I don't know if I see myself collecting this line, honestly. I saw that Fourze figure and passed on him pretty easily. This Faiz one, though... he's so ridiculous, and Faiz was a show that was so ambivalent about incorporating its toyetic elements (the first major upgrade was whipped at Takumi's head with almost no backstory or explanation!), that it really makes sense to me as a figure. I feel like I'm okay just getting this one, and not caring too much if he's just some random toy I own. Thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to post about him next week or so when he arrives! |
$92's not bad at all, especially totally unused. I can't wait to see what you think of it, and if it does tempt you into taking a look at some other figures in the line

Amiami second-hand can come through real well sometimes. Gonna hope another semi-affordable Horobi pops up on there again at some point and I can relax when it comes to tracking down Zero One stuff lol. |
Nice!! She's a hard one to track down, and an amazing design at that

Hmm... I was hoping for my SHF Blades to be my end-of-school gift to myself but this one'll do. Got her for $50 since she was on clearance.
Tho, my school won't really end end till the first week of May, so we'll see. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ez9RAZYU...name=4096x4096 |

The Mobirates might beat it out as my first changer overall... but here at last is my first ever Henshin Belt: the 10th anniversary re-issue of the Super Best OOO Driver; complete with the full sets of Gatakiriba, Ratoratah and Tajador. At the same time I got a smaller manda package with the Jonias and Agul Ultra Medals along with a Rider 1 OOO Medal; which could not have coincided with a better package.
I'm just. REALLY fucking happy about this; I didn't know for one thing that the 10th re-issue had new packaging and it's gorgeous; I'm gonna have to take a picture of all sides I think just to get across how nice it is! I already have a set of Shauta medals too; so now I just need Sagohzo, Putotyra and Burakawani for a full set. Oh, and a medal holder; get the feeling I'm gonna be needing one of those to complement this pretty soon! Of all things to be my first Driver I'm glad it's this lush. I complained before about this re-issue not being retail and having a couple thousand yen slapped on the price, and I still stand by those complaints; but with those hurdles jumped over it's simply nice to have this in my hands now https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...718/image0.jpg |

What other medals, if any, do you plan to pick up?

I need advice. Is the KR Saber S.H. Figuart Worth it?
|

The only thing I'd recommend is getting the SHF Upgrade sticker set for Saber to give his ridebook its detail. Elevates things real hard despite it being such a small detail. |
Thanks, Im gonna look for the lowest price I can find.

