Now,if something happened to make the lead writer need to be replaced; I would be estatic. Ghost was an abomination and a crime against kamen rider, the moron who wrote it shouldn't be allowed near kamen rider ever again.

I think neither Rider was addressed at the press conference even though they were in the poster, but I don’t remember if they were leaked or not. EDIT: Horobi was leaked because of the Forceriser being in the toy catalogue, but Jin wasn’t since he didn’t have a designated toy for himself. So technically Jin? Quote:

...ugh. Sorry. It's hard for me not to rant about Ghost because I watched the whole gosh-darned thing and felt like my time had been wasted. (I also understand that some people enjoyed Ghost a lot, and I'm happy for them.) We've been mostly very lucky since Ghost, with Ex-Aid, Build, and Zero-One featuring relatively strong writing. I wish we'd gotten someone with a track record that inspires confidence from more people. I shouldn't feel all gloom-and-doom. Ghost was Fukuda's first crack at Kamen Rider; it's entirely possible he's learned from what didn't work in Ghost. Saber doesn't sound like it'll be loaded down with some of Ghost's concept baggage. Alas, singing Drivers ahoy. Goodbye, Zero-One's slightly more restrained Driver noises. |

I'm surprised that the protagonist is a little older this time. For reference, Naito (Touma) is older than Iijima (Emu) and younger than Inukai (Sento). Since Aruto is 4 years older than Takahashi, there are still no Reiwa Riders younger than me yet. I enjoyed Ghost. However, I think the show was saved by Mouri, while Fukuda was busy making the second worst summer movie I've ever seen. Mouri saved Zi-O as well. I think Saber will be okay as long as it has a good secondary writer. It's the same for Zero One, which I think turned out a lot better than EX-Aid thanks to Kakehi. Writers like Takahashi, Fukuda and Shimoyama are capable of writing good content, but they need help. Blades makes a lot more sense than Blaze for a water elemental Rider. They should really use the dzu kana more for plurals. The protagonist is crazy about books and has a dragon assistant. |
We've been laying a lot of blame for Ghost's mediocrity on Fukuda, but a lot of it had to do with poor overall producing. The producer makes a lot of overall conceptual decisions that the writer has to work with, so it's not all about one or the other being bad. (Personally, I didn't hate Ghost, but it didn't knock my socks off either.)
Do we know who the main producer for Saber is? EDIT: Uh oh... the chief Toei producer appears to be Kazuhiro Takahashi, who also produced Ghost. :( OTOH, he produced Fourze as well, and that's probably my favorite KR series of all time. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

Throw back to Build's announcement. Had Cross-Z on the poster but we had no fucking clue if he'd be called Cross or Claws untill an underwear leak.

I really liked Ghost and Hibiki's movies myself, particularly the latter! I thought they were great bookends for the seasons, with Ghost's nailing its core themes and Hibiki largely being a wonderful little look into the past. Agito's was a fun little jaunt too!

Ah maybe decade show up in movies again if we're dealing with dimensions. Worlds. I'm confused. It's the world they're living in part of the book or they go in the Fanatsy myth historical lore etc like wizard enter a person's inner mind. |

Hibiki's movie barely featured any of the main characters, instead focusing on a bunch of lookalikes who I have no incentive to care about. Agito's movie tried too hard to be connected to the show while being unrelated to the story and it was darker than it needed to be, even for Inoue. I'm glad you enjoyed them though. |

Not to mention the film exploring the history of the Makamou and Oni war. But hey, the film was produced by infamous Shinichiro Shirakura who replaced the head producer for Hibiki and he’s along with Toshiki Inoue are the reason why the second half of Hibiki weren’t good as the first half. |
The whole storybook gimmick really gives super sentai vibes to me, especially the fact that the main riders are colored like how a sentai team usually colored.

I am in love with all of the Saber designs. This show couldnt have come at a better time for me enjoyinh tokusatsu again.

Random thought, I wonder if they'll possibly try to rotate some of the riders in and out over the course of the show like they did in Hibiki.
For instance, we'd focus on the main trio for most of the show, but every now and then another rider like Kenzan or the unnamed 5th one would stop by and hang out with the group for a few episodes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the riders themselves... I actually like most of their designs. A random person on twitter pointed out that the dragon on Saber's shoulder looks a little too much like Guilmon from Digimon, and honestly I can't say the resemblance is unfounded... Blades/Blaze/Blazu looks nice, although the "Black|Blue|Black" color scheme looks plain, same with Espada's "White|White|Yellow" design. Kenzan and the unnamed 5th one look alright, although I'm more excited to see the 5th one in combat. As I can't really recall when was the last time we had a heavy armored sword wielder aside from Kuuga Titan, Gaim Kachidoki, and like Sasword in Masked Form. |
Suprise they didn't region lock the trailer or private it . No need vpn. The worst part is saber all uses swords for the most part and bandai japan is known for better at making guns toys then sword toys. .. That means it'll jin burning falcon slash driver where the prop size prior to transformation matches the show, but immediately after trafirmstion it's the tinest ever. They can't even do a fullf fledge ryusoulken when the crest or head part of the is small as well. The driver is still unrealistic even for the show. I feel like any motw could just accidentally or literally tear them out especially when you uses all 3. Other than that the trailer rock aside from sterotype fashion design. The whole villain group got that same sterotype human villain outfit and smirks with a cold one as the strategist. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o1EGkIX6GeY

Looking at it again it feels like a mix of Ghost, Wizard, Ryusoulger, with a teaspoon of GARO. I am getting makai knight vibes from the suits only less-armored and more vibrant.
|
I wish we had a clear shot of all the riders; I want to see the full designs as it may be the only redeeming thing about this show. However, I expect this to be the biggest turd of reiwa yet, because tohei has this obsession with hiring the worst possible people for lulz.

I want to know more about that "turtle" Axe Rider. That design is

Trust me, you have plenty of good eggs in there, but the ones that stand out like this do so like a festering sore thumb... |
Have they confirmed Yuya Nawata as Saber's suit actor?

I keep wondering where the 10 Riders thing keeps coming from? I assume they mention it in the conference or something and well, I can't understand Japanese so
*shrug* |

Ghost wasn't amazing, but it's not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. I for one think if he's allowed to write for more than 22 episodes and the movies, that he'd turn out a strong season for Saber. |
Since there's a book gimmick to Saber, here's hoping for a Woz sighting.

Hmm, I dunno. The whole storybook angle they're leaning into is really dumb, but the designs of the Riders are pretty alright hey. I do think that Saber's design is a little too busy though. There's a Makai Knight kind of thing going on with all of them that I like.

Jokes aside I guess if they ever bring Woz back for like a movie or something I would not mind both appearing. |
