I was right to Skip Saber I think as I enjoyed that first episode.
Also...I cannot help to think that Vice will be a bit like Momotaros... Well, I already plan to do this "season" from start to finish, I'm invested. |
Jawsubs brought out their episode 1 earlier today! I'll have to check out how they compare later

I really enjoyed the first episode. I have high hopes for this season!
|
This is what JawSubs translates the catchphrase to, by the way. Unfortunately a bit generic -- though that isn't indicative of their quality as a whole, I must stress; I'm pretty mixed on them but they have some very clear advantages over the others so far

Is there any reasons the deadmans are designed based on origamis?
|
It would be nice to know the general pros and cons of each of the subbers, if anyone knows them offhand
|

Might have to do with the contracts. The monsters themselves look like they have a base design, but with the origamis folded on top of them like armor. I imagine the origami is made from the contracts they've formed. Contracts and origami are both made of paper. In other words, our stamp Riders are fighting paper monsters. Good enough reason for me. |

Can't remeber how they visualized it in the actual first episode for some reason tho |
It's weird since, you know, south american cultures of long ago don't know about papers or even written contracts

- IzuSubs is a pretty basic, direct and dry sub with no extras (ie henshin phone convos) but comes out very fast - GenmCorp takes a day but is very characterful and detailed; does the henshin phone conversations too. Certain lines felt a bit confusing in what they were conveying - JawsSubs is a lot more clear in a lot of things but takes a couple days, and a few lines aren't fantastic. Did both the henshin phone conversations and the south american in the flashback I feel all the flaws with Genm and Jaws (aside from the time) is to do with Genm not being used to Revice and Jaws being a completely new group; ie teething problems that will very quickly go away. I feel that they're the best options for Revice in terms of quality, but if you wanna watch the episode asap then Izu's subs are far from horrible |

I think Legend Rider Form is only aesthetic, doubt if they appropriately represent the 'correct' animal of the past Riders, but I'd like it too if they stick exclusively into extinct animals, or probably exclusively demons and many of their kind. |

I watched Ex-Aid via Genm and thought they were fairly good. Do we know why they didn't finish Saber? Was it a lack of interest? Anyway, I think I'll go with Jaws to start. Earthly is working with them, and I've liked their subs in the past. |
Quote:
I actually didn't know Genm did Ex-Aid; I thought they started with Build! Either way, the reason they didn't finish Saber is because at the time they were facing financial problems -- they did try to catch up once it was over but obviously they really fell behind. They've also said they're not sure yet if they're committed to doing Revice |

So I've finally seen it, and I'm kind of mixed on it. I thought the fight scene was great (especially when Revi kicked the Junior and taking a chunk of the wall with it, that looked painful) but I feel the world hasn't gripped me in and I felt the episode dragged a bit.

I noticed that the Mammoth and Rex Deadmans have the Rex and Mammoth parts made from the folded contracts.
|
It’s been a few years since I last watched live, so I figured now was as good a time as any do it again.
The episode was kind of too much on multiple levels, but I also had a big stupid grin plastered on my face the entire time, so I had to give it the excellent vote in the end. I mean sure the pacing was breakneck and the choreography was kinda chaotic, but one of the antagonists is wearing a sombrero. The protagonist and his demon text while transforming. I guarantee you I will at least have some stupid fun with this show. |

