Tire Koukan.... In the face! The suits don't look as intimidating as Donbrothers and King-Ohger, but I don't hate them too much. Seems like most people are complaining and honestly, it's difficult to argue. Boon Orange's visor looks more like a waffle grill than a wheel.
I've seen worse though. I actually think the colors are spread a little more evenly than the Donbrothers, which I thought had too much black. While there's a lot of white here, I think the grey accents help to draw attention to the colored parts. I like Boon Pink's visor the most, as it has more expression than the others. Now I wonder what's the point of Black and Orange having a unique morpher, when there's not really any visible difference in the suits like Go-On Green and Black. Maybe it's just the poor quality of the picture, but the shade of orange looks darker than I was expecting, like ochre. The mecha reminds me of Pat Kaizer, except with only 3 components and in Kishiryu Oh Three Knights' colors. The way the cars unfold in to weapons is pretty cool and overall, I like the design. Looking forward to the official reveal! Quote:

It's not that it's juvenile and inoffensive, it's that the person who did it (or someone working with them) also tagged producers at Toei in tweets about the leaks. Giving them a name that they can easily look up and associate with whoever's leaking toy catalogues for their upcoming new shows before they officially reveal them.
As juvenile and inoffensive as the insults are, it was still done with very clear malicious intent. |

And even if that were true, it's incredibly hypocritical as there are still catalog leaks on this website. And it has watermarks with people's names on them but still not taken down. https://www.tokunation.com/forums/sh...postcount=1025 See those characters on the on the watermarks? That's an employee's name. Yet it's still up. |

And honestly this is something that you should take up with the moderators directly. |

The issue with the leaks, from my perspective (which I doubt you'll care about, but oh well), is that they were targeted at Matt Hunt specifically, and a lot of people have respect for him, including me. Even though he had me blocked on Twitter for unknown reasons. *shrugs* At the end of the day, they made a call and went with it. You can either accept it or keep ranting. The choice is ultimately up to you and it's your energy to waste. *tips hat* Have a nice day/night. |
i still wondering who would do this to matt hunt?
|
Anyway, what do you guys think of the suits and mecha?

Here's the infraction I received: Quote:
https://www.tokunation.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=92 My post has nothing to do with off site drama. --- Infraction on Rule 6. I have actively chosen to ignore this because what happened was at best self interest on part of the admins on the site or at worst xenophobia on their part. And the only way I've even got this kind of response was by talking about this publicly. On its face, their reasoning for censoring the leaks, "We havs been asked not to share watermarked catalog leaks." was untrue. As evidenced time and time again. Leaks have been tolerated on this site and continue to be tolerated. https://www.tokunation.com/forums/sh...postcount=1025 "In regards to the Matt Hunt leak situation, we?ve chosen not to post those leaks out of respect for his wishes." So Matt Hunt's wishes get preferential treatment because they are either friends with mod staff or someone is a big fan of them. The original reasoning makes it sound like staff was in trouble with Bandai or Toei but in reality it's just cause Matt doesn't like it. Why are his wishes so important? The reason I continually bring up the other leaks is because other people's names are also on them. They too can also receive harsh ramifications for them leaking. Why aren't they being protected like Matt? Is it cause they're Japanese? All the staff are English speaking Westerners so the concerns of Japanese employees do not matter to them. This is indicative of the greater Western Toku fandom. From big wigs like the former Power Rangers showrunner mocking Japanese filmmaking all the way down to social media ecelebs showing complete lack of empathy for the plight of Japanese employees who are harmed when they recklessly throw around leaks within their social circles. It's an important issue that deserves to be called out publicly and not ignored and hidden away behind private messages. Even you, the person I'm responding to, is incredibly concerned with Matt's plight and on board with their actions, Quote:

We have chosen to NOT allow sharing of the leaked images of the BoonBoomger suits/mecha. The sharing of the images look (on the surface) to be targeted harassment at the individual who first shared them out. We are not going to get caught up in that and will wait for non-personalized, non-watermarked images before sharing them.
That's it. That's our reason. It's time to move on from all the other conversation around it. We appreciate everyone respecting our decision. Thanks. |
I really love the crazy designs of Boonboomger. Their designs are so unexpected and very unique.
The Boonboomger robot is very awesome and reminds me of Kyoryuzin Brave and PatKaiser. |

