Rumor is Kirameiger might be a gem themed Sentai, take this with a grain of salt at the moment.

If the rumor is true, Kirameiger will be really similar to Goggle V and Kamen Rider Wizard.

If the gem stuff turns out to be legit I can see the gemstones being the collectibles for the year, mythical creatures galore, and a good vs evil where the two sides clash to see who gets them all. Basically a more fantasy-oriented Sazer X with hints of Dairanger and Gaoranger seems possible.

A ancient civilizations-themed would fit well with gem stuff. At least wasn't demon this time.

One rumor I've seen had Kobayashi coming back as the writer for Kirameiger. I'd be very excited for that. Love her work in Rider, and I've heard good things about her sentai writing as well

In my opinion, Kobayashi's best work is Timeranger. :D

I've heard a lot of people say that, which is impressive given how beloved Ryuki, Den-O and OOO are. I fully intend to watch it at some point. I haven't watched much sentai though, just the first 15 or so episodes of Kyuranger and the first episode of LuPat. I figure having watched a lot of Power Rangers over the years, it hopefully shouldn't be too hard to get in to

OOO is my pick -- it actually might just be my favourite piece of media ever. It does so, so much for me I can't put into words.

But then it's hardly like she's slouching around otherwise! Go-Busters, Toqger, Shinkenger and Den-O were all wonderful. Gotta get around to Timeranger and Gingaman one day...

I hope that is true, haven't seen her in toku since OOO with her being busy with Attack On Titan and JoJo mostly it seems. Now the question remains, does she bring back her most claim to fame trope THE RED RANGER IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THE RED RANGER. She didnt use it in ToQger so that I am interested to see.

I believe a lot people is upset because this time is not a demon-themed sentai.

If the SmilePhone thing is true I guess there will be a chance we finally get a team where the main roster all uses smartphones to suit up and do other super sentai stuff.

If this rumor is true and Kobayashi is writing it, then it's a big plus for me. I always felt her writing adds a bit more weight to the characters and not have them be the happy go lucky gang like it was recently in Ryusoulger.

They should hire new writers for these than reuse old ones.

I'd agree even as a huge Kobayashi fan because Sentai and Rider is great for getting in new blood in all areas of the creative team, actors included... but, well, that's just the thing. Sentai and Rider have not been short on new writers for a good while now, so I certainly don't mind seeing a well-cherished and beloved writer coming back every once in a while. I think they've got a good balance between bringing in new creatives most of the time and bringing back old creatives occasionally.

Yeah, why not. Worked for Build so I am open to that idea as long as it is someone who has experience writing but just new to tokusatsu.

So here is a thought. Next year is the Olympics in Tokyo, and I have a feeling we will be getting the Olympics palette of RED-BLUE-YELLOW-GREEN-BLACK because of the hype and Toei and Bandai Namco keeping up with current trends and whatnot. I do want to see them use the classic Gorenger palette of RED-BLUE-YELLOW-GREEN-PINK with this new team being the first of its era, but I would not be surprised if they went with this. What do y'all think?

Seems quite possible they'll do RED-BLUE-YELLOW-GREEN-BLACK colour scheme, and maybe a WHITE Sixth Ranger to top it off (plus we haven't had a White Sixth in a very long while.

Also worth pointing out:

1988 - Liveman - Olympics were held in South Korea

2008 - Go-Onger - Olympics were held in China

Unless they have a regimen to only do this colour scheme every 20 years, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to capitalize on doing the Red, Blue, Yellow, Green & Black when the Summer Olympics is held in an East Asian Country.

Exactly. If the 2020 Olympics was some other country it probably won't be a big deal and they could do whatever. But since they are hosting it I could not help but think that they will most likely (as you have pointed out) capitalize on the Olympics hype and go with the Olympics palette.

I had to make an account just for some speculation on the name coz everyone's been focused on the first kanji, while the second one is actually based off the old chinese word for Well, so in all likelyhood....magical well, rather than demons?

Why would they go for the Chinese roots rather than the modern Japanese meaning?

Hmm....since Kirameiger is rumored to have gems motif, what if their mecha are humanoid gem mecha and can combine into giant formation just like Ohblocker? I think this will be really interesting. Hmm..last time we have humanoid mecha for 5 members is in Magiranger series.

Either that or they recycle a bit of Shinkenger and have those gemstones have the same gimmicks as origamis. When not in battle they stay as gems or some fancy ornament that said gems are installed, and then they grow big and change shape into mythical beasts or whatnot when in battle.

How about a cross between the Origami and the Voyagers? Some kind of 'standby form' that opens up after you install a gem-trinket? Kinda like the Cube Animals!

The geometric shapes like in Ohranger and Shinkenger will be really interesting. Hmm...the transculent gems also is really good for Rangers and mecha designs.


The trinkets probably will be similar to Ohranger crystal of Wizard Rings....
