In other unpopular opinion news, I'm coming to the conclusion that Jetman is pretty overrated. It's a good show - probably even a great show - but I can't say that it's clear and away the best, most dark and mature Sentai ever. I'm glad I'm watching it, but it doesn't fully live up to its reputation for me.

Also, I do not like the Space Sheriff shows. I've watched a handful of episodes from Gavan, Sharivan, and Shaider and none of them do anything for me. The action is just okay, the designs are nothing to write home about, and the plots tend to be really loose and sloppy (sometimes even feeling like two or three partial episodes poorly edited into one whole one). Outside of Kenji Ohba, Hiroshi Watari, and some legendarily kickass music, I don't see anything worth watching these shows for.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I'm enjoying Go-Busters, but I seem to hear a lot of people bashing it, and Jin and J are awesome characters.

From what I understand, the only reason the people bashing Go-Busters are bashing it is because of an immense love for Akibaranger diminishing their enjoyment of less fan-wanky series.

Jin and J are pretty awesome too.

kiva is COMPLETELY underrated

I think it's more complaining about the mecha designs and for some people, the mechas are all that matters.

As a person who has always been less interested in the Mech battle aspect of Sentai / Power Rangers , i find Go-Busters mech scenes to be the most interesting ones that i have seen. The show itself is pretty awesome in my opinion.

With the exception of Riderman, I love, and I mean LOVE, every single Showa era Rider design. And even then, Riderman has grown on me since watching Megamax.

In terms of sheer craftsmanship of effects, no one can touch Eiji Tsuburaya. Maybe Keita Amemiya, but even he's more skilled at choreography than actual suits and miniatures. I say this is unpopular because most modern non-kaiju tokusatsu fans tend to not even know who Eiji Tsuburaya is. And if you don't, you're a bad person and you should feel bad.

I refuse to feel bad for not caring about Godzilla or Ultraman in the slightest...Yeah, I googled his name :p

I would agree with this, I mean it's not the best series out there, but I still enjoyed it, and it kept me entertained, and I would recommend it to people to watch.

Plus it had Otoya and Nago, those two alone should be enough to make someone want to see this show.

How is that unpopular? Legends fans (including myself) are just louder because we're treated like Capcom's red head step child. :p

I could care less about anything going on in a Godzilla movie until the monsters show up and start smashing things. The only enjoyable Godzilla movie i have ever seen from beginning to end was Final Wars.

Jet Jaguar deserves a Ultra act / Monster arts figure. As a matter of fact , from this point forward i will support Jet Jaguar like Sentai supports Goseiger.

Showa Godzilla is the best Godzilla. He works so much better as a superhero

Ultra Seven on TNT at 5am around 1993-1994 was 2nd to Power Rangers in my childhood in terms of live action toku related shows.

First of all, if you ever meet Jared Foust, don't tell him that.

Second, have you seen the original Mothra vs. Godzilla? Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla? Mothra especially is a lot of fun.

He was a bad guy for the first four movies in the Showa period, so you're wrong on two levels.

-Clusterbutter zords are the best parts of Sentai. The more ridiculous-looking, the better. To me, that exemplifies all of the Sentai's ability coming together in one blow. It's far better than the usual, "Oh, this new guy just kinda clips to the back of our mech... and you have to leave three of the five original zords off to the side... where they do nothing". That's why I love Gobusters' zords.
-Pretty boy Riders > Manly Riders (I know, I know, it's called Kamen Rider for a reason, but still.)
-Gokaiger is boring, the characters are bland, and don't even get me started on the mecha.
-Tsurugi should have been the main character of Kabuto, screw KaGAAAmi.
-RPM is one of the only Power Rangers series that's actually palatable.
-The original Power Rangers are probably one of the most overrated bits of hype to ever come out of the 90's.
-IXAcise is probably the best thing Nago had to contribute to Kiva.

Also, all Voltron style mecha are poorly designed and they shouldn't waste stock footage on it's combination sequence.

Can we include toys here? Because seriously, Figuarts and SRCs and all those are awesome, but vinyls are just as awesome, but for different reasons. They're more affordable (when they come out, at least), and far, far more durable. There's very little things in life more satisfying than being able to chuck Showa Mechagodzilla against a wall and have him come away with not so much as a scratch.

2/3? That whole show was pretty damn good. The back and forth from the past and present coupled with Wataru evolving into a stronger character made that show great. The final episode is one of my favorites in rider history.

Kiva Emperor is one of the few final forms that looks good and actually makes sense as a progression of the original design.

The reason a lot of people were bashing on it was because it wasn't Gokaiger. A lot of people loved Gokaiger so they felt anything after it wasn't going to be able to live up to it. Some purely because of the supposed Sentai rule every 2nd Sentai series is going to be bad (Go-Buster, Goseiger, Go-Onger, Boukenger, etc...)

With Go-Buster specifically, a lot of people were thrown off by the use of "It's Morphin' Time". They were afraid Sentai was going to turn into Power Rangers, and they instinctively hated it. As the series went on, most people realized it wasn't as bad as they thought, but a lot of people just couldn't get over the negative image they had created based on a few bits of information here and there.

Once Otoya became far more serious, the love triangle formed, and Wataru became a dick, it just wasn't as good as earlier.
To be fair, a lot of people thought Gokaiger was good...
Expecting them to be rational was thrown out the window a long time ago.

Wataru is the worst main Kamen Rider ever. People get all up in Ryotaro's grill for being whiny, but he manned up way more than Wataru ever did, willingly going into fights he knew he was outclassed in. Every time Wataru faced a major issue he'd go and be emo in the bathtub. At least until things went really bad. Then he just got so emo he decided to go back in time and abort himself. He was whiny, he was weak, and he was easily the worst character to ever headline a Kamen Rider series.

I'm saying that trying to argue against Tsuburaya's cultural relevance is like arguing against fire being hot. The man pioneered special effects techniques that would inspire generations upon generations of writers, artists, and filmmakers. He had a direct hand in designing a giant monster that wound up being as iconic as Superman. He made tokusatsu (Japanese tokusatsu at the very least) what it is today. It's because of his work, not Toei's, that the use of guys in suits is a respected tradition to this day. Ninja Turtles ain't got shit to do with it.

Also, I would never use Krang to argue anything because Krang sucks. :p
