that's a new beginning.
|
For the moment, I'm very willing to dismiss this all outright, or assume that its a part of the plans that have ALREADY BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR A THIRD SERIES. Why would TOEI be putting out ads in Thai first for their brand new show even though they've been extremely tight lipped about it?
My thoughts: 1. Toei annouced a third show, for that show to be a new show that focuses on legacy sentai feels pretty on-brand. (Though this could be totally unrelated and just a much smaller thing TBH) 2. WHY in the ACTUAL WORLD would TOEI start a NEW SHOW about a FAILING BRAND!?!?!?!!?!?!?! 3. Everything else, together. "We are announcing a new 3rd show" 2 months pass: "We are cancelling 2 shows and making a show based on one of the shows we cancelled" This fandom drives me friggin' crazy sometimes. If Sentai just got cancelled to introduce *checks watch* Sentai, i will mail you each 10 dollars and an apology. Bookmark this post. |

It seems like no one knows what's going on and it's all just parroting rumors.

1. Hasbro could still file copyright infringement based on its similarity to Power Rangers. 2. How would this new incarnation of the show address its past? Will it have to focus solely on the Sentai seasons that were never incorporated into Power Rangers? 3. How would they differentiate between this new incarnation from the old one? Will we have to say goodbye to the mecha/robots? 4. How would this series even be marketed to audiences outside of Asia? 5. If the show does manifests and comes to the U.S. will Bandai be releasing the toys? How can they do so without stepping on the toes of Hasbro? 6. Could Toei avoid a copyright claim if they allow Hasbro to distribute the toys? |

I get the impression that you are young-ish, or maybe just new to fandom, but you are gonna struggle to find many friends if you take everything so personally. You'll notice I'm plenty critical of peoples ideas but not critical of the PEOPLE. TBH when i was younger i acted like you plenty of times, its really no big deal, my point is its going to hurt you more than it could possibly hurt me. Just take all of this as people having fun talking about their passions. You aren't going to find a lot of people here who hate Sentai or any Toku property, maybe we like one more than the other, but we are all here to talk about the facts pertaining to the shows. Its not making fun of eachother, or hurtful, to disagree, so theres never any reason for the aggressive posturing. If you are sure about something , just say you are sure, be confident, not angry. Also, Just remember theres a lot of people in here talking to eachother as a crowd, if you thought anything i was saying before was directed at you specifically, I'm pretty sure you were mistaken. Apology accepted, no worries. |
So, suppose the rumored detective story is greenlit. Yay, or nay folks? As much as I am saddened of what may be no more Super Sentai as of 2026, perhaps it's time Toei went back to the drawing board to come up with new toku hero shows or revive old ones for a new generation.

TV Asahi's "Super Sentai" will be followed by a Reiwa-era version of "Space Sheriff Gavan" |

I mean, this lines up perfectly with the detective rumors since, you know, Gavan is a cop. The question is will this be a fresh reboot, or will this follow up on Space Squad in any form?

i don't trust yahoo japan and oricon.

no one is beliving me about the rebranding of super sentai for no reason.
|
Keep in mind that Toei also folded Metal Heroes into the Super Sentai side of things pretty prominently for a few years after Gavan vs Gokaiger to the point where they were clearly setting up for a cross-franchise series with Space Squad.
Universe Heroes could still circle back around to that idea wholesale if they're planning to revive Gavan again. |
The article also mentions that Toei might still be shopping around a home for Sentai, either through a streaming service or another station. Either way, as stated before, TV Asahi is definitively out.

So to summarize what we know from actual reputable sources:
1. TV Asahi will no longer co-produce Super Sentai, leaving that franchise without a home for the time being. 2. A brand new Space Sheriff series on TV Asahi is replacing Sentai. 3. If Toei wants to make a new Sentai series, it will have to be elsewhere. Universe Heroes is either a new brand Toei is creating to combine Super Sentai and Metal Heroes, or it's a rebranding of Metal Heroes itself. We probably won't know the truth of this until Toei or Bandai makes an official announcement. |
