This is one of my main concerns: I hope it's still different enough that it doesn't feel like just a second Kamen Rider series.

The teaser shows Gavan Infinity mecha and the mecha design looks quite sleek. It seems the mecha design is similar to the Gundam.

Because there aren't any. This is looking more and more like a one hero with multiple forms show like Kamen Rider.

I think they're showing off Gavan's form changes and will probably market any other Hero characters later like is usually the case for Rider shows.

Modern rider shows can be in your face about toys. I get these shows are made to sell something, but the older shows did it where it doesn't feel so overblown.

Well, the new Gavan will have at least three forms. Of which only one is red. It seems like "Red" in Project Red is like "Rider" in Kamen Rider - more of a label than the real thing. I am also interested in the flashing: “Who is the hero?” If the heroism of the main character is called into question, then it really looks like another KR show.

I think these are three separate people not only because of the "Who is the real hero?" text but also because Gold feels a bit different in terms of build and stance compared to Red or Silver.

Silver just seems to have a redecoed Zanglass Sword but also I love that weapon so sure why not.

Also lmao Red's gun is so clearly a robot toy folded into a gun shape.

As several people have noted, these don't quite feel like form changes. Given the whole "Record of Extraordinary Dimensions" part of Project RED, I actually suspect they're three different alternate universe versions of Gavan. They've mentioned a few times how they were influenced by the popularity of western superheroes, and this would line up perfectly.

A Gavan-verse, dare I say? I'm game.

If these are different characters, not different forms, then I have a feeling it will be even harder to accept red as Gavan. Although, I admit, I wouldn't mind seeing more space sheriffs in a show that has very little in common with its predecessors.

Pretty sure most of the rumors have been debunked at this point. We're in uncharted territory.

The Infinity in Gavan Infinity does have me convinced of the possibility of us being given multiple Gavans. Heck, this red Gavan we have could just be, for a better lack of comparison, the Miles Morales of the supposed Gavan-verse with the gold and silver Gavans being others, while Retsu Ichijoji from the OG show is heralded as Gavan Prime, or something of that nature. And what if, like Rick and Morty, there's a supposed Council of Gavans?

The advantage of rebooting a show about a dimension-crossing hero is that the originals can still show up anyway with no further explanation required. It's an interesting theory that "Gavan Infinity" doesn't refer to only a single Gavan but rather a group of Gavans, like how Amazons refers mostly to Omega and Alpha. Regarding the Miles comparison, our main hero does have the red and black. If this is the case, it would be awesome to see the return of Geki and/or Retsu for a big Gavan team-up!

Well, it's always possible that this initiative will fail, and Toei will urgently return to the old format or invent something new. Or simply give up, and then TV Asahi will have to find something new for Super Hero Time.

Heck, here's another thought. If they want, they could perhaps sprinkle a bit of The One (the Jet Li movie) for an episode or two to make things interesting, where one Gavan variant turns heel and starts jumping around worlds offing other Gavans for a specific reason, and our red Gavan needs to stop said Gavan variant. And yes, more Retsu and Geki, please. :rock:
I'm aware Kenji Ohba has been going through rehab since 2018, but would still love to see him reprise his role somehow. And last I checked, Yuuma Ishigaki who played Geki seems to like his character, and given how much time has passed, Geki could be the veteran warrior type who's around to share words of wisdom when needed.

To actually answer one of your questions:

They already said they are deep into working on the show for after Gavan, and it will be even less similar to sentai, and thats pretty much all we know. But like has been said, anything could happen. Like we talked about before, it was announced alongside the release of Zeztz that there would soon be Zeztz, a new sentai, AND a new toku show (presumably SSS:Gavan Infinity) all airing at the same time. That changed within a matter of i think a month or 2, smashing 50 years of precedent. Its a new era, prepare for surprises.

For sure, Geki developed a lot through the movies and soon it'll be 8 years since his last appearance, he could totally fit in the mentor role. This would be a great opportunity to bring back Space Squad, since he's the leader of that project. I can see that being used for the summer movie, with some past Metal Heroes and Rangers showing up.

Toy listings have confirmed the three suits in the trailer are for three separate heroes: Gavan Infinity (Red), Gavan Samurai (Silver), and Gavan Hikari (Gold). The gimmick will be a gun and battery combination kinda like Kyoryuger. Guns transform into the mechas, and can combine with auxiliary mechas.

Anyway, I've already been answered, but to be more specific, I'll recall the situation with the Kamen Rider revival in the late 80s. Back then, despite Black's strong start, it all ended after just two shows. Yes, it was a different time and a foregone conclusion, since Toei was competing with itself, making projects for different channels. But they still decided to bet on a more stable franchise.

With names like those, they should definitely team up to form Infinite Samurai Hikari, like Zi-O Trinity. Overall, judging by their names, I'd venture to guess that Samurai will be a more seasoned veteran hero, a mentor, or a grumpy retiree. And Hikari will be a mysterious leader.

What people need to keep in mind about Project R.E.D. "failing" is that for Toei to change course and and say pivot back to super sentai Project R.E.D. would not "just" need to fail... it would have to "SPECTACULARLY" fail.

Ratings and merch sales would have to be below what Super Sentai has made in the past few years. If lets say Project Red does the same as Gozyuger then they will stay the course because there's always a chance it could get better and according to recent interviews they seem to have an "at minimum" five year plan of worldbuilding in mind.

Furthermore from what I understand I understand what sold the most in the Super Sentai merch was the Roleplay Henshin Devices while the rest of the figures and "Zords" sold poorly in Japan.
And if the Toy listing leaks for Gavan Infinity are true The toys are the gun (which is said to be the Henshin Device) Robots that transform and combine with the gun and batteries you insert in the gun to make different sounds.
This is a clear indication that they are hedging their bets and are backing what they belive to be a winning marketing strategy.

Now, will it work? Only time will tell.

All joking aside, I think a new Space Squad movie or mini-series is something they should push towards.
And assuming they'll take notes from Shaider and Spielban as well, perhaps the main toy of the show could be a cross between Gaburevolver and Tega Sword. Also, assuming they go Gavan-verse with this show... OPEN THE FAN-CREATED GAVAN FLOODGATES. :rock:

Yes, I also wrote earlier that Toei is doing everything possible to make Infinity Gavan a commercial success, even if the show itself fails. But still, it's worth remembering that Super Sentai is an iconic, long-running franchise with enormous cultural influence. And their failures are unattainable for most tokusatsu shows (KR doesn't count). Plus, I think some adult fans who've cooled off to tokusatsu but continued watching out of habit might use this as an excuse to stop watching. Basically, life is unpredictable, so it's best to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I think a true worst case scenario would also have to account for if R.E.D. goes down and Sentai is just not ready to go, which from a production standpoint I would not expect the idea of a new Sentai to be ready for at least 3-5 years, Toei would probably do anything besides a new Sentai or new hero show while still holding the time slot. If anything, we'd be more likely to see the return of the Fushigi Comedy format in the event of an immediate catastrophic failure than we would the return of Super Sentai.

Much like how Metal Heroes essentially became retooled into Fushigi Comedy shows with Kabutack and Robotack. Moero!! Robocon replaced them as a stop gap after they collapsed in popularity, but Kamen Rider Kuuga wasn't ready yet.

Worst case scenario is this fails and Toei rearranges the timeslot, and reformatting Super Hero Time as just Kamen Rider and Precure.