There are some official "inner workings" artworks that show him both without and with artificial, machine-like parts inside his body. So technically I'd say it's up to anyone’s guess, I'd lean towards him not being a Cyborg because the show doesn’t confirm it. |
Rejoice! For a new Rider has graced us! Their name is Kamen Rider Revi and Vice. Together they form Kamen Rider Revice! And now we witness 50 years of Rider history.
Sorry, had to do the Woz recital for a new Rider. Also, shoutout to Gashatfreak for helping me find the episodes. Thanks, buddy! Now real quick, I'm going to bring up the Saber X Revice Crossover special. Which, honestly, I didn't really care for any of the Revice appearances (except George), and only really wanted to see the Saber cast. I can see I'm not the only one who wasn't pleased with Vice's fart jokes. But, I'm going to miss the Saber, to be honest. Then I watched Revice and... It was great! First of all, love how many homages were present in the starting scene, from Kuuga's inspired ruins, the date being 1971, and taking place in South America, likely a nod to Amazon 1973, all culminating into that 50th Anniversary logo, which was just brilliant. I was surprised to see that Fenix had an Airship, which I absolutely adore, and similar to Zero-One, the conflict is pretty much public, which makes for an interesting setting. As we're all guessing that Fenix might become evil down the line, I got Shocker vibes from their ceremony scene. Of course, I can't talk about a show without it's protagonists. And Ikki is definitely looking to be a good one, given how he's not into doing good for the sake of good, and that only serves to make Vice more interesting. Now, despite my thoughts on him from the crossover special, I actually enjoyed him here, a good mix of malicious and entertaining. I was worried he'd get too annoying or keep to those unfunny gags from the crossover. Revi and Vice look amazing, so too do the Deadmans' goons, and the fight scenes going slightly more traditional were refreshing, especially considering the weapon is only used briefly near the end. I too, get a lot of Build's Sclash Driver transformation vibes, and seeing the translations for the message board made it more entertaining. Also, having recently re-watched Movie Taisen Megamax (curtesy of Toei Tokusatsu World Official), I enjoyed seeing Revi destroy the place in his battle. Also, great to see the protagonist's family didn't get murdered like many of the Showa Riders. I especially liked the family's chemistry, which could make for a fun dynamic down the line, especially if Daiji and Sakura become Rider's themselves. And of course, how can I forget George, who, while not quite as wild as I hoped, was still entertaining nonetheless. Love how he did Ichigo's henshin pose, as he guided Ikki on transforming. All in all, I like what they've shown us, and I look forward to what's to come. |
Also, since I forgot to mention it, Revice's Opening.
In short, very different than what I was expecting. If I'm honest, I think Saber's is my favorite of the Reiwa Riders Openings, but I will wait for the full version before making any final judgements. It kind of reminds me of the Pillar Men theme from JoJo. I guess Revice is the JoJo of Riders. And I'm all for it. |
So does anyone know where I can find this? Dramanice doesn't have it; and kissasian has gone down the toilet in regards to quality.

torrent it and watch it in all of its glory instead of supporting a website littered with ads to make money off of you. a streaming site will never have good quality compared to torrenting. tokufun also only supports up to 360p which is pathetic.
|
The more I look at Revi's design the more I love it. I adored it from the beginning - it's really hard not to make a good impression with those colours and that helmet being as crazy as they are - but I'm rewatching clips and seeing screenshots of this episode on twitter and such, and each time I find myself enjoying the suit more. It's so shiny and glossy and feral and wild. Like, man; especially when just last year we had one of the wildest main suits in Rider history, it's impressive to me just how much Revi stands out

EDIT: Tokufun didn't work, so I guess I won't be watching this season of kamen rider. This is why we need a dedicated FREE platform to stream toku |
Is your internet connection particularly slow? I don't have great internet myself and single episodes take something like 10-15 minutes. Some groups have also been uploading 720p versions that are half the file size

Also, they got letters from lawyers recently for simply hosting a blog where they collect links to their stuff, what do you assume happens if they let people stream this content on their web space? Quote:

there's also literally always someone that uploads the subbed episodes. even though we were basically told to start merging files ourselves, I literally have never had to. like I said, this franchise is popular enough that someone will probably do the work for you. sorry but if you are relying on garbage streaming sites then you are living in the past. |