The suit designs are so weird it's good, especially the helmets. It's the kind of weird you see in a Super Sentai parody for prime time TV ads for Good Year, Bridgestone, or Enkei. The suits are more traditional, in the sense that they have no armors, unlike the last 3 seasons. I wonder if the face wheel does spin, haha. |

The helmets... I did not expect them to be an instant least-favorite. They have fully edged out all other candidates for least-favorite Sentai helmet.
I think the fundamental problem is the silhouette, which doesn't read as human. When I'd heard the rumors of tire visors, I'd assumed the tire would be on its side and roughly correspond to a normal Sentai visor. I'm curious as to how often we'll see the suits without them. I'd assume only during transformation, but the mecha did sort of look like it was using the same tire from our red hero. I am so, so curious to find out what Japanese kids think of the suits once official images are released. (I assume that's also not likely to happen before mid-January?) |

For the silhouette, it's not like we even know for sure that they're human, based on what little we've seen. Could be like the Kikainoids, or the CGI Donbrothers where their bodies physically change. |
The helmets look like the kind of heads you'd see on car-themed grunt enemies. I really have no better way to phrase it but... they're very undignified? Does that make sense? The tires don't communicate a personality or "expression" like helmet visors usually do.
Also the mecha isn't looking too hot. Don Onitaijin and King Ohger had such instantly strong, easily readable and badass silhouettes. On the plus side it looks like it may still be articulated (yay!) but the design is pretty basic looking. Also disappointed we're back to Red's being the main body and everyone else being swappable arms. Even though it quickly got out of hand I quite liked how King Ohger just kept building on the main mech. Then again, there's way worse play patterns than swappable arms. Clearer pics may help some but honestly this feels really weak after the last two Sentai's design aesthetics. |

Just from the rough leaks, the suit designs are a little too silly and out-there for my taste. I'll happily wait for the full official reveal, but kinda looks like we're getting a more goofy & lighter season? That's fine, Sentai has been on a good track of mixing things in the past few years |

no way.

I fucking love them. This is the dumb Sentai bullshit I can't get enough of.

This looks absolutely awful, I love it.

Everyone's talking about the tire faces, but I'm all like... zippers on the front of the suit!?

welcome back to the showa era.

I'm sorry I just had to. :lolol AHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!! OH I AM GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN CALLING THEM CHOSOU SENTAI CAR-OHGER IN 2024. :lolol :lolol Seriously, they need to get Masaru Shishido who played Goro/Oh Red and Junretsu to sing at the least an insert song, hopefully the ending to this. Reason being both Shishido and Junretsu's musical style, mood kayo, would so fit this vibe they have going for in this pic. I don't know if Shishido still sings (I hope he does) but Junretsu has decent public prominence as a mood kayo singing group and since the majority of them are sentai and rider alumni it's befitting for them to be involved in this, especially after seeing this pic. So the theme for Boonboomger is "cars and creating/build up" and they're calling them a "creative" sentai team in their little promo link that introduces them. Here is the rough translation for the description about the core three rangers. Boon Red has a positive outlook and a passionate heart who has a knack for looking through things and is competitive, leading the team with quick decisiveness. Boon Blue is the cool personality type who keeps things professional but gets fired up when things get challenging. Boon Pink is the naive moodmaker of the group with a bright personality who is very curious of things, and prefers to act than just think. The scriptwriter has worked on stuff like Pokemon, Battle Spirits, and Inazuma Eleven apparently. Quote:

Looks like more of a Sentai knockoff than an actual Sentai team.
|
going off the look it;s giving me car-ranger vibes with the racing outfits and the car
|
I've been warming up to the designs. But now the only thing throwing me off is the big ol' Kingdom Hearts shoes. Otherwise I like the F1 pit crew inspired uniforms a lot.
|
I wonder if they're trying to permanently phase out skirts.
|
Loving that this expiramental era of Sentai looks to be continuing! These look so cool!
|
Looks like they did a 180 by having the suits show as little of the color as possible where tye Kingoher suits were nothing but color.
