I am expecting Old Nigo but I would not be surprised if Anno tries to create a further contrast with Ichigo and go with New Nigo instead. But instead of just being red boots and gloves maybe it's the boots and gloves from his old suit only covered in blood. |
I can also see Nigou powering up his fists burning for a rider punch, something like that. Would be neat.

I guess structure-wise this might be somewhat like The First in terms of starting off with Hongo, he beats the first Kaijin, then they work in Ichimonji and we get the Double Riders in the climax. |

actor Emoto Tasuku will be taking up the role of Kamen Rider 2/Ichimonji.

Also kind of funny how he'll be taller than Hongo: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FIArJG1V...jpg&name=large |
It's humorous how the first thing I noticed was that Hamabe got a new outfit! Sometimes I forget this is also a Kamen Rider movie. :lol
2 looks cool though. I like how he's distinct from 1 while keeping the classic design. I actually prefer him to 1, mostly since I like 1's green Sakurajima suit more than the original teal. |
I'm with Sh here on how they dealt with Nigo's suit retaining the classic design while still making it distinct from Ichigo.
When I first saw the image of the actor, I almost though "Ignis (Ultraman Trigger) is a Rider now?" but I am interested in seeing how they handle this compared to The First. |
REVIVAL POST!! Shin trailer dropped.

My unhealthy obsession with trench coats has convinced me that I need to watch this movie.

I like how the marketing seems to come from Shocker themselves, I know they're going for a more Happy Science thing than the nazis but I feel this would be done by Ishinomori himself if he were alive and working today, kinda gives Shocker a more... Familiar, friendly vibe which would be an accurate way of showing his anti fascist views by being a metaphor for how some truly awful people can be 'that friendly person across the street' or whatever by being a massive chud

There is a very Showa feel in this that I love, yet also very modern action movie but Tokusatsu to the core.
It looks as though the trench coat might be functioning as a "disguise" and the "transformations," which I thought at first was going to be nanomachines, son, is probably going to be similar to The First where they just pop on the helmet. And this modern take on Shocker is very interesting, it's not the comical take-over-the-world, mustache twirling villains they've been 50 years ago, but still has that feel to them even without the evil facade, and that honestly makes them feel more terrifying. They're not trying to spread fear in the open but operating from the shadows and possibly having a presence in the everyday world manipulating things to their design. I'm excited for when this appears next yet, but first, there's Shin Ultraman to look forward to. |
Now all we need is an official announcement for Shin Super Sentai and we're officially very good to go! :D
|
I hope we get some Eva x KR stuff similar how they did with Shin Godzilla. Having a SHF Ichigo figure with Eva 01 colors would be cool.
|
Alright, so I'm absolutely in love with about 90% of this.
But I will say that what little action we see looks a bit... jarring. It reads more like what you'd see on Revice or Saber or Zero-One than what you'd expect from a cinematic Kamen Rider production. That's not a slight to modern Kamen Rider series, I'd just expect that with a movie budget comes movie action. Otherwise, this is giving me big Shiki-Jitsu vibes, and I am here for it. |

This movie looks like a great balance between modern and classic. I love it.

Feels like they're going to emphasize Hongo and Ruriko's relationship even more than The First did. Like they're actual partners teaming-up to take down Shocker together. Is that old man Professor Midorikawa?
So, we've got Spider-Man, Bat-Man fulfilling the Shocker Mad Scientist role, and Wasp Woman. All we're missing is Cobra Man. I wonder if any actual Shocker execs will show up. I'm really curious what Ichimonji's role will be. |

Do we have any idea when this might release? Everything just says March 2023, but is there a way to predict when in March? Shin Ultraman released on May 13, while Shin Godzilla released Oct 11. Do you think that means Shin Kamen Rider could release around the second week of May 2023 as well?
I realize this is bit "looking too deep into it," but I'm trying to plan a trip to Japan around that time and I would love to be able to catch the movie in theaters while I'm there. |

This getting a US run in theaters like Ultraman did? Missed that but would not miss this.

This looks so good. I wish I could watch this in theaters. But right now I don't see Ultraman happening around here, let alone this.
At least there are rumors of an Amazon Prime release in Europe, which would at least make me able to watch it in some fashion. |
YES it's releasing while I'll be in Japan. So excited.

Hard to believe that it's already less than a month till Shin Kamen Rider, feels like it was announced just yesterday. Time flies, huh.
Have fun over there in Japan, hopefully it won't be too crowded if you're seeing it on release! :) Yeah, some European distributor got the rights to release it on Amazon Prime here a while back. Hopefully it won't take too long. Also, hopefully the (Japanese) Blu-Ray release won't take 2 years like with Shin Eva. I wonder who will provide the ending theme, if there will be one. Will it be Yonezu again, taking on a similar role to that of Utada Hikaru with the Rebuild of Evangelion movies? Maybe it will be her, due to her previous work with Anno? Maybe it will be someone completely out of left field, or maybe there just isn't one? Maybe LOREN & MASH will make their illustrious comeback? Heck, maybe Yoshiki will actually do something with X Japan once in a while, instead of launching a million side projects? :lol To be fair, at this point it seems like there isn't going to be one, otherwise I feel there would have been some teaser or indication at this point, if I didn't miss some prior news. On a serious note, the ultimate tribute would of course be to get Hiroshi Fujioka to sing "Let's go! Rider kick!" once more, although that feels like it should be the opening. |
Does anyone knows if Shin Kamen Rider gonna have an opening or ending theme song?

With Shin Ultraman, if I recall correctly, at this point the trailers already contained a snippet of "M87" by Kenshi Yonezu. If Shin Kamen Rider were going to have a similar ending theme, we'd already have had some kind of a teaser. I don't think Shin Godzilla had a specially made ending theme either. I'm thinking that it will either be just a track off of the OST, or they could use one (or more) of the ending themes from the original 1971 show. That would admittedly be really cool and a great homage, and I wouldn't put it past Anno either. This is all just wild speculation off the top of my head, with no real evidence behind it, mind you. |

No news about an international release, but we have a new Imax poster for the film:
https://i.redd.it/x68k3vmfavoa1.jpg Surprisingly, the poster is currently the top post on the r/movies subreddit. Many of the comments are excited for the movie based on the previous 2 Shin films, despite having no knowledge of Kamen Rider. Hopefully that bodes well for a strong international release if/when it happens. |