MASTERMIND CREATIONS OPTUS PEXUS: a.k.a. IDW Shadowplay Optimus Prime. This is a toy where nearly every (incredibly glowing!) review will talk about how articulated and poseable he is. And he is! To a baffling degree! I also sort of don't give a shit? What I want most of out of a Transformer isn't articulation or poseability, it's a fun transformation. In an effort to design the best ever Optimus Prime action figure (and it seriously is), this ended up being a really lackluster toy to transform. Not a perplexing hassle, but just kind of bland and perfunctory. It's a design where stuff extends out of housings, and that's its main moves. The MMC Chromedome was sublime; this one's obvious. Great action figure, but not a great Transformer. S.H. FIGUARTS MASKED RIDER DELTA: Delta's so great, I paid full price for a version with only one kneepad! Not, uh, on purpose, though? Got a few bucks back from Jungle for pointing out that their listing never said he was missing a kneepad (his left), and it's honestly pretty easy to overlook. Besides that, great figure. Tons of presence, just like on the show. I'm pretty happy with my accidentally incomplete Delta! S.H. FIGUARTS MASKED RIDER GARREN WITH RED RHOMBUS (NOT PICTURED): Everyone's favorite Dumpster Fire Who Walks Like A Man, it's Kamen Rider Garren. As long as he can stand there looking self-defeating and overwhelmed by the basic fact of his existence, I'm sold. Kind of hated having to buy a bike I'll never display (but now have to store) in order to get him, but Tachibana coming with baggage I resent and would prefer not to accomodate is so incredibly on-brand for Garren that I can't really get too mad. Well played, Bandai! S.H. FIGUARTS KAMEN RIDER RYUGEN - BUDOU ARMS: So, Gaim. I honestly never liked the suit designs. It's all Japanese military stuff I don't have a cultural attachment to, didn't grow up with, not really dialed into. And Ryugen, Mitchi, definitely not my guy from Gaim. That arc was... problematic, and sort of not a fun place to spend time. (Nearly every character resolution related to Mai's story bummed me out.) BUT THIS FIGURE IS GORGEOUS. All of the Gaim figures I've gotten so far have been two to three times more lovely than I ever found the suits on the show, and Ryugen is in a class of his own. The metallic purple-and-green is eye-catching, the proportions are spot-on, and he's stunning from every angle. One of my favorite figures to date, and the one who convinced me to start going all-in on Gaim Figuarts. S.H. FIGUARTS KAMEN RIDER ZANGETSU - MELON ARMS: I like him okay? The armor and weapons are beautiful, but the white undersuit is just distractingly dull. My eye keeps slipping off the gold and green to focus on the vaguely-pearl coloring of his torso, or how undetailed his thighs and upper arms look. It's the suit, Bandai nailed it, but it's not really a design that improves enough in figure form. It's better! But it's only good enough. |
Nice pickup of the Kureshima brothers! Been thinking of getting Ryugen sometime, too since he's my 2nd favorite base form after Baron. And I'm the few who like Micchy too.
As per Zangetsu... Idk if I would want his base, Shin, or Kachidoki. |
Quote:
Owning him now... if I had to get one, I'd probably go with Shin? I don't currently own Shin or Kachidoki, but Melon Arms is just so basic that I'd assume either other form would be more fun to own, and he at least wore Shin a bunch on the show. Kachidoki's just in the stage show and that Bravo/Gridon special, so it would feel weird to be the only Zangetsu suit to own. But I wouldn't fight you on it! Kachidoki anything is pretty great! |

For me, it was less Definitive Suit To Own, and more First The Basic Suit. Like, my Figuarts collecting is something I envision as a series of concentric rings. First main rider base suits, then secondary rider base suits, then villains/support/upgrades/form-changes. So, Shin was more Eventually than anything else. Probably should've gotten him first, though! |

The show-accurate white on Zangetsu Kachidoki Arms makes such a huge difference.

They first said they would refund me, no problem. But now they are asking me to send the item back, which is ridiculous as it would cost me more than 3 times the cost of the item itself. And due to what I feel like is constant misunderstanding of the situation, they have now frozen my account so I can't place any more orders or ship items in my warehouse. Bizarre. I might have to go back to Buyee. Also while I'm here, Hobby Search Japan has charged my friend $180 USD to ship a somewhat large $60 plush toy. Overseas shipping is really getting crazy and cumbersome, I wish it were easier to get imported goods. |
April's hauls were all pre-orders that finally came in

So after getting some Daiso acrylic risers locally and really liking them I found that not only do that have a US online store but they had the same risers in stock for the same price as their in-person retailer so I ordered a bunch to fill out some extra space on prior shelves and to help reorganize my Sentai display.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E0KlrwOX...jpg&name=large The final looks speak for themselves. Each shelf can hold 6 risers with about half an inch or so of space left on each side. Way more space to work with, making layering each level easier so everyone can be seen despite how packed a shelf is. In some cases it actually freed up some extra space. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E0Kq4k3X...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E0K-36DX...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E0LG_WwX...jpg&name=large Gonna be investing in more of these in the future to fully overhaul my entire display. |
Oh yeah, those risers made a huge difference. Very nice!

Amazing!! Seriously need to get some of these myself
|
That's...actually genius.
I have a lot of risers, but the thought of just...smaller risers never occurred to me. Wow. That's amazing. Serves the same purpose as a big, long one, but with more playability. |
Quote:
Getting these smaller ones for cheap (Each one is like $1.50 so I can basically fill 2 shelves for under $20 if I'm buying them at the store itself) means I can fill the space efficiently with little to no gapping left behind. |

How much was shipping for you?
|
Shipping was about $15. It's the one drawback from ordering them online as opposed to going to the store itself, but Daiso isn't exactly a wide-spread retailer.
It was basically $34 or so shipped for 12 risers. |
