It's basically a way to cheat the system and put out more figures per wave. Retailers will only buy waves of so many figures, but they're not especially picky about variants. So by putting multiple characters under one name, they can get two or three more characters per wave without technically going past the number of units retailers want in an assortment. It only seems to work with less widely known characters. You won't see Spider-man passed off as a variant for example, he's too well-known.

Ah... clever.

Basically Hasbro got wise to how retailers only ever over-order one wave of a few characters and jam-pack shelves with them. So by introducing variants they can have more shelf diversity.

This is also the reason you'll sometimes see characters from different series mixed together. Retailers won't necesarily want a certain wave of one series, but for example throw some Spider-man figures in that wave (and whatever figures they replaced go into Spidey's wave) and they'll buy both. That's why the upcoming Avengers wave is such a hodge-podge.

SHF Iron Man Mark 43 is exactly what Mark 42 was, only more red, and with even tighter hip and shoulder joints - so tight it's almost a problem.

But it looks great. Oh, and so far the hand guards are staying on.

The problem is it is too dark and blurry to tell exactly what it is. I can't even see anyone but Freddy in there.

I like what you are doing, but try having the light placed better and have the camera on something steady like a tripod or shelf.

It's the chair from the Captain Kirk with Enterprise Command Chair by DST. There are a few variations of it, such as Captain Pike from The Cage, or the Kirk with electronic version.

It's a few years old, looks like the Pike version goes for around $30, Kirk for $30-$50, except the one loose one that sold for $13. I do have the Captain Pike version I need to sell, though the monitor-type thing on the side broke off (but is included), and it's loose so I'd probably sell it for under $30.

Interesting, so the Black ST is the same size. I guess if I see one in the store (if my stores ever get rid of their Obiwans, Hans, and Leias they should get them in) I'll pick it up.

So, these figures are FANTASTIC.

I haven't messed with Vader a whole lot yet, but so far he's great. The Stormtrooper is freaking Amazing. It is everything I wanted from Figuarts Star Wars. I need more of them. The finish on the armor is gorgeous, it looks like real armor, rather than cheap, bleached plastic.

The chair is cool. Unfortunately, I already sold my spare Enterprise D command chair. I still have a spare TOS Enterprise chair (Captain Pike), but looking on eBay, you should be able to get the Enterprise D chair for around $20-$30, and it may even include either Riker or Picard (it was released with both of them) for that price.

Thanks. I got them off eBay from a guy in the UK, but they aren't quite the 1:12 advertised. The Star Wars machine turned out nice, overall. Unfortunately the change machine and the Starfighter units, as custom jobs, had some iffy stickers. If you stick to what he usually makes, they're nice but a bit pricey in the end. I wouldn't spring for the electronics upgrades, either. Still, in the long run, I'd like to grab a few more and get a little arcade going.
