Too safe. Seriously, kyouryuger did good, but from the mecha design, motif, gimmicks, colors, etc shout kyouryuger rehash reboot sequel. It's like when Hana Kimi get remade in a few years. This look like something in korea or china will do. Apparently, even those countries are rehashing their historical non accurate wuxia fictions as well. It's the trend worldwide with Hollywood Disney blockbusters from animations to live actions heroes. They even use PRDC sword and copy the arm thing from kyoryuger. I kind of hope it would be heavy armor that changes thing up, but apparently gobusters, lupin, and Hibiki alike tank. All the zords are just accessories like how all the gimmicks can't hide the huge rail code readers anymore, which hinder the designs. Basic story sound like a mash up between zyurNger and kyoryuger. I missed designs like Gaoranger or Magiranger where they can become individual mecha and articulated main robo even without electronics. The stories can still be good as well as the action depending on writers.

So it’s looking like the aesthetic of this show is going to be way different than Kyoryuger, Abaranger, and Zyuranger at least. That’s a major relief.
Ryuusouger appears to be going for a look and vibe that’s a bit more modern and badass. I can dig it. |

The target audience for this series basically wasn't born yet when Kyoryuger came out.

Seriously, apply a little bit of logic when someone tells you something. |
Could Toei reuse dinosaur again in 2020 ?
|
why would they? now you're just being ridiculous

Jurassic park and Godzilla are huge again.
|
There is a big rumor circulating at the moment that Ryusouger might not actually start until MARCH which would be very unusual to say the least.
|
The addition to that rumour is generally a miniseries (or postscript episodes for LP) to fill the gap.

Clear image of the RyuOh scan:

Posting a screencap of the leaker's post once again: https://i.imgur.com/sOgbtMw.jpg Pretty much everything except the battleship bit came to pass. (and even then, maybe there's something in the series itself that could pass as a battleship?) But, either way, yeah, I totally believe this person. In their first post they even mentioned March 17th was the likely start date. |
Thinking about it, wouldn't Ryusoujin or RyusouKing be a better name for the mecha than KishiryuOh? They flow better and are easier to say, especially Ryusoujin.
It's regrettable that Tyramigo is a tyrannosaur, because with that head it could easily pass for another large theropod. Am I right in guessing the transformation from beast to robot is like V-Rex's in Timeranger? It looks that way from the image. |

More clear Ryusouger scans. Last scan shows that Sentai is having a special "Historical Super Sentai participate" in February, thus kinda confirming that leak.
|
Tyramigo also has a fortress mode that could absolutely pass for a battleship.
The scans show that to transform, the user dances with the Ryuusouls. Also mentions promotional videos all throughout the month of February. |
The names of the five Ryusouls the rangers are using are(the one that look like Kyoryuger's armed mode):
Ryusou Red's is the Tsuyosoul, a portmanteau of the phrase "tsuyosou(seems strong)" and soul Ryusou Blue's is the Nobisoul, a portmanteau of the phrase "nobisou(seems stretchy)" and soul Ryusou Pink's is the Omosoul, a portmanteau of the phrase "omosou(seems heavy)" and soul Ryusou Green's is the Hayasoul, a portmanteau of the phrase "hayasou(seems quick)" and soul Ryusou Black's is the Katasoul, a portmanteau of the phrase "katasou(seems solid)" and soul |
I like Pink's stuff. Looks like we may potentially have a strong female. But then watch them counter that with her being a quirky princess or something.
|
After venting my frustrations so much I've finally accepted and actually excited for this. Hope this will.good and you know, fix what Kyoryuger did wrong *cough*Daigo*cough*

I'm not complaining, but I can't see this as but Kyoryuger with just a different theme and collectable, and the dance just cements it. I love Kyoryuger, but my expectations for this are lowered, assuming the series to follow many more themes. Swear, if we got the villains being Deboss, then we could expect how things go immediately before it even starts.
|
The mecha looks amazing. The gimmicks look fun. But if they put another annoying jingle while they dance, I'm out.
|
Given the fact that Kyoryuger proved popular enough to stick around way longer than most recent Sentai in terms of spin-offs and specials, not surprised that the next dino Sentai may be taking some elements from it.
I adored Kyoryuger so I'm looking forward to it. |
Tyramigo looks cool. The rest are just unimpressive blocks (the heads notwithstanding) except for TigerLance. Why couldn't the other Kishiryu get legs that could stretch out?

I've realized that both Toei and Marvel/DC have the same problem with their superhero media, that being overuse of comedy. The difference is Toei's shows overdo the "wacky cartoon hijinks" and "cutesy idols" route, while American superheroes are stuck on "juvenile banter" and "use sex appeal to make you buy the strong female narrative"* *Not that the ones who complain about the last part do any better a job with their product. |
Funnily enough the thing I'm most excited for is the end dance to be back. Presumably atleast, it's only been a year but I miss the SING AND DANCE WITH US AFTER THE COMMERICIALS from Zyuoh and Go-Busters
|
I have feeling the Ryusou Red will be similar to Daigo or Keiichiro...

Sounds promising, and like they're prepping for anniversaries.
Do gotta love the timing though. as well as how it gently starts nudging the start dates forward. Also, seeing those designs clearer. Absolutely love them! This sentai makes me really excited for what it's going to do. |
Thoughts about the clearer toy scans:
So the collectible is the dino-head/knight. At a minimum, it looks like it's the transformation widget (the main ones,) forms the Armed-On-like power-up (the auxiliary ones,) and the head/face for each mecha configuration. Looks relatively cheap, reminiscent of Ranger Keys. Probably not spring-loaded. I'm guessing they're trying to keep the price point down? It looks like each of the five initial mecha can form a unique combination, changing the head and chest of the mecha. It'd be fair to expect lots of auxiliary mecha for even more combinations; I'm surprised we don't get a hint of that with the auxiliary widgets. The knight forms of these collectible bricks are likely, story-wise, to be the souls of previous dragon-knights. Looking more closely at the red mecha I can see the battleship part of the concept with the various turrets and attachments. It looks like we're getting a combined tank form that doesn't look awful; I wonder if it can incorporate green and black without looking stupid. As a whole, they all look less ridiculous to me than I'm used to from modern Sentai mecha. Looks like standard for Sentai: little transformation in favor of parts-swapping, but integrated better than usual. Reminds me of some of the better design points of Go-Busters. The Lego-like connectors look way better than they have any right to, and looking over just what we can see here, it seems like there are a gazillion potential combinations because each of the mecha have a lot going on, and red comes with drills and turrets that can attach in a variety of ways. Only thing I'm not sold on is how the mecha heads will look from any angle other than head-on, since they're just the reverse side of the unfolded the knight-widgets. No electronics in the mecha, which I actually kinda appreciate; the yappiness seems confined to the transformation brace and the sword. We can clearly see that they wear the latter on a hip scabbard, which I find way too exciting; I'm tired of seeing our heroes pull their weapons out of nowhere. (At least Go-Busters had a neat teleportation effect.) I've mostly broken free of my desire to own roleplay items or DX mecha - minipla work just fine for me - but this one is almost tempting because it seems to have a lot of potential as fiddling-friendly desk toy. I may like these better than the past several years of Sentai mecha. Still noticing little design details. Seems like the transformation brace requires both inserting the unfolded widget and - am I seeing this right? - flipping the jaw around so it becomes a knight helmet for the dino? |
