kind of a jerk not sure if I like that. |
Jason isn't really a jerk.
He's a teenager with attitude. |

So wasn't that much of a fan in Forever Red.:lol |
He's still like that. He's portrayed as popular but approachable.
He's just not a goody good that spends his spare time planting trees while planning for peace sittings and bake sales anymore :lol |

Not sure why this is such a big issue, anyway since his death wasn't even a permanent one. |

Nevermind whatever minority that they're representing, it's silly to bring issues like that into a nostalgic kids movie like this. |
