I drew two things on my colors 3D page that i'll upload to DA later. These are drawings of Characters i voted for with the lines "vote 4 Prince Fluff" and "Vote for Professor Layton" on them.

Hey if they made Rosalina to use mario's Galaxy moves i don't see why they can't make Prince Fluff to use Epic Yarn themed moves.

The site does say that you should only vote for one character. Not sure what actually happens if you actually vote for more though. They've also implied on Facebook that you should only vote on Nintendo characters, which really seems like something they should mention right there on the form, even if I think most people know third parties are pretty unlikely.

Shantae would make a great character, but she has three pretty big strikes against her.
1. She's a third party character.
2. Her games aren't released in Japan.
3. She's pretty obscure in the west, even a lot of hardcore gamers wouldn't recognise her.

I think Skull Kid needs to be a playable Smash fighter. He could have a fun move set and his Final Smash can have him have the whole moon smash into the arena. I It would always be a good way to promote Majora's Mask on the 3DS.

I wanted Skull Kid in a Smash game since Melee and we need more Zelda characters for once.

Because five isn't enough? I agreed with most of your points (except it'd be far too late to promote Majora's Mask by the time anything happened with this) but "we need more Zelda characters" isn't a particularly winning argument. The actual variety may suck, but Zelda already has a fair number of representations compared to other franchises.

Is there any Nintendo franchise that doesn't have representation at all? Because I think that needs to take priortiy on getting more for already represented.

Because Captain Falcon and Yoshi, there since day one and being the only franchises to debut in the original SSB to only have one character totally don't need anyone else. Nah, the franchise behind only Mario and Pokemon in terms of representatives is the one that need more characters...

There's plenty. Advance Wars, Custom Robo, Glory of Heracles, Golden Sun, the upcoming Splatoon, Devil World (Kind of), Excitebike (Kind of), Captain Rainbow, Rhythm Heaven, etc

Yoshi is a Mario character.

They have a wide variety of characters from a gigantic library of franchises. No one wants to see one franchise make the bulk of the cast, regardless of hope popular the particular franchise may be.

Irrelevant. In game, it's a representative of the "Yoshi" franchise, not the Mario one.

That was kind of my mindset going into this Ballot.
I put in Professor Layton and a character from Famicom detective club, the only reference in Smash bros from that game was in SSBM.

The exception to that was Prince Fluff because i feel like there should be one more Kirby representative since that's Sakurai's first baby.

Yeah sorry but that's bullshit no one should be pressured to not request a character they want because the franchise they're from is "over-represented already!"

I'm not saying anyone should be pressured when it comes to who they want to request.
I'm giving you the reasoning as to why. My 3 favorite franchises (Pokemon, F-Zero, Metroid) are at 5 (6 in a few weeks), 1, and 2, but I feel no shame in requesting for more Pokemon characters.

However, when an argument for why [X character] should be added includes "Because the franchise needs more representatives" when it already holds the title of 3rd place for most reps, others will naturally turn that on it's head.

Sorry it's just I saw people bullied in the MVC and Injustice communities for requesting Street Fighter,Avengers,X-Men and Batman or Superman characters instead of obscure nobodies for "variety's sake"

I always opted for Power Girl and Superboy for Injustice, cuz they're hype characters.

I just want Shantae because she pretty much is a pseudo nintendo character at this point. also YW mentioned her not having Japanese support, but this is a poll with ballots for SEVERAL countries. if this was a japan only thing i would agree, but condsidering the ballot form is in english, my hopes for non-Japanese characters can only rise.

The difference is that unlike Capcom, which has a backlog of franchises they just don't care for anymore, or comics, which have 70+ years of history that any average Joe can pull up Wikipedia and request random no ones, Nintendo has done a (Somewhat) decent job at keeping it's titles relevant.

While there are tons of obscure Nintendo characters floating about, a lot of requests are for characters that are still relevant, but Nintendo (For some reason) seems to gloss over in favor of their big 5 (Lucas coming out of nowhere is a perfect title, since I don't think a damn soul anticipated his return over cut FE character Roy or the insanely popular 3rd party fighter, Snake :lol).

Superboy is cool because he's a less powerful Superman, but with added psychokinesis.
