Awesome suits? Check
Awesome mecha? Check Awesome changer? Check Awesome production crew? Check If this doesn’t end up being a show we talk about years down the road I’d be surprised and disappointed. I’m so hype for this. |

- The Kirameigers are chosen by their respective Kirameistones. - Article confirms Mashin is the official terminology for their vehicles. Red's Mashin is a fire engine, Yellow an excavator, Green a supercar, Blue a jet, and Pink a helicopter. - The Mashins all have a will of their own, and the article emphasizes that the comical banter between the Mashins and their respective partnered Kirameigers will also be something to look for in the show. Reading the article I can't find anything that mentions the name Yodon though. It just says "a legion of darkness". That Yodon part is incorrect. Aside from that, the stuff about the bad guys' motive and the motif for the Kirameigers are correct. |
I pretty much just registered so I could say... this all looks hella cool.

Will the villain side have a human female this time? I miss those types.

So sorta off track from this post but it seems Episode 0 will pretty much be the movie that sets up everything before the show starts in March. |

As for "worrying about it" I just don't want it to become TKR. Plato and Trek we're especially annoying. Still though, I have high hopes for this Sentai. I haven't enjoyed one completely since Boukenger. |
I shall remain cautiously optimistic.

Awwww hell yeah, this means Red won't be hogging the spotlight often (though I would argue that Koh doesn't really hog the spotlight even if he was given all the powerups first).
Also it's still early, but considering the theme of the show is shiny, we're gonna get Gold/Silver as the 6th again huh? Maybe pull off a Go-on Wings, or Zyuoh the World. I personally would like to see another White 6th. |
More info on the mashins according to the Toei site.
- Kirama Red's fire engine is gigantic and has a lot of power, and its ladder can also be used for rescue purposes. - Kirama Yellow's excavator has a strong shovel arm that can even hurl bombs at superspeeds. - Kirama Green's supercar can go at staggering speeds by switching its turbo on. - Kirama Blue's jet can use its main wings as cutters and round up all of its enemies with them. - Kirama Pink's helicopter can use its propellers to rebound enemy attacks. Here's Toei producer Hideaki Tsukada's statement about Kiramager. From past to present all over the world, fun stories always have "gems" appear in it. An adventure involving ancient artifacts, treasure chests in pirate ships, infinite stones all over space... These "shiny and sparkling things" that have crystallized by heat and pressure deep underground have always fascinated us. In this title, we are attempting as part of the 44th Super Sentai show to utilize these gems for the first time ever as they change into children's favorite "playthings". Gems x Vehicles = Mashins. Our heroes will engage in an adrenaline-fueled adventure as they share a bond with these Mashins. Why is it that gems shine? It's because light reflects off of it in intricate ways. Super Sentai incomparably has many faces. Human drama, life-sized action, special effects involving machines and robots, a world view with a sense of wonder, and a cast of fresh faces. By taking in various rays of light with these various aspects a sentai team shines as a sentai team. And from it all Mashin Sentai Kiramager aims to be "the most sparkling super sentai ever". Please look forward to it! |
I don't know why, but I am very hopeful for this Sentai!
I've been in something of a funk for awhile; a combination of circumstances! Given what I've seen, I'm hoping for something interesting. I don't mean to rag on RyuSoulger, but it just isn't reigniting the spark. The way this is being made-up, it's almost like a "Steven Universe Meets Super Sentai" kinda Sentai! The aspect of Jewels in a Sentai was first broached with Goggle V while Flashman had Prisms and Crystals. Turboranger was the first real Sentai where near-realistic looking cars were a thing, with Carranger and GoGo V carrying it forward. A "Light VS. Darkness" theme was last tackled with ToQger, and most Sentai since Kyoryuger have been trying to capitalize on Kyoryuger's success! There was a lot of speculation as to how this Sentai would look and feel, and yet the reality feels removed from theory. I see this as something Power Rangers and Hasbro will be focusing on heavily, perhaps more so than normal. Knowing Arakawa is the main writer is actually really exciting. I'm more or less neutral on what we're seeing of the designs so far (although, as always, the suits look better and better the nicer photos we get), but given how crazy Ryusoulger's storytelling can be, a veteran like him taking the reins for a year sounds like, I guess "reassuring" is a good word for it? I like his stuff, and I think everyone else generally likes his stuff even if they don't attach a name to it, so between that and the motif that is at once basic and familiar with the vehicles, and fresh and unique with the gems, I have some hopes this show will end up being a real crowd pleaser.

anyone else gets galaxy convoy / cybertron optimus prime vibe from red's vehicle? also the suits still need to grow on me, but now that arakawa confirmed to be the writer, i'm completely on board with this.

How many rangers do you expect to see join the five? 6 or more? And what colors?