To Kiwami, I wouldn't pay for a streaming service. |

As it stands, while it's a slow burn, and has been at times confusingly inconsistent, toei is venturing into official western releases more, and as they do fansubbers (for the most part) are going to be deleting their releases of the subs On top of that toei has clearly become a lot more willing to bring out their lawyers over fansubs, so it's hard for me to imagine that any sites streaming the shows directly, or that host direct downloads of the show, will survive through the next 5-10 years especially if the show continues to grow it's official western presence Now if you're in the USA or Canada at least the series shout has subbed so far (1971, and Kuuga) are free to stream with ads, and soon Ryuki will be added as well, and then most likely Zero-One will be streaming on shout once the physical release comes around In the USA specifically but NOT any other part of North America, Agito and 555 are actually subbed on "TOKU" a channel you can add onto Amazon Prime for an extra $3.99/month (which sounds like it isn't an option for you, but feels worth mentioning for the subject as a whole) Why toei is currently splitting series between two different companies for the western release, and why they aren't available to more regions, is beyond me, but that's a bigger discussion In any case, if you're outside of North America then I think it is going to slowly become a lot harder to watch rider, at least "for free", over the next 5-10 years, that's my prediction anyways. My hope is that they get all of the show on YouTube or Shout and unlock it for basically every county that doesn't get Kamen Rider already, that'd be great, but it seems DVDs, region locked on shouts website, and paid streaming networks are what toei has their eyes on And if rider ever starts getting simul subbed the fansubs will probabaly just stop entirely, at which point paying for the show will be the easiest option It's a shame that you can't watch revice since you clearly want to, but that may just be how it is going forward for anyone relying on anything besides torrents and official releases I will give you some pro-tips for if you try torrenting again tho, if you set a torrent's priority to high it should download faster, it just may use literally all you're bandwidth, torrents also go the fastest if you're not using the internet for anything else, if it's an option I'd say try to download them when you're the only one in your home using the internet, and just do something offline (or something that uses very little bandwidth like a podcast for example), and if you have any always online devices in your home that you don't need on during that time consider turning them off. Do some of or all of that until the file is done downloading, then it should go at least a bit faster that way, maybe that'll make it a more viable option for you. Since you have low internet speed also make sure you don't seed torrents (I.e. you should hit "stop" on a torrent even after its done downloading) if you have things seeding that also uses bandwidth A good option is also to leave torrents downloading over night, this is especially a good option if you want to download multiple torrents at once Also if you're fine with the 360p on streaming sites consider getting SD torrents when possible, those are usually in 480p (which is a big improvement over 360p) and have substantially smaller file sizes, if there's no SD option look at various releases and see what their file sizes are and go for the smallest option |
the funny thing is torrenting is easier and more reliable than these shitty streaming sites who think they're doing you a favor by charging you 9 bucks a month to watch in 720p
I like to think we've all come a long way from watching the series' on kissasian and henshin fever's facebook page I'm sorry but there just is no excuse to not torrent nowadays. I've had garbage internet, too. kamen rider episodes are less than 700 megabytes. even if you had an absolute garbage download speed of 150 kilobytes per second, it'd take about an hour and 20 minutes. all the work that came with torrenting has been done for us to enjoy. we live in an age where we can have our cake and eat it |

FYI, all the pirate streaming sites are incredibly sketchy and, unless you're running a VPN and adblocker, you're exposing yourself to all sorts of malware and potential hacking that a trusted torrent source won't expose you to. It's gonna be a lot easier (and cheaper) in the long run to download toku torrents from nyaa than it will be to cancel all of your credit cards, change all of your passwords, and pay the ransomware fee if you get hacked by a streaming site. |
Well, I was stunned by how much I liked this debut! I was worried by how goofy the trailer came off - but, then, Ex-Aid also had a "concerning" trailer and I absolutely loved that season.
The plot is off to a great start; the family is interesting, the setting is bizarre and our protag is charmingly dorky but switches into badass mode pretty damn fast. The brother is probably going to make a bad contract and be a villain and Vice will probably be an issue throughout. Wouldn't be shocked if the sister becomes a Rider at some point. So far so good, imo. |
