So if this pattern does hold up, maybe Kabuto will be the next uploaded installment. Which would be kinda dope because January 29th is the 15th anniversary of Kamen Rider Kabuto episode 1.

It doesn't have to be that most rider series start with a spider villain, just that of all the first villains, a spider is the most common.

So first they do the first two episodes of Kamen Rider, then they do episode 1 of Ryuki, next they jump back twenty years to Amazon, and now they go back to the second episode of Ryuki. This is madness!

Ah I see, they might be spreading the episodes out that way there's something for everybody each week.

So we might get Amazon Episode 2 tomorrow. Or if we don't then we might have hit something. In that, we get a two parter on Friday's, and then a singular episode starter on Saturday.

Gosh, I forgot how this show takes 35 episodes before it introduces the main character. :p

Having said that, watching this again, I was once more struck by how the world-building in this opening episode is just top notch. It's also great seeing Akiyama Rina at the height of her powers, and even though I've never really liked "Prototype Shinji," I think there's so much going on in this single episode that it's easier to side-step that at least for 20 minutes or so.

Well, guess I'll be watching some Kamen Rider this weekend, mostly The original and Agito's two episodes they have out, since those are the only shows they have that I haven't seen yet, as I have seen half of Amazon 1974 and just finished Ryuki when they uploaded the first episode of that. Besides, it'll probably be a while before more episodes of Garo get translated...

What were you expecting? It was stated at the very beginning that there will be 1 to 2 episodes per season.

Too bad there’s no legal way to watch Kamen Rider in Europe...guess I’ll just have to continue the not so legal way...

In America they don't have most of the seasons either. I still wonder why Shout! doesn't have the rights to stream Rider beyond North America.

Unfortunately, yes! Any tokusatsu that was used in a Saban adaptation was part of the Hasbro deal. To clarify, Hasbro technically has the rights to VR Troopers and Beetleborgs, which means the series they're adapted from, Spielvan, Shaider, Metalder, B-Fighter, and B-Fighter Kabuto, are all in Hasbro's hands just like Sentai in terms of Western distribution. Don't ask me about Black RX, cause I don't know if Masked Rider was part of the deal or not.

That's a surprise. I wasn't sure how/if Generation Kikaida's license would impact Toei's ability to put up their own version. Nice that there's an alternative to those ludicrously overpriced DVD sets.

Not quite. Both V3 and Kuuga have Ryugen-styled Lockseeds. Nought that might be a coincidence.

Looking back on the Heisei era, it feels like they got it right first time, and then spent a decade or two failing to understand what worked about Kuuga and doubling down on misinterpreting those facets.

I've actually never seen the show with English subs before, so I was really quite pleased with the novelty of the subtitles for the Grongi.

Naruhisa Arakawa just GETS what makes tokusatsu work more than just about every other writer in toku today. I've long accepted that Kuuga will forever be my favorite toku series.

Credit given where credit is due, it's a great show. I think I might have liked Agito a little more if they had leant a little more into the promise of a connexion between that and Kuuga that is present in the first few eps.

Honestly I often forget Skyrider exists, but I enjoyed it! If they ever make the whole series available somewhere I'll check it out.

Interesting note: in the description it says that the subtitling was subsidized by the Japanese government. Maybe increased culture exports to boost the economy could lead to more toku availability.