As for their vehicle, aquatic would be cool, like a submarine or battleship, although that runs into the problem with aquatic sentai mecha where either it only gets used near water or it has to double as an aircraft. They could also have a train like Lupin/Patren X, or a spaceship! Or maybe they'll break the vehicle theme and have an animal mecha. Someday in a sentai where the core five are split into three and two, I'd love to see a sixth ranger who basically joins the two and makes them a second trio. |

Suit designs are one thing, but Mecha designs are something else!
We know that Kiramager will be predicated on cars and other vehicles, but we've yet to see a true combined Mecha form yet. When I showed a buddy of mine the Kishiryu of RyuSoulger and how they combined, he wasn't feeling it. To him, if I remember right, they looked like cheap plastic slapped together. He also didn't seem all that thrilled with Tyramigo being the main body of most combined forms while also criticizing the fact that CosmoRaptor is just two halves shoved together! He credited the original Mighty Morphin' Megazord (Daizyujin) as looking like a true, solid robot. To paraphrase, each animal had a specific place and helped to contribute to the whole. Sentai Mecha designs are a major part of the toy sales and if the designs aren't solid and playable, then there isn't going to be much interest. Cars don't always illicit interest, but they can be made to work based on how they combined with each other. Granted, the show can still be phenomenal albeit with a crappy toyline! That isn't a bad thing as the show's value can still sway opinions regarding the toys as the toys can echo and represent that aforementioned value. The reverse is also possible: crappy show albeit with a phenomenal toyline! Based on the mindset of the people involved, the minimal plot details as we know them, and the suit designs, I am reasonably convinced that Kiramager the Series has potential, and I could use such a pick-me-up right now. |

Will a diamond be used for a new ranger or a power-up for red?

Personally, I think having Red's machine turn into a robot all on its own can be cool, but only if the other rangers' machines are still decently sized and contribute to the combination (Go-Busters did this well IMO). With Ryusoulger's mecha, I found it really off-putting how two of the core rangers' dinos clearly just didn't matter. But I don't think Kirameiger will have the same problem. The vehicles on the poster all look pretty reasonably close in size, unless it's showing them not in scale with each other. Although they also all look quite simple, so I'm very curious about how they'll actually come together into a mecha. |
Toei's press conference is set for January 16.
https://natalie.mu/eiga/news/362180 If this is anything like the Ryusoulger show, we'll get our first proper meeting of the team and probably the music too. |
Is there any chance to have two more rangers? One good joins and the other stays with the bad guys. What jewels to fit them?
|
Could be cool if they called crystalman.

Some new info on the main 5 Mashins by Toei's Kiramager page. Bit of paraphrasing on my side.
- Mashin Fire is the Red Kiramastone's fire engine form. He can rescue people with his ladder that can extend to very long lengths and can stop the movement of enemies with his powerful water cannon. He has a burning heart (but can be a bit difficult). Voiced by Kenichi Suzumura. -Mashin Shovellow is the Yellow Kiramastone's excavator form. It can scoop and hurl things with its big bucket and with the guidance of the sharpshooter Tametomo/Kirama Yellow it can attack even enemies far away with pinpoint accuracy. Can be a nuisance. Voiced by Mitsuo Iwata. -Mashin Mach is the Green Kiramastone's supercar form. He is confident with going fast and like his partner Sena/Kirama Green uses speed to toy with the enemy, such as surprise attacks. He considers himself a butler of sorts to Sena and addresses her as 'Milady' with his handsome guy-esque voice. Voiced by Kenji Akabane. -Mashin Jetta is the Blue Kiramastone's jet form. He can fly directly towards his destination and slashes his enemies with his sparkling wings. He is the youngest of the five Kiramastones, calls Shiguru/Kirama Blue big brother and does his best to try and be helpful while trying to look good. Voiced by Genki Ohkawa. -Mashin Heliko is the Pink Kiramastone's helicopter form. She has a unique style and sense of things that leads to her phrasing things in a strange way. But she has a strong sense of justice and uses her flight ability to rescue people. Voiced by Yuki Nagaku. |
Do you think the 6th Ranger will be based on ships? Maybe his Mashin will be a battleship.
|
Will we get pics from the toy show? Also, looking at the Road Roller, it looks like it might replace Blue as a hammer, which is kind of what I'd use it for, but also waiting to see what everything does.
|
So Episode Zero was out last weekend in Japanese theaters. I wonder if they are gonna use some of the scenes for flashbacks when the actual show starts.
|
I just hope more rangers than just 6.
They better introduce sea vehicles too. Submarines, boats, battleships even. |
A new leak from a Thailand merchant site on Twitter confirms that the Sixth Ranger will be KirameiSilver and that his changer is called the Shiny Kiramei Changer, with his weapon called the Shiny Breaker.
